Karma fair usage

Well, i had "2" next to my name, i usually check my profile after each game to see if someone noticed my work and gave any good karma, so today i had my first match with the polish DD, this is the result, i check my karma and its back to "1"

How is this fair, i assume one of the enemies didn't like me, but why they are allowed to affect my negative karma?

Who did you sink?

I think you have to have at least 2 reports in a match before you receive negative karma.

I fought mahan and tashkent, and only killed the mahan... no idea if 2 is really needed to give negative karma.

Thats why I dont care for this karma system because its just half boiled.

A carma system just works when there is a neutral group judging your actions. In fact there are 2 groups in game: your team and the others. One of them  is always disappointed while the other is neutral at best.

Imho there should only be a chance to give points to your own team. Everything else is just BS. Noone besides your team might honor what you have done or dishonor your actions. The enemy team should be able to give you positive karma or dont give karma at all, just do give kudos to the enemy for fighting well.

Giving negative karma just because you are a raging kid who got sunk is just BS.

How do you check positive or negative "karma" or what it is?

In the service record, after your nickname, there is a small number. That is your Karma

Reasons to get reports:

- You came top (must be cheating)

-You came bottom (must be useless)

- You shot on target (must be using aim assist)

- You killed someone (reported by them for being unfair)

- You killed someone (reported by own team for kill stealing)

-You hit with torps while invisible (romulan cloaking hax)

- You spoke in chat

- You sat in smoke and fired (invisible DD hax)

- You have PL after your name (some free racism)

- You have a polish ship (more free racism)

-You were foolish enough to be in front of the friendly cruiser that torps you

- You didn't follow that battleship into islands where he died immediately despite him pinging the map incessantly and calling you a noob.

- miscellaneous reasons that only make sense to the players that fire 5km torps at targets 20km away and think they're good players that are just unlucky/have bad teams.

Essentially karma is kinda a joke because the sort of people that love to scream "omg noob team, you're why I have 40% wr" also love to press the report button

I too have gone from 2 to 1 and cannot really think why! I did stink in one game as died very early - got in completely the wrong place and ended up surrounded through stupidity but I don't think this was the game I was down voted for. I think it was like the OP in a game where I was top in my Atlanta and had been a bit of a pain though nothing that could be construed as cheating - just playing to the Atlanta's strengths! Decided not to bother looking at it anymore and tend to just give positive ratings to others.

I said in chat that the Myogi player I'd just killed was playing very well (angled and took me ages to kill him through good evasion - and I'm in imperator Nikolai) and he apparently complimented me. Now at +2.

Wow (!)

Still at 1 since the beginning of the month. I've behaved because I'm on the mod to disable the chat, I've saved my team quite a few times, I'm sure I did more good than harm to the community, still nothing happening. I'm going to assume that for each of those great games I've played so far I got an equal number of compliments and reports. Anyway that Karma thing is useless so far, so who cares.

I don't think they put the karma thing to be useless, i think there is something behind it, i heard rumors that certain amount of karma will lead to little percent increase in credit earning... and if enemies can take this away from me, its not fair.

It's just the same poor implementation as in WoT. When you can add/detract perpeption points from someone without any form of validation by a 3rd party (i.e. WG), than this value is a meager representation of your real behaviour ingame.

Just read into how the system is abused in WoT to have players autobanned and see if you would like something similair here...

Just saw that on the last mingles with jingles. Karma is ok if it doesn't do anything negatively.

Have to admit that episode made me a bit depressed. It isn't here yet, but it clearly can come. People are already reporting losing karma after playing well. If this goes to the level of getting banned for being good, or playing the 'wrong' class (welcome to crap class of the week, who will it be? Cruisers? Destroyers? Or will it be the ever popular Carriers? Battleships don't count of course), and it obviously can happen, then it is just utter crap. I thought I could possibly ignore it and write it off as just another 'pffft' mechanic if it came to being reported for doing well, but that episode showed that I might not be so lucky. And no, it doesn't matter who it happens to, one undeserved ban is one too many.

Totally agree, they need to work at this system a fair bit more.

Although I wonder how they could develop the system a bit to make it both fair and useful.

* Unless they are actually acting on the reports in a fair way, they could just skip the negative aspect of it. Bad people won't go above 0, good people will get a few compliments here and there.

* You should also earn karma for giving compliments, 1 per 10 compliments or something, and at the same time, loose karma for reporting. Of course, that would only be meaningful if there was actually an action taken when a report was submitted, if it's not, nobody would risk karma for giving out reports.

* Anyone with less then an arbitrary number of karma, say 5, can't give reports, which would make revenge reporters pretty scarce. And the ones actually reporting, does so knowing full well it impacts their own karma if you are being frivolous with it.

* In my opinion, they really to take away the anonymous aspect of it. If you can't stand for the fact you compliment/report somebody, you shouldn't do it.

* And if they are going to implement something, they really need to put in safeguards so what the jingles video was talking about, won't happen. I think something similar to valve's overwatch would work pretty well, of course, that would require game replays to be saved by the server for any match where a report was done for judging.

* For the record, our divison usually also compliments enemies if they play well, so I definitely think the ability to act on both teams should stay. Because after a really good duel, even if you lost it, they are worth it.

I'll ad a few reason to Xevious_Red's list for stupid reports so far.

* Getting reported, by a friendly(dead) Amagi because you don't charge an enemy with less then 60 sec on the clock when you are a single bb with 5000 hp and no repairs vs 3 enemies (CV, Tirpitz, mikail kutozov) and they leading on points and caps.

* Getting reported by a higher tier carrier, and him asking in all chat for everyone to report...when he blames you(lower tier IJN carrier) for the enemy shooting down all his planes when he without any communication flew them around the edge to attack a cruiser with the enemy having 6 air groups holding middle and until 3 rows away from the edge.

* Doing the most perfect spotting plane shot on a cruiser in the middle of a turn on max range and having the shot plunge through the bridge into the citadel.

* Killing a DD at max range with battleship HE.

* Killing two BB's protecting the base, then suddenly not magically transporting across the map to help out a friendly BB that was wall humping in 1 or 10th line on a map with only red/green bases.

Somehow, despite of that, I'm still at 18 karma, which should've been 23-25 something if not for the above.

another reason for people to report you; Driving a destroyer, and not being visible to battleships.

last game i play some one got butt hurt that he was being attacked by a US DD and could not see him. In return the BB driver moaned in chat and reported the DD driver.

people like that make the game a toxic place.

Reasons to get reports:

- You shot on target (must be using aim assist)

- You killed someone (reported by them for being unfair)

Addition: ... doing something stupid basically yelling enemies to sink him.

As example once low hp Minekaze decided to parallel my gunship DD at 6km distance and keep sailing in straight line so I complied with his wish to get shot at and sinked him with two salvoes.

Can add another one...

Met a guy that when he got killed, claimed aimassist, then on top of that, claimed that he had talked to WG staff that said aim assist was allowed through mods.

Met the same guy on the opposite team the round after... where he outran his own smoke while trying to park in it parking, then claimed smoke-see-through-hacks when getting killed. And it wasn't the other derpiness that seems to go around in the lower tiers, it was a 1700 battle guy running T3 that somehow, haven't learned...

What can I buy with that now? What have I won? Ahh right nothing...

Karma as it is right now, is completely useless.

1. Only you can see your own Karma and you can´t see Karma from someone else

2. You get nothing from your positive Karma

3. you can´t get negative Karma

Seriously if nobody can see someone else Karma ... why is it even implemented? That just makes no sense.

Also you get only get negative when 2 or more persons in one game report you. But you get positive Karma if atleast 1 person compliments you.

@Mrmr123 , Karma doesn´t give you more credits or anything. It just shows your yeah well Karma ( which other players decide  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

Actually, if seems to be enough if one reports you to lose karma. But you don't get the notification. However, if you get 2 or more reports, you will also receive a notification.

So one report, you lose karma, two reports, you lose 2 karma, and see a notification of it as well in the notifications list. Clearly seen when only one guy, namely, the guy you killed reports you, where you lost karma, but didn't receive notifications.

From the patchnotes.

Karma System

Karma is calculated as the difference between the number of complements and reports received, and may not be less than zero. Karma is displayed by the player´s nickname.

It is prohibited to complement and report players within the same Division.

If a player is complemented or reported, a system message appears after a battle. The system message for reports will be displayed only if a player has been reported by at least two players.

The system message for complements will show the specific number of people who complemented you (without specifying their nicknames, however).

I started a game in my Kiev and this actually happened.

"all report enemy Kiev"

"why?"

"all report noob enemy Kiev"

"why?"

"only noobs use kiev"

So players are actually bothered about this anonymous rating system.......................why?
