Well Mogami seems to be recieving a couple of buffs.

 

Firing arc of 2nd starboard torpedo tube is extended by 10 °. Now, all four torpedo tubes have the same firing arc.

 

Firing arc of 1st turret is extended from ±145° to ±150°.

Firing arc of 2nd turret is extended from ±148° to ±149°, and front locking (blocked by 1st turret) is reduced from ±20° to ±13°.

Firing arc of 4th turret is extended from ±140° to ±145°.
 

On top of that, this was changed.

​The buff is only related to 203mm guns. Im very happy with that because it was signifficant drawback of the Mogami compare with Atagao, Myoko and Ibuki.

Mogami sucks, plain and simple. It's not so much one thing, but many small things that make it crap. It's gonna dissapear from t8 matches completely(other than Zao grinding) when ARP Takao becomes avalible. Only way for it to be viable again would be if WG increased the range(to say 16,5 or something) and remove the 203 guns  while buffing the turret traverse for 155's. The game has changed alot since the Mogami was considered OP back in the day with the 18+ km range and 155's not having sucky traverse speed....

Are you sure it's not for 155s as well? (asking, because I don't have the Mogami yet and can't tell any difference)

Its for 203mm only theres images on reddit post comparing old and new angles and it shows 155's hasnt changed. Still seems ill just sell myoko and find something else to buy isntead mogami.

Stat wise the differences between Mogami with 203mm and Atago are so minimal as to be irrelevant. Of course heal is the game changer here but assuming ARP Takao doesn't get it, and why should it, there is no reason she would be suddenly stronger than Mogami so much as to make her irrelevant. Or put another way, if you're hating on Mogami and expecting ARP Takao to be OP I have some seriously bad news for you.

 

Put another-nother way, it's perfectly possible to play a very successful Atago game without using the heal. In fact it's more of a safety net, you don't Yolo-around thinking "it's OK I can repair that" because you're still a cruiser, you'll just get deleted. So if you play Mogami the same as Atago most of the time you'll do just as well. So where does the hate come from?

I think that a lot of people are disappointed that there is only a slight improvement in stats from a 203mm Myoko to a 203mm Mogami, but you get worse matchmaking.

It's almost like you are just continuing the Myoko grind (fine ship though it undoubtedly is), but in less favourable circumstances.

 

PS - just saying, but don't forget that you get much better Torpedo firing arcs in Atago. :)

What Ive said Atago has better firing angels so you can stay more angled and fire all guns. Is much easier to avoid shots and the heal give you a lot more survivabilty. While you get some citadel you can take back some HP. In other cruisers you are punished very hard for a mistake.

After handfull of games in stock mogami and unlocked range upgrade, it feels lacking in terms of range. 15km range is not ok at tier 8, yes had 1 amazing ranked game where i did 140k+ dmg without even modules to improve the performance.

Way to fix this ship is to give small range upgrade to 155's ( 400-600m ) and bigger to 203mm, this would give players choise and make the massive citadell smaller target.
