I think it`s hard for those who don`t play carriers. If you have carrier, preferably USN, it`s just a formality.

150 is definitely a lot, but I don't mind the requirement because more people play CVs at the moment due to the mission.

We need more CV players.

 

And let's not forget that you got 2 months to complete the mission.

Some will not be able to do it as they aren't at the Tier required or like me they play DD. I couldn't shoot more than 1 fighter when a fighter squadron was above my position for a minute. I had just killed a CV and as the clock was counting down to end game I thought I would see how many my AA could shoot.

 

Not good lol. However, wish others luck with their efforts. I would have loved the chance to get a Kongo Fog of War paint job, but then again what about a nice Minekaze one?

Its doable even without a CV. Im at 101 plane kills today, courtesy by my Murmansk and Cleveland. The 2nd Kongo stage and Newyear missions seems to have brought out more CV players. I'll finish the rest of the plane kills tomorrow and move on towards the third stage. Obviously this would go alot faster with a CV, but I dont have one anymore.

I did it in 10 or so games in a Bogue.

i do have enough premuim exp on 4 premuim ships to get too the bogue  but i dont have gold or the space

I am just saying, that was the way I was going to do it when I saw what we had to do.

 

I free XPed through the Langley and then drove the Bogue with the 2x Fighter, 1x Bomber config. It was actually kinda fun. Maybe I will drive carriers more in the future.

Done it in 4 battles while killing enemy ships in my cv, so np

I had excessive credits so I bought the Ryuujo for this mission, upgraded it for fighters. Well, in 3 games I have 75 plane kills. Another 3-4 games and I'll have it finished, sell the Ryuujo again.

I've downed 70 planes yesterday by just playing Atago (trying to get the DDs for Myoko). Besides you can do that in 5-7 battles in a T5 CV.

I'm stuck at 34 planes for the HNY mission, and carriers simply don't show up, and if they do, they ignore me. Only 1 good game with Cleveland, that bagged me 14 planes in a single game. the rest, crap

If you have a valid level Tier ship with good AAA or a CV this is easy and many people who have that set up will tell you so (I'm sure to give encouragemant rather than trying to flame those not in that position).

 

If you don't have the required ships then you have the choice to buy them, otherwise you may find it hard or may even fail to achieve the 150 aircraft. It is a challenge open to all as long as you have the correct ships. I play Tier V IJN DDs, so I can play and who knows? Anyone want to bet how long it will take me to shoot down 150 aircraft in my Minekaze during normal play?

 

I did kill one when I had taken out a CV at the end of a game. The fighters were circling above me for about a minute; one kill. Although shouldn't I be credited with more than that if I took out a CV? Now that's a possibility; everyone hunting CVs as quickly as possible.

Well, these missions aren't made for people who only play one class, obviously. You'll have a hard time erasing 30 DDs in BBs, or killing x CAs with figher-heavy loadouts on CVs. I loved how WG during CBT actually managed to balance current preferred classes by doing almost weekly events promoting unpopular classes - making it interesting for all players to check out these ships or gring through the evil steps of certain lines. This event gives you 2 months, which boils down to 2-3 plane kills per day. Doable I'd say. Division up with CVs, play obvious plane hunters like the Cleveland or try out the CVs yourself. Even BBs can get that mission completed pretty fast, you're getting focused a lot by CVs anyway.

 

So either adapt and move out of your comfort zone or ... don't - it's a free 1.8m hull and in the case of the Myoko, even 5.8m ship for free - and it comes with a free portslot. But I mean if you only play DDs a BB as reward shouldn't be such a loss for you anyway, right?

1. Obviously? What are you on about, of course it's not made for people playing one class; that is exactly what I stated with the fact people might want to purchase other ships. I do wish people would read the post before trying to be 'obviously' clever.

2. Yes, I probably wouldn't use the Kongo, just like the Emden, but why should that stop me from taking part? 

3. I like my DD and am a reasonable player in it. I do not wish to inflict my other ship play on anyone else to achieve a mission entirely for me. Yes it's my choice and yes I don't mind. Some people aren't even taking part in the missions but are still being affected by those who are.

4. I mentioned the chance of a Minekaze ship reward (or any other class of ship reward not represented); as you say, not everyone will play the Kongo once they've won it.
