Automatic aim for more tactical play.

Hello,

I basically stopped playing shooters some years ago, mainly because of my slow system, I also became to good at it... and also aimbots and hackers.

I believe the challenge of shooters is over... aimbots/computers can aim just as good as a human being... sometimes even faster and such.

In Star Trek Online for example... aiming is fully automatic... the game itself is boring but that's beside the point.

In this game "manual" aim... feels kinda akward...

One would expect such warships to have computers and guided aim.

Though these warships are ofcourse old, from an era where that might not have existed.

However they did have "crew" which is the next best thing instead of a computer.

Therefore this game could be changed, so that the crew members do the shooting.

What you as captain would do is:

1. Decide which ship to shoot.

It may also become possible to give different orders per cannon.

2. So it might be possible to select multiple ships and the game itself figures out which cannons to fire at which ships or the captain simple selects cannon 1,2,3,4,5 like planes... and then selects a target per cannon. This could be interesting too fire at multiple ships at the same time =D

This would then change the game from a "shooter"-like game... to a more decision/tactical game.

My question for you as players:

1. How much do you really enjoy shooting yourself ?  Would you mind if the ship would do it for you ?

2. Do you play this game more for the tactical aspect of it or not ?

I think "automatic aim"  (and fire) would make this game more fair.

Bye,

  Skybuck.

This would make this game too easy to master. A good player can anticipate your turning and scatter shots (especially on high range), where you could go. If everyone just aims autmatically, the guy with the fastest guns/highest dps would win.

Only if dispersion was greatly increased for automatic fire and decreased for manual firing. There has to be some reward for learning how to aim correctly.

Manual fire would no longer be available ! :)

Damn, that would be boring. And I would want a refund for the prem ships I bought. Luckily this won't happen.

Doesn't have to be... there would still be plenty of action.. only difference is... you not pulling the trigger/mouse click anymore ! and ofcourse also some timings... like when too shoot...

Could be exciting if you are not exactly sure when the crew member decides to shoot ! ;)

1. How so ? There would be no shooting to master, this is fully automated ! The focus would be more on decisions, I don't see how that would be easy to master, plenty of decisions to make.

2. Aiming is left to AI system, so player no longer in control of it... Though different firing modes could be ordered to the crew members: "precision fire", "scattering" and so forth.

3. Good point, however the AI system could be made a bit more human... so that crew members need some time to adjust and so forth. There could even be different levels of crew members/experience and such.

If this get's through, we don't even need aimbots or bots in general; just let your cat sit at the computer and play with a laser pointer

This is so obviously a troll thread :fishpalm:

Every thread by this idiot is a troll thread. He must have been pretty bored this afternoon with all the crap he has posted on the forum.....I expect his mummy is busy in the kitchen and not keeping an eye on him.

Unpopular opinion incoming:

I think there SHOULD be automatic lock-on to target. But, as in World of Tanks, it should be a lot less accurate than manual fire.

Why is that needed? Well, I find it really hard to multitask between shooting and avoiding Islands/ enemy shells / enemy planes/ enemy torps.

At least there should be an option to lock your turrets to follow a certain targets.

Well with his signature I would probably suggest the same thing.

I could feel the heat from that burn back here.

RPG for ships, roll a die 20 and get 20 to hit target with no dispersion, "rolls the die 20" get 1. "Rolled a 1, ammo explodes in the gun blowing up your ship". This is basically what this guy is asking for, an RPG style of attack.

Seriously ..I start to like the entertainment Skybuckflying brings to the Forums on a daily basis. So from today on I will advocate any of his ideas regardless if they are good (well that would be a nice surprise) or not.

So I´ll say YES to the aimbot! Maybe this will finaly open up a window of opportunity to look at the speed of my ship! (I mean COME ON ...pressing TWO DIFFERENT keys like 5 times ...who can keep up with that s*** beacuse we wouldnt need the mousebuttons anymore we could then hold left button pressed to accelerate and the right button to reverse - ANOTHER USEFULL THING! )

Great idea... give us the aimbot NOW!
