I've already started this thread some months ago in the us-forum, but I think the GK-10 should also have a place in the eu-forum.

Project name "GK 10":

GK = Großer Kreuzer (german) = Large Cruiser (english) = a term used by the "Imperial German Navy" for all cruisers larger than 5500 tons, including "battlecruisers" and "armored cruisers"

10 = series number

 

Background:
The GK 10 was one of several design studies of the Imperial German Navy. After the Jutland Battle, the german engineers came up with a lot of new ideas for the future german shipbuilding program and worked on it until the end of the war, so some designs were very advanced and can be seen as possible german post-war ships if History would have choosen a different direction. The GK10 was some kind of super-sized battlecruiser comparable to the american Lexington BC and the british G3 BC.

Germany will probably be the fifth nation since i doubt either France or Italy will be implemented before Germany. It will come eventually but not anytime soon.

Main armament 8x42cm

 

So 8 guns of 16 inches each, that is so OP for 1916.

I like this ship. But she will need one of those "hypothetical modernizations"  as right now, she doesnt has any type of AA defences.

Indeed, this ship is as good as a sitting duck against anything that comes from the air.

Or we could do this with the 15cm guns:

yes this ship has to be tweaked a lot if it really will be implemented as a german toptier, especially AA and deck armor

 

I think the L 20 e α would be a similar valid toptier candidate for the second german BB line
