Check this holiday event in the ASIA server:

http://worldofwarships.asia/en/news/specials-and-events/secret-santa/

and the info:

Commanders,

Everybody loves giving and receiving presents. This is all the more so during the winter holidays, which are meant to be a time of fun and laughter. Why not exchange gifts with the people who were on the battlefields with us all year long? Become a Secret Santa and give presents to other players! You don't even need to know their name and address!

17 December - 4 January: Secret Santa

  1. Visit our special holiday page.
  2. Click "BECOME A SECRET SANTA" to give a present to a random player.
  3. Wait a bit, and you will also get a present from another player.

Each present package will cost USD 0.99.

You will get exactly as many presents as you have made... But only the true Santa knows what kind of gift it will be, because the winter holiday is a time of surprises! One thing is for sure, though: your gift box won't be empty.

When the event is over, every participant will be awarded a special commemorative flag.

Me like! Me want too! :great:

Had to give it a try.

First gift: 500 doubloons.

Second gift: 250 doubloons.

Third gift: 100 doubloons + 5x Type 3 camo (christmas)

Have bought 2 more but they haven't shown up yet.  I'll post them here to try give an idea of whether they are worth it or not.

Where do the gifts show up when you receive them? Is it in game the same way flags earned in battle show up? (sorry at work at the moment so can't check the game client)

Just dispatched a Fuso broadside full, happy Christmas folks

 :)

Cheers

Rat

Would be nice if the gifts really would be given to random players.

I guess it is only a win-win situation for Wargaming only, because gifts only will be given to players that also did buy a gift.

Player 1 buys a gift + gift will be given to player 2 who has bought a gift.

Player 1 = 0,99

Player 2 = 0.99

Player 1 receives gift worth 0.99?

Player 2 receives gift worth 0.99?

Wargaming receives 2x 0.99

Who is the winner here? :sceptic:

Edit: according to the campaign rules

Gifts that may be made or received by the Participant are in-game values (Gold, premium vehicles, premium account, consumables).

I wonder if there will be players that receive a Premium Ship.

My one present was 500 dubloons which according to the website costs £1.64... and the present was £0.72.

But either way, I wasn't expecting to get some amazing deal out of buying a couple - this is WG after all...

Hey MaxxyNL I kind of understand your point but let's put it in perspective:

Player 1 pays for 1 apple

Player 2 pays for 1 apple

Wargaming receives payment for 2 apples and gives 2 apples.

Player 1 receives 1 apple (or more if lucky).

Player 2 receiver 1 apple (or more if lucky).

Doesn't seem that greedy in my end :)

Note: I know apples are a real thing and WG is selling virtual pixels.

Ingame stuff is virtual content.

Apples are "real life" products.

So I have to pay for a special medal... I don't really mind players gifting each other but achieving special medals that way... WG will sell anything to make money.

I work in virtual content and get paid in real money and then use it to buy apples.

Who cares about medals in the first place?

People are doing it because it's fun to receive and send gifts, and there is a chance your gift will be bigger than the money spent on it.

So, bought 15 of them. Hopefully making 15 people happy xD
