Annoying heavy damage sound

I know this has been discussed before, but thats why I am bringing it up again, since it seems to be ignored by the developers.

See http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/29946-heavy-damage/

Many people are complaining about this sound, and I am now one of them. But the thing in my case is, that I actually have Tinnitus. My treatment was that I got used to it, I ignore it and can live very well with it. But when this sound in your game happens its suddenly there again, and I cant ignore it anymore for a long time, because that sound sounds exactly like Tinnitus. This causes massive psychological stress. Every time this happens I get so mad, that I could just smash my keyboard into my screen.

As asked so many times before: Please make this sound at least optional. I just cant play this game anymore like this. Im literally making myself sick.

Agreed, some sounds make mine extremely noticeable, I'm lucky this isn't one of them but I can see it being incredibly annoying for those it does.

I agree totally. Like you my ears suffer and in all honesty, I do think we know without excess effects that we have suffered a severe hit!

Well I agree, but untill they fix that for those of you that have some problems with their ears you can allways turn the sound off and play something nice in the background.

What I REALLY dont like is the shaking when you get hit and the orange border on your screen when you are on fire. So distracting. I wish there was a mod to turn it off.

Could somebody upload a video featuring the sound? I don't remember ever hearing it.

Not sure if I just haven't paid attention yet.

Its like that thin sounds you sometimes hear in your ears while there shouldnt be any sounds present.

Or if you play FPS a lot, that sound when you hear after you have been blown with a flashbang.

You can turn off the shaking thing in the options menu (graphics). I don't remember the name of it but it's a checkbox.

I think your best bet on this would be mods. Shouldn't be difficult to change that sound to a dummy file.

Would be nice though to have controls about the sounds in game.

I think they've changed it on the test-server to be an alarm sound.

I thought so too... but then I noticed that it wasn't gone.

I don't have the OPs problem at all, but even so it is just a baffling sound. What does it add that a loud bang or clang doesn't?

the tinitus sound thing is when enemy citadel hit you. and is problematic for lots of people even without tinitus

Isnt that how it sounds when you get hit by tons of explosive shells? I do not think it should be removed or changed. I however support the cause to make the sound optional for those people who liteally cant handle the sound bite.

Cmon people what do you think would happen when you are next  to a explosion inside your magazine?

I like the sound when I get hit heavy. Adds to the Emerson of the game like in the movies :-) but like the colour blind option, I think they should add on option to disable it if they haven't already.

An option I would like to see added as well is "man your battle stations" with various national languages to go with the spotted perk. Maybe one day :-)

So you are always right next to such an explosion? Also, why does the sound only happen under special circumstances and not when shells otherwise penetrate? It makes little sense. Unless you are specifically in near proximity to the hits, you would not get concussed. And since we retain full control for the duration, it is clear it isn't a concussion.

Basically it is just a 'cool' sound effect, the problem is just that it isn't cool at all.

You would die.

Next question.

This. I'm not sure if it's the volume or frequencies or combination thereof, but the sound is horrific when using in-ear headphones or quality external speakers. I've seen countless "huhu don't play with the volume so loud"-objections during my lurking time on this forum; but that's not the problem at all. The volume for all (other) effects in-game is just right for me, but when this happens I have to ninja-push the mute button on my keyboard or suffer actual ear pain.

Maybe having spent seven years in the army (as a FO/TACP, and danger close to actual 15.5 cm explosions) have made me sensitive to this particular frequency, but fact remains that it's a horrible sound.

the sound on PT is even worse, I don't have hearing problem, but the sound is very high, like a screeching "beeeeeeeeep", an it's VERY annoing... i can't imagine how painfull it could be for people with some hearing disease.

Personally I quite like it. But I'm partially deaf anyway and only play with one headphone on so it's not too loud for me. All for options to disable it for those that it affects badly though

Yes its there, but everybody who stood close to a granade or landmine recognisis it all to well. Believe me. If that is a good thing I don't know.

(on a side note, if going to Bosnia in 1994 was a good idea ... not sure either).

Your ship has just been wrecked, hundreds of your crew just lost their lives, what are you expecting it to sound like?  Its an unwelcome noise for a very unwelcome event and I quite like it that way. Look on the bright side every time you citadel someone you know exactly what they will be hearing.

It is not about effect on your ship but the current sound file they use when you receive a massive hit. I would much rather have a loud explosion sound rather than the sound of tinnitus. If it could be turned off I would have done it yesterday........

Maybe some mod(der) can edit the sound file or something?

Please also disable the "Battle Starts!!" and "Battle Stations" sounds at the start of each round! :D

I'd imagine modding off the ping sound would be possible. However, the game also muffles all other sounds when your ears pop, I'm not so sure if you could get rid off that though.
