Lol, Monty's still funny. As a DD I have been surprised at how a line can break as soon as the first BB turns away from a set of torps. It tends to go hand in hand with some teams not understanding on such a map you need to get in and cap to sway the battle. I have often gone forward to cap and had very little support (guess there's a healthy fear of DDs) :honoring: Quite right too!

I wonder what this team was playing.

Just remember to divide scores by 1,5 and you'll see how "well" 10 players did:

Well, actually at one point I noticed that Kuma and Omaha were engaged in team killing each others...

I think it is the enemies DD that frightened them......

Maybe players should sometimes do that...

They were obviously trying to lure the enemy into their carefully laid ambush behind those islands. A cunning plan!

I have often gone forward to cap and had very little support (guess there's a healthy fear of DDs) :honoring: Quite right too!

I found that friendly DDs are vastly more dangerous than the enemy. I can sail my cruisers through enemy torpedoes like a Touhou pro-gamer on methylphenidate and even in a big bootied battleship I can occasionally go toe-to-toe with DDs and dissuade them with a HE volley unless they catch my pants down during reload and are close enough to spray profanities at my hull when launching.

But I can anticipate the enemy. I can sense their bloodlust as they descend upon me like feed-frenzied whitetip sharks. It's what they do and it's what I do (still waiting for a shark mouth camouflage paint).

But those filthy back-torpedoing knobends the matchmaker puts in your own team, those are the truest enemy since you don't see them coming. Perfectly camouglaged as allies, they sneak up on their unsuspecting victims and *beep* *BEEP* *BEEBEEBEEBEEP* -KABLOOEY.

The number of torpedoes I had to evade from just that one friendly Umikaze, I swear on Neptune's beard those torps had my name on them! I dodged at least three full spreads that would've sank me if I hadn't abused my poor rudder like a porn-starved pubescent boy would his internet as soon as the parents are in bed.

I rather tango with half the enemy team if that's what it takes to keep allied destroyers from my back.

Bit of a rant (well okay, much of a rant), but I had to get this out of my system before I start nuking DDs straight out of our spawn.

All running away in some cases can be good thing - attempt to organise some defense and to take some advantage, attemp to do something

What I really hate is passive, static teams with no idea how to attack enemy,to cap lost bases or to enter zone circle

Individual HP savers and lemming train teams

In tier 4-5 we lost battle in 5 mins because all camp outside of cap zone circle

I need 10sec+ to enter with my super slow tier 4 BB

Some day ago in domination mode friendly Tirpitz (after super static no try to decap team) with new year camo and full hp last stand on the map and start to perform this run away style.. WG please ad some Exit Door for these useless HP savers

This is classic herd mentality. It's difficult to reverse as you have to get people organised to all go in the same direction once the rout starts. It's interesting.

Lemming trains I don't care about THAT much. I care more about no cruiser support when I'm going for the cap as a DD. And I care about BBs staying at the back waiting for friendly cruisers to die when playing a cruiser.

To assist with the other side of the house though, I have missed many torpedo chances because CAs rush in for the kill. I have also had CAs fire their torpedoes at enemy ships when I've been inbetween. :honoring:

Game evolved into act of "who survive longer" without any particular interest of map objective neither helping each other. Whoever representing respectable team get shoot at the start - advance into "noob" position - and whoever dies last has the right and opportunity to call everyone "morons, idiots etc". That's sad... That's why we need clans and clan battles - in this case I don't care what opposite team would do, they could for instance stack one on another in A1...

At that point in the game I would also just throw it to save on repairs. Sad but true.

Doing that at the start though...

I don't have the same experience as you Aotearas regarding DD:s (it might be because I mainly play them myself..). I could however sign on your rant and substitute DD with CA/CL. There's always a cruiser launching torps at ships 7 km away (with 4-5 km range torps), with myself stuck in between. It happened a few days ago, and after some desperate dodging - losing my positioning in the process - I "questioned" that decision in chat, and the conversation looked like this:

Me: LOOK BEFORE TORPING

Me: Why even torp when opp ship is 7-8 km away? Check your torp range

CA: You never know what can pop up

Me: Yes you know, because I'm spotting and there's NOTHING here EXCEPT ME

CA: n00b

Yesterday I got killed by a Furutaka that was launching torps at the same Myogi I was torping (in an Omaha, no less) except the Furry was 1 km behind me, on a parallel course...

Cruisers are way worse at giving f*ck all about where they spam torps than DDs, IMHO.

This:

I have also had CAs fire their torpedoes at enemy ships when I've been inbetween. :honoring:

That's about what I had with one Omaha player about two months ago.

He just kept spamming 5km range torps to enemy 10km away.

While himself never moving forward of spawn area, not even when enemy was clearly loosing and being pushed back and shot maybe couple gun salvoes in whole match.

I played in that day but it was another match in which enemy should have been afraid of DD.

9kill 200k dmg Score.jpg9kill 200k dmg Team.jpg

They would have won by points by not attacking me/trying to cap...

But nicely they just kept coming despite of me curb stomping every incoming ship.
