best way to play Stock Furu? honestly? free XP the gun upgrade... that makes it a very good ship in the right hands.

Other than that, pretty much the usual Cruiser tips, but all amplified for the Furu:

- Don't show your broadside to anyone any more than you have to - even destroyers can easily citadel you if you don't angle your armour.

- Aim well, since your heavy guns fire slowly. Be patient, wait for that glorious broadside shot into that cruiser! Also, AP can be surprisingly good against lower-tier Battleships - it's not entirely uncommon to citadel Myogis and Kongos from short-ish range.

Any ship sucks when stock. Play a few PvE to familiarize with the ship and get some exp to unlock some modules, or use some free exp for modules.

Edit: and there is a section called "Ships" on this forum, where at "Cruisers" you should have opened this topic, or find old topics about Furutaka.

When you upgrade the guns, the ship will become really good. The AP can tear appart cruisers that show their broadside with citadel hits, and the HE has a good chance for fire.

Just remember that the ship has rather slow turret traverse, so getting the commander skill to help with it is worth it.

Also, the ship has rather bad AA, you are not an AA escort.

The shell arch can be sort of good or bad as it is rather low, this means that the you will have a more difficult time to shoot over islands and get plunging fire, but it works well against cruisers sides.

Just mind that the range is only 13km and that most cruisers can shoot longer than you.

That should be the most important things.

I would also suggest getting the level 2 captains turret rotation perk, every little bit helps in keeping your guns on target.

Some are more gimped than others compared to upgraded. Unlike WoT no ship is useless in a match having to be carried for the first few until upgraded, they may have to be played different than upgraded but they can help a team.

Stock Fuso (arguably the ship with the biggest difference between stock and upgraded) first match 140k dmg wholeheartedly agrees with you :)

The Myogi is right there with the Fuso but being tier 4 the player usually doesn't spend much time in it.
