Should WoWS start charging a monthly fee?

This should be an interesting discussion.

I've been playing now for 2 months and have noticed that the game has more than its fare share of idiots, free loaders and team killers and thought that perhaps a modest monthly fee of perhaps £5 or £10, or equivalent in Euro's, might eliminate or at least reduce this problem. I play in Co-op only as I dislike many of the people I've met in Random so don't even go there. Perhaps its a bigger problem in Co-op although reading many of the posts it seems to be a problem everywhere. How many times have you played a game only for some idiot to go off and mess about at the edge of the map or even intentionally spoil the game for others because that is their nature. How many times have we all moaned about the team killers and the seeming lack of punishment or deterrent. And how many times have the free loaders proudly boasted about how much money they don't spend on the game but are quickly onto the forums to whinge and whine about this that or the other ( usually connected to spending money ).

All of this tends to spoil things for the rest of us who love the game and everything it has to offer and in my experience there is nothing like actually paying for a service to instil caring for and responsibility to that service.

Also paying customers could expect to have more say in what happens to the game if the devs were bright enough to recognise the potential .Perhaps this would encourage the devs to give us more and better maps or different weather conditions including fog, rain or storm conditions and what ever else a paying customer might want to see ( maybe even submarines).

I realise that a free game is good at certain levels but these days it also attracts too many unwanted types who bring nothing to the game but frustration and annoyance to all. We need to weed these kinds of people out so that the rest of us can properly enjoy the game. Or we might loose it all together.

No, just no. It doesn't guarantee there would be less teamkillers and all the other destructive players (and then you'd be paying 5-10€ to play with those kinda players). Also, I'd be the first one to stop playing it. I'm paying for premium already and I do it with a heavy heart. Paying more would just make the game repulsive for me, and I'm sure many others share my opinion.

EDIT: Not everyone can afford such stuff and it's also one of the main reasons I'm against it.

If I honestly thought it would make a difference with money ploughed into additional content then maybe. However, even with the Blue Steel event coming up there are just too many events on other servers that do not make it onto the EU server. If people thought that they were being treated 'fairly' then it could be considered but there are too many people here that would actually take it as the last straw and go elsewhere.

Not even going to read this. I do not want to pay to play a game that I've invested money into on the basis that the game is free to play.

2207 co-op battles and 30 randoms... Well you could expect something like this after reading the topic title...

Charge the bots 30 Euros, that will stop them

I would be ok paying £5 a month but no more and I would expect to have a month's premium for every £5 spent playing this game

This game needs the free players for matchmaking to work. If you make players pay, 90% will leave the game. No players, no (good) matchmaking, no battles. How will you play then?

Even clowns have money.........

Yeah, I don't think it has been even week from rant thread of one wallet warrior about bad teams...

When he himself couldn't even do one DD worth of damage per match in cruiser and in DD was challenged to get even one torp hit per match.

Personally, I have to agree about the Noobs, the idiots, who spoil the game. But why go so easy, lets say a thousand Euros a month? I'll tell you why not, at present I wouldn't pay anymore than I have. The game is full of bugs or seems that way, and gets worse every update/patch, sometimes I actually believe it's a con, given the things that happen during a "Battle" and it's outcome, it is like it's a fixed outcome, as with "Ranked Battles"

I was going to uninstall, but I'm still willing to wait and see if it sorts itself out. The idea of a "Paper ship" contest, gave me a smile, it seems there is intelligent life at WoW headquarters, after all ...

This game is already heavily milked even without that.

So, this is in human culture a...discussion. A suggestion, that could become a discussion, if civilized ppl were around and the norm was for ppl to have the ability to communicate and formulate words that are reasonable.

Anyway, on the topic i read many interesting ideas here...

-Some argue that many can't afford such things. We know the game depends a LOT in it's Premium Shop/Deals. So the same ppl prolly can't afford that. If the suggestion is applied, the Shop would go aaway and as far as i understand the very premice of it is, to make someone feel unique by having something others can't. A placebo effect mostly. As a gamer you would want to have every ship in your "library" trust me.

-I read that the playerbase will diminish to more than 95%. So most ppl play with F2P? The obvious reason, to start from there, that a game starts as a F2P is because the Devs want to appeal to a wider audience (hence in this case it does not make sense to have official statement that they care mostly about their Russian playerbase because 90% of their income comes from them!). Adding to that the endless grind you have to go through without having Premium. As i have said, i would love to see a Developer playing through his game on a F2P account. Show us how you enjoy the grind etc. Teach us the way...

In any case, the only thing i know is, ppl are incapable yet to discuss, communicate or feel much empathy. And "clowns" may very well not have money... To me, personally, after watching the Gaming Industry abusing the so-called "Buisness models", i do feel that a return to B2P would be better overall. And that comes from a "clown". I do hope ppl will give serious thought, on market trends, economics etc. and start discussing things and not act to everything like it's a blasphemy. This is not the Middle Ages anymore...i think.

Took the time to write this while downloading Steel Ocean, is it any good? As a gamer i have to check it out, right? Cheers.

If they quadrupel their efforts with game development and community-events...maybe.

how the game looks now (and the effort put into it), it's not even worth the price of 1 ridiculous bundle.

OP have a good point and if WoWS is popular enough it will thrive with a better community than the present one filled with people that should be playing against bots only and never ever come close to PvP.

Gotta provide a quality game if you want people to sub for it.  With it's terrible balance, lack of polish and severe lack of content, wows is most definitely in the free to play class.
