[JUNK] SomeoneYouKnow2 Beta Tester 301 posts 13,581 battles Report post #1 Posted December 4, 2015 For whatever reason you're in a bad mood. Maybe because you've had a string of losses or maybe you're just having a bad day. Do you have a comfort ship for these situations? I do, it's called the Arkansas Beta. The award ship for having taking part in the closed beta. This ship got a pretty bad reputation at the start though (poisoned gift anyone?) since at stock it's much worse than the Wyoming. But I found that with some critical upgrades like Gun Fire Control System Mod 1 and Steering Gear Mod 2 it becomes almost as good as the Wyoming, in fact when it comes to killing cruisers there is no real difference. It has no AA but it turns really sharply so carriers rarely hit with more than 1 torpedo per run against me and I often dodge them altogether. It's also a great ship for retraining captains in the US tree, especially for destroyers so you get situational awareness and all the other nice perks from game 1. I rarely have a bad game in this ship. What is your comfort ship?

[CPA] Procrastes Beta Tester 4,083 posts 4,481 battles Report post #3 Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) The Murmansk, easily. It can contribute to, or in a pinch get out of, most situations - and it's always fun to drive. Saving up to the Cleveland, though. It was a blast driving that one in the beta! Surmaaja Players 197 posts 2,249 battles Report post #4 Posted December 4, 2015 Generally Omaha, spamming HE all day long and having a payback time after RNG pisses on your shell dispersion or penetration. If I do really bad in my cruisers or get instagibbed I use highest tier BB to let off some steam and change the pace after hectic dodging.

[BW-UK] ShockPirat Beta Tester 814 posts 27,538 battles Report post #7 Posted December 4, 2015 Imperator Nikolai, Ark Beta, Murmansk and Gremyaschy are my comfort ships. Blyskawica a bit less (more a warm-up ship before playing ranked). I also like my Tachibana a lot. I do not play as a comfort ship, but as a "quick game" ship. I often play it when I'm waiting for my division mates to exit battle, as it is capable to win fast and also to die fast

Kevon_Le_Tonque Players 28 posts 742 battles Report post #14 Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) my highest tier so far is tier 5, but i do have a comfort ship. i just love playing in my st louis. having a bad habbit of rushing ahead of my team the 22kts. top speed holds me back and gives me more armor and more survivability in return, and unlike battleships, this ship has more small calliber cannons wich means you can use the first shot to aim and judging on where it lands you can adjust aim for the next shot. also you can spread out your salvo incase an enemy cruiser/dd keeps turning his ship. Ascender Beta Tester 468 posts 5,440 battles Report post #17 Posted December 4, 2015 Stuff I saw your topic title and the first thing that popped in my mind was Arkansas Beta, and then I saw it was yourse too! Good choice! One of the main reasons Arkansas Beta was hated before was because of the number 4 turret (or was it 3?) that kept constantly getting its shots blocked by that stupid lifeboat. Since they removed that it feels a lot better. Also I suspect the several reworks on HE and AP mechanics since the start of open beta helped it along. What really makes it tick for me is that not only is it a really good ship but the MM tops out to tier 5 (admittedly so should the Wyoming) and since the AP shells are so terrible they actually tend to hit citadels on some flimsy ships instead of overpenetrating them completely like the Tenryu and Karlsruhe, while still having enough penetration to citadel ships like the St.Louis and Furutaka and perform regular penetrations on ships like the Myogi and New York. Ignoring the whole AA debacle the Arkansas is very competative to the Wyoming. Compared to the top Wyoming you have the same hitpoints, same engine power, worse rudder shift, slightly better turret rotation (unless this changed which it might have) and with the (mandatory) range upgrade module 0.1km more range on the same stealth 'n all that. Long story short, the way I see the Arkansas is that it's a Wyoming with stock armor, stock AP but can mount all the modules you ever wanted. This gives you the ability to have more stealth, a faster RoF and consequently higher DPM values, catch less fires and stuff like that. I'm using the Main Battery Modification 3 for -12% loading times and -17% turret traverse speed. Sure the turrets are PAINFULLY slow now, but they were before as well and the extra RoF really does seem to pay off over time. Secondary for me is Fletcher and Yamato, simply because they can punish bad players incredibly hard so long as RNG doesn't screw you over.

Kurbain Players 1,976 posts 2,773 battles Report post #23 Posted December 4, 2015 My comfort ship is the USS Exit Button. No way to get frustrated about teammates if you aren't playing and I haven't lost a single time yet using it. Joke aside it's definitely the Murmansk. Excellent seal-clubbing capabilities coupled with an increased credit gain is everything a captain could ask for. The Imperator Nikolai would be one as well if it wasn't so damn slow. In fact, I enjoy all the DDs and will turn to them for a fun match, but the Tachi is just hilarious. Lots of guns and torps that reload stupidly quickly, plus its a great little trainer for my higher tier IJN DD.
