I play wows because I have come to love the authenticity and level of detail that has gone into the game design of wows.

I love the rawness, the RL like feel I get, the immersion. Even if there are some historical inconsistencies, and ships that weren't really there on the oceans. But it is still kept at a modest and acceptable level.

For me the slight historical freedom shown in wows, is not an argument, to go all out Anime.

WOWS for me was a breath of fresh air, where I could play an adult game. At least I felt less silly playing around with my battleship, than most other war games out there. The addition of Argeggio, destroys this for me.

If its to reach the Asian community, I can understand it. I sincerely hope some thought has gone into this decision by WG. It seems like a rather farfetched and indeed a very risky move.

But lets have a POLL. And lets see what the community says.

It's not that black/white. I'm not opposed to it (whatever floats your boat: I for one instance don't care about anime, but I can understand those who like it, as well as I can understand those who oppose it), but I think that there were, and are, more important things at this moment that need implementation, or at least more attention from the devs than this Arpeggio-thing.

I wish they would spend the time end energy on things that add and improve to the core of the game. Leave this crap to modders!

"For others, we hope that you will appreciate the new visual style and a brand new port that comes with it. If not, you will have the option to completely disable this mode and keep your experience pure. The choice is yours…"

You can turn it off. Why make a problem out of this?

They do! Think! Skins do not need much time and energy. Programers are not involved.

Some people have a "If I don't like it then it shouldn't exist" attitude.

Since its optional, the only real concerns I can see is that;

-They could have used the time for something else, E. G. Instead of having anime pics/voices/skins they could have had historically accurate skins/captain pictures

-It damages the reputation of the game. I personally have nothing against anime, but for some this is the equivalent  of having an advertised "clown mode" where the ships are brightly coloured and the guns make fart noises

I would play the clown mode with guns shooting confetti and torps beeing balloon sharks with squeaky noices when they swim and pink smoke when they hit.

Remember, this was made in the beginning as part of a promotional collaboration in Japan I believe with the SEA office. EU had nothing to do with this. Also, promotional offers are constantly made anyway, so why not get a few free skins out of it? No productivity is lost. Also, you have the option to disable it, so it won't break emersion, not that having USN, RN, KM, IJN and so on fighting together to be very immersive.

Now, if they had made entire new ships that they had spent time modeling and so on, then sure. But considering they are just doing a quick reskin there isn't really a problem.

Hell, the Zao had an Arpeggio skin during the April fools event, and their allready got the effects for lasers done there.

Such a thing is those who like the rust on their ships, and those who favour the clean look. Why is that not added in the game? (It's doable via a mod, but that affects all the ships, having it as a true ingame option allows for mixing, with you in ship X with a clean look, and your neighbor in the same ship which looks like it's been at sea for half a year). Or make that the flags are flown from their correct location (during movement they weren't flown from the stern, but from the main mast),...

But another concern is: polarisation. The implementation of this just split the playerbase quite frankly in two. Those who like it, and are defending it with a seldom observed passion, and those who are truly against it, and defend their stance with an equally fierce fanatism. And meanwhile the EU has a lot of concerns that affect all the players, so instead of fighting and quarreling with eachother, why not combine that energy spent on a thing you can't do anything about (it's here, it's going to stay, but you can happily ignore it if you want, or happily partake in it if you want), and focus on the many other things that deserve our attention, dedication and efforts: the sub-par contests on the EU server, expensive bundles,...

Well, to be honest I have seen several people they state they don't care.

And more importantly, remember that EU had nothing to do with this. It was SEA. EU just decided to say "Hey, they allready made this as part of a collaboration on the SEA, why not take the assets and get them here? They are allready done, it will take no effort at all!"

Aren't you one of the people who complained against this event? What you write right now does look strange, when you were writing against it creating polarisation you are talking about.

I will say this. Proposition to block event is in a way hillarious and shows the level of this community. People are ready to rally against something that by default will not affect them, only because if it were turned on it would clash with their taste. People are willing to block content for other people just because they don't like it. They want to make this event region locked when earlier was complains about region lock events. This doesn't reflect good on the community and people should think about it.

I agree with you that there much bigger concerns that people should focus on, but forum is what forum is. I have slow day at work, so I don't mind this pointless bickering. Most people don't care either way.

This. Voted "for" despite not going to turn it on and not liking anime at all.

MrFingers would probably be complaining if the EU server didnt get this event.

I'm one of the "indifferent" ones. I don't have a desire to see it, but I can understand that the genre has its fans, and they are excited to see this content added ingame. The thing I regret is that there was effort used into making content for a certain niche of players, while there are still issues and concerns that need attention, issues that affect all the players. I understand that a 2D artist has nothing to do with the game mechanics, but it's my opinion that those efforts were better used for something else, especially since there are legio anime modpacks out there for those who wish.

@zombiecheeze: I'm for equality across all servers, for all types of content, so I would be bickering if it didn't come to the EU, eventhough I don't plan on using this mode. You have to be consequent in your actions, and if you're advocating equality across the regions, you should advocate it for all matters, whether those are discounts, the project-R saga, Black Friday fail or this.

Like what? There are already historical cameo skins and stuff like that so mod argument is equall for both. I really don't think there is anything significant to do for 2D artist and sound team. I hope that this is just beginning and we will have more stuff like that comming with anime and without anime. There is stuff to do ofc, but it's not so essential to really be bothered by existance of this anime stuff. The same way not everything you can do with mods, there are no voice overs, custom effects like lasers (probably they will reuse assets from space event) etc. Quality, I am excited for quality.

This stuff was bound to show up, it was just a matter of time. partnership was announced months and months ago.
