  1. 1. Would you buy The Hood?

    • Yes, absolutely, it's "The Hood" after all. I don't care if it's a part of a bundle, I simply want that ship.

    • No, not interested (for any reason).
      35
    • Only if it's NOT a part of a bundle (just the ship itself).

    • Don't know. If the price is right I might think about it.

Howdy, folks,

one day, I hope, we might see The "Mighty" Hood in the game. Thing is, it's an Admiral-class battlecruiser, so it won't be in the regular tech-tree, and thus it will be a premium ship (if and when released). Now, everybody knows The Hood. My question is, would you buy it?

I must admit, I will buy it (if released). No matter the price, bundle, or any other stuff. I just want The Hood. I have some of the premium ships in the game, even the Tirpitz, so I don't really need another. My Tier 10 choices for now are Montana, Zao, and Shimakaze (getting there). Couldn't care less for the Russkies, German ships are unappealing to me, the only another navy I am interested in playing right now is RN. I was actually thinking about buying the Warspite when it was available couple of weeks back, but my hope of seeing The Hood one day has prevented me from doing so. Because it's The Hood, man. So, I'd sell my pants to get it, would you?

First vote and its a Yes! I would buy the Hood, provided I would still play this game on release.

Hood is majestic!

I'm interested in buying premium ships, but I don't have much interest in Hood tbh. So you should either change that or just add "No, I don't want to buy it"

I wanted to play RN, had a lot of interest in it, but all those "WHERE IS RN" topics kinda changed my opinion about it, a lot. *please be gentle to me*

Or this one?

I think HMS Hood would be regular tech tree material not premium. Like the Bismarck.

I totally would

  • if it's not sold in a bundle (that is: "anything more than a ship+slot", so not even one flag extra)
  • if the devs don't give it a deck "armour" made from 24mm of balsa wood, to "reflect the historical context in which the ship was lost" (like they did with the AA(A) of the Tirpitz, because it got sunk by the RAF)

well, it's true that The Hood was the only ship of the Admiral-class built, but i don't think that it'll be a regular tree ship. all the tech-tree ships are the flagships of their own class, and The Hood isn't, although there has not been "Admiral" ship, so it makes it perfect for a premium ship. anyways, if it's going to be a regular ship i am not really that interested. i will need a RN premium ship to train my crews, and The Hood would be perfect. one of the most iconic ships in the RN, so it will be (if released) an instant purchase for me..

i hope WG realises this. if they release The Hood as a premium they will earn a fortune (IMO)..

If you asked me a few days ago the answer would have been, YES.

But I'm now of the opinion that the WoW EU player base is regarded by WG as a bunch of idiots with loads of cash.

So the answer is, NO.

I would if the price was right (a right price for such a ship wouldn't be more than the Bliskawica's IMO). I like battleships with strong armor and heavy flak, with all the admiration the real Hood deserves I don't think I would enjoy her that much in game.

Hood is lead ship of her class- just like Kent/London/Norfolk for the counties, Fiji/Ceylon for the Crown Colonies and Southampton/Gloucester/Edinburgh for the towns(1936).

There will be no "Admiral" in the same way there will be no R class Battleship, Crown Colony, Town (1936), Town (1910), or A/B or C/D destroyers. Admiral is just the theme for the names of the ships, with Hood being the lead.

Since Hood is the lead ship, like Iowa being the lead for her class, then Hood should be the ship in the tree. Also take Bismarck as an example, she is the lead of her class, while Tirpitz is the premium.

As Hood had 3 cancelled sisters, (Anson, Howe, Rodney) - If people so desperately want a premium of Hood, then take the planned modernisation, and give it one of those 3 names, and stick it in as a tier 7 premium.

Yes, however the Hood was a battlecruiser, so it would be out of place in a regular techtree (either the armour will be too weak for its tier, or the guns would be too strong for its tier), plus I think that there are enough regular BB classes to fill an entire BB-branch with.

well, they could do it like with Atlanta. a class leader, as well as a premium ship. i guess The Hood has a great potential as a premium ship, meaning they would sell them by hundreds (again, IMO), and we'd have an iconic ship to sail in and train our RN captains..

Not quite right, Hood is more of a fast battleship than a battlecruiser, having the same effective armour as Warspite and the QEs. Plus you can't build a "battlecuiser" line without Hood.

Edit: We also have Kongo, Myogi & Amagi in the Japanese Battleship tree, apart from that they are all Battlecruisers. Hood has more armour than Kongo & Myogi, and is on par with if not slightly above Amagi

They could have done it with Bismarck... and they didn't, so there is no reason that they would change it for Hood.

Atlanta represents her class, as her class doesn't exactly fit in anywhere in a tech tree. You already have two more logical tier 7 American Light Cruisers that can fill in the tree - Most Likely is Brooklyn, with Helena (a.k.a St Louis(1938) as another premium.

true, but is there any alternative for Bismarck as a regular ship in the German tech-tree? if they did make Bismarck a premium, they would have to put something else in the tech-tree, and i don't know if there is/was anything (although i am no naval historian).

Yes, but only if it comes in a bundle of at least 300 flags, some more doubloons and other useful things that I just do not want to buy without a ship..it's gotta be at least 100 Euros as well..otherwise too many people will buy it and I want to be special..since i had a tough childhood...so please WG make it expensive :honoring:

As a premium ship I probably would... not. I already have a Warspite so having a second premium BB for the same nation seems rather useless. I doubt the Hood has anything special to offer compared to the venerable Warspite, which really is a very good BB. Especially considering the price of a premium around that tier (30ish euros) and WG tendency to initially bloat up the price with a bundle deal, its highly unlikely I'd be tempted enough to buy.

Which brings me to point out a problem for WG: With only a few techtrees ingame its no use to keep bringing out new pemium ships. As a creditgrinder you only really need one decent premium ship. Most players who wanted a premium ship to train their captains are highly likely to have already provided themselves with premium ships to do so. What WG needs to do now, is to introduce new techtrees instead of adding ships like the Hood.

They most probably would have stuck Tirpitz in. Since she was actually built instead of the designs out there, you only need to resort to paper designs where necessary. The fact that Tirpitz is the premium while Bismarck is the regular means that WG want to keep the rule that the lead ship of a class gets the in-tree slot. Think Tatsuta getting renamed to her earlier sister, Tenryu, who came first, and for another example, Shokaku in game was originally called Zuikaku, even though Shokaku came first. They have now corrected that.

I can't think of a design off hand for a german tier 8 battleship, my area of interest and focus is the Royal Navy, hence why I have built up a proposed tech tree for them first.

on its own. for a limited time like tirpitz. She was the pride of the royal navy and her loss was great.

She would be a symbol to many and should not be a common ship
