More fun at T5 and below?

Dunno bout you guys, but I'm finding it more 'fun' with my lower tier ships than my higher ones. From T1's to T5's (St Louis, Phoenix, Omaha, Umikaze, Wakatake, Isokaze, Dresden etc) The games seem to be more 'teamy' and 'gung ho' with guys joining in and not hanging back like they seem to in the higher tiers. Or is it just me being a 'wrinkly'? :)

It's not just you. Lots of people share the same opinion.

I haven't noticed much difference in the "fun factor" going to the upper tiers, but things kinda get more serious, as you meet ships that can deal more potential damage, which makes you play more carefully or otherwise you lose credits.

Low-mid tiers also seem to be more dynamic as well, throughout the whole battle. I guess it's because of the faster reload time on almost everything (except BBs) and people just tend to be more relaxed there...

To each their own, I enjoy high tiers a lot as well since things feel more menacing overall. Currently really big into the Fletcher, that thing wrecks so hard!

Personally I like to think that I like playing specific ships, more so than the tiers they happen to be at, such as Yamato, Fletcher, Fuso and Königsberg.

I'm the same, in World of Tanks, tiers 6-8 were the most entertaining and fun, while tier 10 was for Clam Warz since the gameplay on random matches were...well. Really random.

You know, in these "F2P" games, majority of players want to reach the max tier as fast as possible, no matter how crappy they perform no matter how much they fail AND for some: No matter how much money they spend. They just want those big, nice looking vehicles so they can pretend to be somewhat badass. At the present state of the game the only people who are at the T10, are botters (yes there are bot programs you can buy), brainless grinders and few exceptionally good players who actually have the time and money to reach those tiers before the average players.

Yes  definitely, higher tier are fooking boring to play. People just camp or just stay at the edge of the map there is barely any actions. You spend half the game just sailing..

While lower tier are fun, a lot of fighting going on.

I like both of them. At high tiers you are supposed to have veteran players and can expect better cordination, also the chat is much less toxic in general, but repairs loom, I tend to feel more tense and for that matter the "fun" side goes a bit down the drain sometimes. At lower tiers it's the opposite on every issue, but yet again, you can end into very inexperienced "teams" that will give you worlds of frustration if you care about the style and the statistics, you can easily find the occasional frustrated noob who will insult you all game long, and there are those unbearable maps called straits and the solomons, where either you do nothing or you choose to die.

my highest tier is t7 - and I find good amounts of "fun" playing it

I also enjoy alot all my DD's in IJN tech tree from t4 to t6

which IJN BB's and CV's I got only as high as t5 for the moment being...

and on t5 from time to time I find myself being really irritated by some weird stuff people put out like for example today - brave BB started to receive damage and hence decided to go behind that CV that was supporting him... well yeah apparently I can' killoff 2 cruisers on <10km range DD even closer.... well ok technically I could if that enemy CV would not make a use of my distraction to drop really nasty piece of torps on my face...

ok it was fun "in some way" that two threats that apart from one another I could fend off were so disastrous when combined... which would not happen if that BB did not decided to use CVL as a shield.....

t5 battles are full of weird stuff...

[or that lone BB in the middle of enemy base dying without even calling for help only after dead whining about lack of air coverage from CV's... well I dunno what the other CV was doing but I was busy trying to kill hostile BB that were  a way closer than I'd like it to be.... but then if he even said he needs help I think I could spare that fighter squadron to his assist]

yeah I think my peak would be t6-t7 - high enought for people (mostly) knowing what are they doing low enought so I can actually play it already ^^

I played up to Midway and Hakuryu, that was 2-3 month ago. The amount of bad players on T10 is ridiculous. But I don't think all of them are grinders or botters.

Personally i prefer between 6 and 8 tiers the most, idk why, lower tiers than that just dont interest me, i like to play the ships i spend alot of time on gaining, most of my ships are in the upper tiers. Thats just my opinion though each to their own.

Tier V-VIII are the best for me. And I hope this is a WG precise strategic decision, right or wrong ... I dont know. Otherwise, I'd fire a lot of WoWS managers :D

well for me i enjoy tier 4-8, mostly tier 5-8 though as tier 4 can be to trolly (had a 2nd cruiser following my iwaki yesterday and only shot the enemy ship that i nearly killed for killstealing, and i died as i did not have enough support from him but the last few hp of the 4 ships he killed)

The problem in the lower tiers is that you constantly meet higher tier ships. And what can you do in your Aoba against a 155mm HE spamming Mogami from 18km from 15 barrels? What can your T6 Independence planes do against New Orleans and North Carolina AA? What can your Nicholas do against a Kiev?

I'm with Kenliero on this one.

Very low tiers (1-3) are IMO boring in their own way, partly because of the tiny maps.

Tier 4-7 and occasionally a ride in my Tashkent are where the fun is.

Reposition and kill something else. Pretty simple actually.

At the same rate as you meet +2 ships, you are a +2 ship.

T5 is the best for me for several reasons. Economy is fine, battles are not so long and boring, MM works well and I don't face many CV. Playing JPN DD is stil worth it (i.e I'm not being constantly spoted by planes). Somehow I can't see reasons why to play hight tiers....

^^ The ships are fun in their own right. We all get our kicks from different places, I play from T4 to T10 and as said by someone previously I enjoy playing the ships, not the tier!

I find the tier 3-5 YOLO play somewhat disheartening myself so it is each to their own.  I find it is more forgiving of stupid play at those tiers and the fast firing spam cannons mean it is easier to feel like you are contributing to your team.  I am definitely more at home in my tier 6-8 ships where I feel that things like aim, angling and positional play (i.e. reading the game on your mini-map and making sure you are heading in useful directions) are more important and more rewarded.  I have yet to get to IX and X but I expect I will like them too.

Oh and 1-2 are pretty crap too but you at least don't have to spend much time there...

Tier V is probably my favourite.

For a start that tier has a lot of the best ships. Minekaze, Kongo, Omaha, Murmansk, Koenigsberg.

Then you get into tier IV games which are a frantic laugh usually, and you can get awesome credits and XP.

Then you get into tier 6-7 games which although are harder, are a real challenge - but your ships aren't totally outclassed.

Now I like my tier 8 ships, but I don't like tier 10 games. Tier 7 ships all seem "meh".

yep, game is more fun at tiers 5-7 (8 eventually max), because you don't crap your pants thinking of the repair costs...

In tier 5, you can have a fun yolo fight, and earn good credits dying. At tier 7+, you will loose credits (even with premium)

So for example the only tier 10 i have is the shimakaze (i love jap DDs and 15 torp salvo is beautifull).

On other lines, i stopped at tier 6 to 8, not selling the funships (i have cleveland, fuso, nagato, amagi, mogami, Nürnberg, Kiev, minekaze, and almost finished grinding to the lexington in CVs, not counting some premium ships)

What?  I make a profit at tier 8 running premium with my standard ships...

I currently have only one T8, the Hipper. I love the looks of the ship, but don´t know how to drive it to get constantly good results.

But i have the feeling it is not only because the ship is new for me, but also the gameplay somehow changes at higher tiers... that´s they way i "feel" it.

At lower tiers i have more the feeling to be "in the fight" than at higher tiers. Maybe i just need to get used to ship and tier and will get the same fun as in T4-7.... time will tell.
