But I think this sentence is something exxagerated. To my opinion the Nassaus are much more dreadnoughts then semi, especially if I compare them with other nations classes (France, USA and Japan) of this timeline. I think the Nassaus are the toughest opponent at that timeline to the Bellerophons, also I think the South Carolinas were the progressivst design. Not so much exaggerated as simplified. The development history of the Nassau class is relatively convoluted and I just wanted to make the point that the Nassaus were derived from an initial mixed battery design without posting an essay on the subject. For what it's worth, the ultimate mixed battery design (the one rejected by the Kaiser) was rather similar to the Austro-Hungarian Radetzky class battleships - which isn't really a surprise as they were designed at the same time with similar knowledge of likely opponents (and the Austro-Hungarians similarly considered an all big gun version of the Radetzky design - but in their case they rejected it on the grounds of cost).
