What temp is your cpu when playing WoWS

I have an i7 2.66 with stock cooler and when I switch to desk top during a game the cpu temp is around mid to high 80's, normal temp is around 50. The only other time it gets this hot is when I'm installing all the windows updates after a clean install of Windows 7 OS. Is this game very cpu intensive? My motherboard and gpu are all at normal temps. I'm planning on getting a better cooler so I can over clock it to around 3.2 and Intel say not to use the stock cooler when over clocking, but I wondered if these temps that I'm getting are normal with WoWS or maybe I have a problem brewing. No other game that I've tried causes these temps.

My 6 cores i7 980X 3.3Ghz (no OC) runs WoWS at 50-55 Celsius. Stock cooler. Your temperatures seem high.

On my PC WoWS dont seem CPU intensive, rather GPU intensive (I use a Sapphire 7950).

i7 5820K - never had CPU go over 55-60C

But then, i have a huge cooler and it is far from the stock one.

Yea I think I'll invest in a better cooler quickly before the cpu melts its way back to China.

AMD Phenom II quad x965 black edition - while playing WoWs on high it does not come even remotely close to how it heats while playing such Guild Wars 2 or sth... :P

[basically it stays under 70 I believe?]

i5, 4690K sitting at 26ºC in port, 29ºC in game sometimes pushes low 30's.  (using a corsair h100i cooler).

80 seems a bit high.

are you sure that's cpu temperature, or socket temperature?

My AIO cooler developed a leak, go figure, and I decided to go back to air... If you want a cheap but very very good air cooler I can highly recommend the one I got... Raijintek themis evo

About £25 on Amazon.... I5 3570k@4.6/ all core.... Never above 62 degrees.... But also always remember that case airflow is at least as important as good cooler, work out how your air travels in and out of your case, remove internal obstacles etc and you would be surprised at how much difference it does make... Also check that the current HSF you have is seated properly and that your thermal compound is not deteriorated.....

That looks a good cooler, thanks for the advice, I'll look into it. I have a good number of large fans and its only a foot off the floor in a cool room and all other temps stay low, its just the cpu that has this problem but it has the cheap cooler that came with it. Judging by everyone else's comments its just me that has temp probs, so I'd better get on to Amazon asap.

42° but i'm liquid cooled :child:

Gave up on that last time I had a leak and cost me another mobo.... Funnily enough while I was looking into it I saw that raijintek do one for about £63 which out performs corsair H100i, twin 140mm fans on a heatsink... Funny as hell... Huge as hell too lol....

Was tempted but went for the slightly lighter one, both on pocket and case lol...

x 5650 @ 4.4 ghz .. temp depends.. 45-48 with the corsair h100i

i5 2500k @ 4.8 ghz is at 60ish when i play wows .. but the airflow isn´t realy that good.

Intel chips can take some heat.. but it depends how you did check the temps... you used coretemp ?

if you want to test your system use

"prime95"

with

"coretemp"

and check the temp non stop.. coretemp @ 80-85 is safe.. 90ish will be safe too.. but well.. you know the lifespan...

Ain for below 60 for maximum longevity and a cushion against unforeseen circumstances

Never seen my A10 7800 over 60-65 degrees (fans at <40% load at that point), using stock fans.

Considering messing a bit with my fans, for them to go faster to get a lower overall temp on my gpu/cpu.

80 °C on desktop is way too much. Even the Pentium D back then didn't go over 60 with stock cooler. If I were you I would check temps on other components, most likely you need to improve airflow in your case. On the other hand laptop CPUs go as high as 95 – 100 °C.
