Armo1000 Alpha Tester 686 posts 650 battles Report post #1 Posted November 11, 2015 I have noticed lately that allot of the more long term members on the forum have become Supertesters all of a sudden. Did WG do a new round of recruiting? or where people randomly chosen based on how long they have been here? Just curious about this.
[IDDQD] von_chom Alpha Tester 3,465 posts 11,649 battles Report post #2 Posted November 11, 2015 there is no random selection, you have to apply first in proper topic or be recommended by other ST I doubt that this will change because it seems to work nice since there was zero leaks from EU ST group

Ascender Beta Tester 468 posts 5,440 battles Report post #6 Posted November 11, 2015 Hm. A quick question on the subject that hopefully won't break any of your NDA's, how do you test as supertester? Is this on a separate server (I expect it is) and if so, how do you do battles? Are there queue times of 45 minutes or do battles often happen as 2vs2 or is it regulated to happen at certain times so more population is generated at those times? Not necessarily thinking about becoming a supertester but I am a little more interested now in understanding what actually goes on in that dark corner of the room! Thanks! We test on a separate server. However, you may have noticed that sometimes we test new ships on the live server. Most of the testing is not around random battles. For example, testing for bugs in new maps or changes to ship models can be completed in a training room.

[ST-EU] OldGrandad Supertester 3,404 posts 35,711 battles Report post #10 Posted November 11, 2015 Hello All, For those that are interested in becoming a Supertester, need to understand that a lot is required of you. The obvious pro from becoming a Supertester is that you become privy to seeing and trying new ships and other content long before they become available on the main server. The cons are that you have to go over and over with tests on the new content to try and see if bugs are still there after release from the studio. We test on a couple of other servers, often in conjunction with fellow colleagues from all the other regions, RU, NA and Asia all testing the same issues. It does not stop there, we then require you to write up reports on your tests in the fullest detail, not exactly fun I can tell you! That is where it ends with us, as then the information is then handed over to the studio for them to make changes or judgements to suit. But, it is satisfying, as that you know you have done your bit in trying to make the game better no matter what others outside of the testing arena think! Another but! There is no payment, no 'extras' for testing, only self satisfaction in testing alongside some great people, that for me is more than enough. Regards, Ducat.

LooneyBin Beta Tester 354 posts 1,037 battles Report post #15 Posted November 11, 2015 So that's why updates have so many bugs. Applying a patch to the server, that might cause a bug with something else. So, the ST's can only test for what they're asked to test for, if a new bug shows its ugly face due to a new patch, then it doesn't mean that the ST's didn't test for bugs, but simply that it's a new bug.
