I recently bought Atago and Atlanta and for a few days they were great, win a few lost a few but they were fun. There's that word again FUN. Now they are shell magnets and whether I stay at the back or move forward, I die within a few hits. I know some will say I'm crap cos  I'm too old or something like that and you may be right, but it doesn't change the facts for me at least. I used to love playing them now I'm beginning to hate them, something has changed and not for the better. I don't pay over £50 for ships that are now next to useless. So I've asked for a refund on Atago and will be doing the same for Atlanta if things don't improve, which is a pity because they both look good and played really well.

I'll just keep playing with the two Russian ships Aurora and Mermansk, I know they are lower tier but they're great fun and I spend hours with them. Maybe I'll just stick to lower tier from now on and spend my money on other games. That Steel Ocean looks interesting.

Welcome to higher tiers, where people actually know how to aim, BBs guns can 1 or 2 shot you and where every step you do as a cruiser is one danger after another.

Atlanta and Atago are great ships, both with its perks but very efficient when played right. Atlanta is specially good on ranked battles where the loss one 1 DD can hurt much more than the loss of a cruiser.

According to this you have neither of those two ships but I'm not sure if they just refund really quickly either way to get the best out of them you need to have at least some experience in comparable warships.

Also as of the most recent patch the Atago is even better than it was previously and it wasn't a bad ship by any measure really.

With Atlanta, you have a strong case. There is at least one thread ongoing at the moment talking about its performance as a tier 7 ship being well below par.

The example of the Atago that you give is strange, because people have been reporting in other threads that she seems STRONGER since 5.1 was implemented. She not only has the repair facility, and quicker rudder shift, but is benefiting from the problems with AP shells that Battleships are having. People are reporting that the Atago can now get close to a BB and torpedo it quite easily -  having very good torpedo firing arcs.

my win rate in atalanta il like 60%... play it as a cruise support AA ship and sail side to a heavy BB....  or give AA defence to a carrier and just wait for the DD's to appeer. take your time and play the ship how it is made to. you can never go strait into a battle direct against a obama or cleveland/myoko... you die. you need to use the ship in a different way!!. it's a great ship, i love my pepper spray HE atalanta.

Actually, according to that page he did, but only in Coop. Damn, 22 Battles in Random and over 1500 in Coop... Now, I do not have much experience with the new bots, but I'm pretty sure they are not better than human players, at least most of them, so how do you die within a few shells? That does not seem to make much sense to me. I know cruisers are fragile, but with the right maneuvering and angling they can dish out tons of damage while staying relatively safe. The new patch kind of reversed things, though, so at least against battleships right now it seems to be smarter not to angle, but better don't get used to that, since it's definitely gonna get changed. I just decided to take a small break until they fix it.

You're probably a shell magnet, because people like me take preference in shooting wallet warriors over stock ships.

Especially the Atlanta, because it's so easy to kill.

@Antony1953 - I am afraid your ability with this game is sorely lacking. I am asking you to never pay for ships before you can master the ones that are free as you have pitiful results in them. Please do not blame age as I am only a few years younger than you. I suggest to study more videos, read more informative threads/posts about how to play before actually embarking on more battles. Do not blame the ships as they have good records with captains that can sail them well, look within for the failings and try to adapt your play style to suit.

This guy plays CO-OP only. 1533 Battle of co-op. Holy crap. I htought Co-op was supposed to be the "here I'l give you a hand and teach you how to shoot other ships" mode.

Well ... I guess if you were born in 1953 ... WHAT THE F ! :D

Excellent advice, and as you say AGE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

You  need to be more careful, cruisers arent the tanks you think they are if you end up dying to other players. I myself play the myoko right now and i avoid to go full broadside and dont venture too close, usually makes me survive more and allows me to do more damage in the end.

Use your ship correctly and you will rewarded accordingly.

Looking at your results in Co-op they seem to be performing in line with your other ships, each one increasing the damage you do from the preceding one.

Pheonix IV average damage 20308.40

Murmansk V average damage 22710.07

Atlanta VII average damage 27635.92

Atago VIII average damage 34012.56

The Aurora III seems to do very well for you though 25417.09, it is your most played by a long shot though so you know how to play it to its strength I assume.

I bought the Gnevny the other day and went into a co-op battle to get the feel of her. 6 minutes into the battle 5 of my team including 3 tier 6 BB's had been sunk by the bots!

There are no rules to say you can't play as much as you like in Co-op battles, pretty much the same as getting WOWS on a disc and playing at home against the computer so no need for the lack of respect. If anything you are acting like a gobby little spotty 12 year old.

I don't blame him playing co-op - probably doesn't like the toxic chat on random. However the Atlanta still seems fun after the patch - not played it on co-op for ages though so maybe the bots are programmed to hit it hard!!And what is wrong with buying Premium ships - if no-one bought stuff on here and everyone simply played for free, there would be no game. I bought the Atanta after getting my Pensacola for some light relief. Now I have the New Orleans, boy do I need something to lift the spirits!

Check out TheMightyJingles video "World of Warships Public Test 0.5.1 " - round about the 10 minute mark.  ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fe6UTQ9UgW0 )

Referring to the AI, he states: "I'm very, very impressed with just how good it has become in this patch."

This is a bit OTT, but he is right that there is a significant improvement in the AI. I've recently downloaded Aslains Mod pack for the first time and am trying out the new aiming crosshairs in Co-op. I've noticed the AI improvement also.

As others mentioned already, he is mainly a Co-op player with 1500+ battles played.

The reason why your Atlanta and Atago suddenly seem to suck are not because they are worse in any way now. In fact they both got buffed in the last patch, especially the Atago.

You are having trouble now since the AI of the bots you face in Co-op has been greatly improved in patch 0.5.3.

Unfortunately I can't offer you any advice apart from looking at some guides and videos to improve as a player now that the AI is stronger.

The ships are in no way at fault here since they have gotten stronger in the last patch, although it should be mentioned that the Atlanta is without a doubt a ship that is very difficult to play and requires a lot of skill to utilize well.

@Antony1953 letting your teammates down by leaving a game at the very beginning (even if it is Coop) because you don't like the kind of map (Ocean) isn't a nice behavior, please reconsider your way of playing a multiplayer game, thank you...

The bots are much improved over the last 2 patches - more 1st salvo hits more citadel hits and more vital system damage every salvo than ever before.

Stupid comments from an obvious juvenile - people play co-op to avoid bumping into players like you.

He plays against bots.

So do I - its more fun, less damaging on the ears {abuse}, challenging yes challenging because the bots are much improved, still not up to human standards but not the total push overs they once were.

Antony you still have much to learn and co-op is still the way to go. Ducat has a point you can learn a lot from watching the videos from more seasoned players. I have the ATAGO and ATLANTA and find them very fine ships when you use their respective strengths correctly.

So how do I avoid a map, that Ocean thing is very boring and quite annoying as well.

It's very simple: You can't.

Antony, Ocean is actually the most realistic map for a warship battle. The teams tend to stick together on this map so safety in numbers and use of your range is probably the best way to go for you. Alternate your speed and 'wiggle' when in range of the enemy making your ship difficult to hit. (not sure if this works in co-op but certainly does in PvP).
