And it's so bloody frustrating when you are trying to get that first event mission thing done.. Watching a BB I've just nailed with torps flooding and set on fire with my guns only too see it get destroyed on 712 hp by another damned player

this has always been how it works.

 

it's why xp/credits are worked out based primarily on damage done, rather than on number of kills. that way even if you don't finish someone off, but you did most of the damage, you still get rewarded appropriately for having done most of the damage.

Someone made the point on another thread that in some ways it would be better if "kills" were not recorded at all.

 

Considering all the heat and frustration so-called "Kill stealing" generates, I am starting to agree.

 

Perhaps it would have been better if the event mission had had different criteria than kills. :unsure:

I got torped by a friendly T10 CV while I was close to an enemy Iowa which I was about to torp. He killed the Iowa and wrecked my ship. The genius,

Hahem.. the current new mission requires kills.. Yes exp is the main point, and that is damage dealt, but when you already have one kill, are dead and have just about wiped that BB you nailed with torps with flooding damage (312 hp and still flooding with multiple floods) it's damned frustrating to see that nice 1,mil credits and free port slot wiped away from you.

 

Please WG everything else is based on damage or hits, or planes shot down, why was this one kills.

Should have it checked, there is this nission that will last till next month IIRC that requires 2 kills and a win on random to get 1 mill and ship slot. So yes, they made killstealing the "now" thing.

That victory condition is there exactly for making sure that rear line hiders won't finish mission so easily:

Because if many players just hide in rear waiting for easy kills that often allows competent enemy to curbstomp those actually trying to help team win.

 

And anyone who consistently does good damage to enemy team doesn't need to play long to get multi-kill match.

So you shouldn't have no problems in finishing that mission soon.

Especially BBs should be finished as fast as possible because of its last broadside might single shot some ship or do heavy damage lowering team's victory chances.

What others said.

 

In general kills means nothing to me, damage is more interesting.

 

As for the mission, getting two kills in a battle shoudn't really be difficult. You'll be more lucky next time perhaps.

Took me exactly four (!) battles to get that mission done. Was doing it while training my russian destroyer and german cruiser captains.. so I deem it really, really, REALLY simple to manage to finish that mission.

So you never shoot an enemy that is already damaged? You see an enemy with 10% live and just leave it to seek one at 100%?

 

normally I'm shooting at a ship until it dies... (there are exceptions for reasons that should be obvious eg, playing a cruiser, firing at a cruiser or bb and spot a destroyer)

First game after the patch. Koenigsberg. 3 kills, 5 citadels 70k damage. Job done. Now I can help everyone out by leaving low health targets to finish off :)

Any actually good player should easily complete this mission in handfull of matches regardless of losing some kills.

And average player should have plenty of time to finish mission before its removal.

 

I didn't even bother/notice to read that completing mission had victory condition.

And just followed WW2 era Finnish saying "Tulta munille!" (roughly meaning Fire at their balls) having usual seal clubbing match.

Even had few cruisers lacking respect to keep distance when showing their side, so sent engine room crews some express telegrams.

But wish I could trust teams to be able to kill enemies fast enough for victory.

I've had so many matches in which I had to push and pull team full time to get victory.

Guess I should division with some others who know what they're doing...

(and have seal clubbing of enemy team in nearly every match)

I can understand your frustration, but the mission is valid until the end of the year, so I recommend to continue playing as usual and you will get it eventually without a hassle.  :)

Good thing i got the mission completed in my first game after the patch, in my trusty Arkansas Beta. Got them legitimately as well and dealt a lot of damage in the game, over 70k damage.

How the hell did you form the idea that kill stealing is a "Wargaming thing"? If it's in range, or better yet, in range and on low HP, you damned well shoot it, that's not a World of [Warstuff] thing.

Really, people are having enough trouble with a "Kill 2 enemies and win" mission to go complain about it on the forums?! Oh man, you're in for a world of hurt and frustration once they start introducing missions you actually have to work for...

Friend of mine just uninstalled the game for having played 20 games, working hard to get kills only to see them taken from them in  the last second.

 

Honestly, I understood that, watching someone else killing that BB that he worked 5 minutes to grind down in his Karlsruhe with the very last possible HP, the guy who took that kill could be glad he was sitting anonymiously behind a PC far away.

 

Theory of it being easy versus the reality that some people actually "wait" to make sure their last salvoe gets them the kill...I would have given him the Baseball bat he demanded at that moment.

 

"Kills" should play no role, the message should be removed, it should not be a precondition for any of these achievements. It just means bad blood.
