Punishment/Penalty for withholding fire to make last shot/a kill

Punishment for withholding fire to make last shot/kill

  1. 1. Players withholding fire to make last shot/kill should be punished.

    • Yes, dieing because of this, or losing kills because of this is annoying.

    • No, it's funny to let teammates die and "profit" from their hard work.

Hello,

I have noticed some annoying behaviour in this game by some people/players. Not exactly sure who they are... but they ain't cool.

What these players do is... they wait and wait and wait... until the enemy ship is almost dead... and only then they fire... in hopes of getting the kill.

All this holding of fire can lead to teammates being killed because enemy was not killed sooner.

Perhaps developers should do more research into this (or perhaps they are already aware of this happening) or players that like making replays record it and make youtube videos or so.

To be fair I sometimes kill off enemy ship with carrier bomber or torpedo but for carriers this kinda of does not apply cause they cant shoot and withhold so to speak.

But for all other ships this applies.

Perhaps a penalty or punishment can be introduced which would give the kill to the player that did the most damage under these circumstances: (Plus health bonus/penalty/revive/death see below)

Conditions to detect this "withholding of fire to get last shot/kill":

1. Player A did most damage to Enemy X.

2. Player A fired upon Enemy X in the last few seconds repeatedly/multiple times.

3. Player B withheld fire for at least a few seconds while fire was ready to fire.

4. Player A dies or gets severly hurt by this same Enemy X during this withholding of fire of Player B.

5. Enemy X dies only a few seconds later, maybe like 1 or 2 seconds later by hands of Player B which fired...

5.1 Perhaps an additional condition should be if enemy X and teammate A were both almost dead... and the difference Player B could have made would have made teammate A survive.. Especially in these circumstances it's bitching.

5.2 Generally stealing kills is kinda annoying too

Now the game should introduce a penalty / punishment !

6. The killed player (A) should be REVIVED ! and a voice should say that too: REVIVED !

7. The unsportive player (B) should be PENALIZED ! and a voice should say that too: PENALIZED !

8. The unsportive player (B) gets some of it's health subtracted if it had health enough and if not it will unfortunately die... now that player can feel how it's like.

When the player B dies a voice should say: FOK YOU or... DIE... or UNSPORTIVE BEHAVIOUR ! I know a funny one which applies very well: TRAITOR ! (or even F*G! or STEALER ! or SNOOZER ! =D)

9. In case player A didn't die... but was severly hurt it will get a HEALTH boost... the health that was subtracted from the Player B/BAD is added to the good Player A.

I'd love a feature like that... I'd also love it... if a tutorial would explain that score is mostly based on damage, not kills.

Though I can understand why some... maybe noobs... want the kill.. so they get that cool voice: "warship destroyed !".

But personally I do not believe... that this is worth waiting for and then consequently letting your teammate die.

I truely believe that players "withholding fire" to get the last shot and thus the kill should be punished somehow by the system !

I have a feeling many will probably agree.. so I am also going to make a poll... so you can vote your oppinion.

(Though some anomyous cowards might vote in favor of withholding haha !

I could make the poll not anonymous (I think) but not gonna do that. Apperently anonymous is the only option so these two lines can be ignored for now ;) :))

Bye,

  Skybuck.

KIlls matter  less than damage done, so if players are behaving like this their punishment is to earn fewer credits and lower XP.

Problem with this is... his teammate died and is punished as well... too harsh of a punishment really ?

I for one in my battleship will happily blat a cruiser for 90% of its health and leave the remains to a kill jockey.... Damage % means more XP kills are just bragging rights... Much rather 100k plus damage with zero kills to 20k damage with 4 kills... Means I have worked hard for my team... Live guys that finish off targets for me

exactly, you are not robbed of XP or credits, it's the % of the damage done that counts.

And it's especially better for cruisers or Destroyers to take that last shot to kill, because a salvo from a BB would be a waste, it's better to fire at someone with more health.

If in my BB i shoot someone to 1000/2000 HP, i hapilly let them be killed by teammates and instead put  my salvo to better use on another ship.

I don't think you understand.

Your choice is very limited in this situation:

1. Either your teammate helps you finish off the last 10%

or

2. The enemy finishes you off.

There is no other conclusion.

YOU NEED YOUR TEAMMATE TO HELP YOU TO SURVIVE... IF HE DOESNT HELP AND WAITS the consequence is that YOU DIE.

Do you still feel he should LET YOU DIE ? just to get the kill ?

Or should he be punished for watching you get slaughter while one or two little shots could have prevented that ?! ;)

(Poll question, slightly changed, to reflect this better ! ;) Actually now that I think about it some more... I also kinda dislike how people tend to steal kills... this is also very annoying... so reverted poll back to how it was originally :) though I will change the answers a little bit to reflect some of this :))

I can understand the problem for you but I can assure you that WG has bigger features to concentrate on.

I can't see a viable way to decide which is killstealing and which is just helping out. I've stolen kills, but usually say sorry -or at least admit to the ninja kill in chat. Getting an enemy gun off the map is usually a good thing, his next shot could quite easily be a citadel, or a magazine hit on YOU! So sink them, and sink them fast. Yeah it sucks when you have a knife fight, and deserve the kill, but it's not something to get tearful about.

wow, probably playing the wrong game if your bothering about this sort of thing. In case you hadn't noticed, its a team game (loosely), so its about your team winning. In any case, you cant always guarantee your actually going to hit the target your shooting at. As long as the target sinks, I don't care who has the kill shot.

When driving one of my DD's I would happily finish off any pesky red DD or CA that is spotting me, since being spotted or not beung spotted may easily mean the same as being sunk or not being sunk myself.

And I won't frown upon anyone else doing the same. In any ship. A red ship with 1 HP left can still oneshot you or someone else from your team.

+1  :honoring:

That's my attitude as well.  (Not that I ever get 100k damage in one of my cruisers! )

Its funny when a CV player talks about kill stealing. I had plenty of cases when I was rushing one of the two nearby enemy BBs with an USN DD (short range torps) and "accidently" CV decides to attack the same BB that I am committed to (with speed boost and smoke) instead of torping the other one.

You can't tell when friendly cruiser will finish reloading, but you can surely tell from the above where the DD is going to.

Yes, I have indeed noticed annoying player behaviour in some matches.

Some players just don't seem to be able to deal damage to enemy and either basically suicide or hide in rear cruising around.

And if I start checking stats after the match I'll often find low average damages, lowish hit ratios&XP...

Just like you have.

YOU NEED YOUR TEAMMATE TO HELP YOU TO SURVIVE... IF HE DOESNT HELP AND WAITS the consequence is that YOU DIE.

So in first post you claimed people want to only engage that weak crippled enemy for getting kill and now suddenly they don't do that?

And speaking of that helping team by putting hits into enemies constantly and consistently you're in need of serious gunnery practising.

Same thing happened in WoT, statpadders wanting to pad their K/D.

Those who don't want to actively engage enemy but wait in second line for stealing kills wouldn't have good overal stats.

Their average damage would be substandard and also win ratio suffers because that behavior puts rest of the team into disadvantage.

What the fk did I just read.

Seriously? What?

Dude, stop caring about kills. You said it yourself in your post, damage is rewarded more. If you get a huge amount of xp at the end of the match, what do you care about some killstealer who got, say, 6 kills (intentional killstealers never get that high amount btw, I've never seen it in this game, at most they get 3-4) if he has cinsiderably less xp than you do?

Your "system" would punish battleship players who withold their shots while waiting for targets to show broadside (which is a valid tactic that wins games) so they can blow them away with one salvo.

Surely you can realise nothing good would come out of something like this.

No offense but killstealing does not really exist in WG games. Damage done and getting enemy guns out of the game is what counts. Sure you got those shortsighted people holding back their shells to snack kills but i got no problem with that. Theyre cutting their own flesh in the long run.

My advise would be to practice abit more and try to raise your kill/death ratio above 1. I can understand that its frustrating seeing other people "stealing" your kills when you have to wait and play 4-5 games for each sunken enemy. Once you achieve to sink an enemy every game you wont care for kills as much as you do now.

i think that we need even more complicated system ... smthg like that the stats of similar behavior is gathered over battles and if you stick out you will be placed in better teams so that you could not do this anymore ... but if you still do then ban: 1h, 3h, 6h. 1d etc plus taking gold and other stuff (up to prem ships) from you account and donating to guys who suffered because of you. finally they will come to you home and beat you up ...

voted i dont care ...

I've honestly never seen such behaviour. Too busy concentrating on the game. I sometimes withhold fire to get a better shot and I will also "kill steal" if I'm best placed to finish the ship off. I'll also leave low health ships to others if they are best placed. Any attempt to detect this kind of behaviour will fail and be unfair.

It's also pointless. Damage counts more for XP and finishing off low health targets is often a very important part of the game.

Some people go for a cap to win, I always feel its more important to sink the other ships. That way you don't have to worry about the cap. With that in mind, once I have engaged my first target, I will look around for the nearest target that will be the easiest to help finish off.
