Hello all,

I just bought a new gaming laptop and WOWS simply doesnt run smooth, i get 10-18 fps all the time now. I had a 2,5 year old desktop and never did i have a problem with wows, not even in the beta, but now its anoying as hell. These are the specs of my new laptop:

My processor: Intel® Core™ i7-5700HQ CPU @ 2,70 HGz

RAM: 8,00 GB

Graphics card: GeFroce GTX950M

Operating system: Windows 10

Does someone have any clue what it might be?

are you sure you are using your graphics card and not the intel hd graphics to run wows?

//edit: maybe try rightclicking the wows executable and selecting something like "run with graphics processor"

Gaming and laptop simply don't go well together because of certain laws of physics, so your "old" desktop PC might well have better GPU.

Remember that when making graphics settings.

install newest driver for your card:

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

  1. Open the Windows Start Menu
  2. Enter “Nvidia control panel” into the Search field and run it
  3. Select “Manage 3D Settings” from the option in the left-hand panel
  4. Select "World of warships" to change the graphics processor for  it under "Select a program to customize".
  5. Select your NVidia graphics card under "preferred graphics processor" instead of the default “auto-select”

//edit i hope the naming of the options is correct, as i am personally using another language than english on my computers

GTX950M

Stronk gamming GPU :hiding:That card in TOO weak for gammig. 2GB VRAM is also not enough for WOWS on higher settings.

My gaming laptop has the 940M and runs WOWS and several other similar games on high settings with no problems at all.

I have a Gt 650M in my Laptop and run it on a 42" TV at 1920x1080 with medium settings without problems (Except there are to many planes in the air), then it drops to 20 franes

Ähem, while I agree that a GTX 950m is no "gaming card". Its more than enough suited to play some games (yes thats a difference) albeit not in full quality in numerous cases.  Also a desktop would usually yield better performance for the same price, but there are maybe reasons for OP to chose a Notebook, which are frankly none of our business.

For the 2 GB Vram not enough? For what triple 4k monitor setup? Sure. I am running 1920x1200 @ 4xSGSSAA on 2 GB. Dont bother searching that AA setting ingame, its not there and it does consume additional VRam compared to whats available in settings ingame.

gaming & laptop = fail

its just a marketing trick to sell an overpriced (but still shitty) laptop to people who like to play games.

there is no such thing as a gaming laptop... get some real machine, or enjoy the low settings/FPS on your brand new "gaming laptop" :D

How sad is your life?

You feel better by putting other people down on forums?

To to the OP, happy you got it fixed and that people on here helped out. Laptops work better for some people and I'm one of them. My Asus G751jy has a 980m 8gb vram and 24gb on ram. It's great for working away from the office and if I wanna play the latest games I can.

So you've owned one? I doubt it.

I live in very small flat with my wife and teenage daughter, we have no room at all for a desktop to be set up permanently. So we use laptops. I have recently bought an MSI GP60 that I saved up for over two years and I can tell you matey that compared to my previous standard type laptop it's like flying an F15 after flying a Sopwith Camel.

I play several games, WOT, WOWS, WT and AW and could only play any of them on min settings, I couldn't play the last game at all. Now I play all of them on high graphics comfortably and it's amazing.

So take your desktop snobbery and jog on sunshine, come back when you know what your talking about.

Lol..my "gaming laptop" kicks me up to barely 30fps on the lowest settings :D Got 4gig ram and an i7 (new gen) as well..plus 500GB SSD..which seems to be the case why i load into games quicker than most ppl. But no graphic card...thus using my ram...lol

Well it's a working laptop..and funny enough on my high end desktop at home..I run high fps on high settings, but i get constant lag spikes due to the ping..no idea why..but it's annoying as hell..So I stick to my laptop with really crap graphics :teethhappy:

On the other hand they arent great in my opinion.

And WOT/WOWS are hardly demanding or graphically great so nothing really to shout out about.

In general terms gaming on a laptop and "gaming laptops" are somewhat fail because most people with tech savvy know there's quite a big margin however you are right for certain games a higher end laptop should be fine, but I wonder how much do they set u back?

Not worth it in a million years for me but then I dont have space constraints.

And also your space constraints arguement is somewhat weak because I could build a micro or mini itx that would whip a laptop and still be considerably cheaper. So yeah in my opinion I'd rather not game at all on a laptop...

Space constraints argument is pretty valid. He must not have a desk to have a desktop on so a laptop that can go room to room on just used on a Table when needed is the best fit. Mini itx or not it's still needs the room for it.

Exactly, no room for a desk at all. I play with the laptop on the arm of my armchair. It sounds crap but actually its pretty comfy.

Intel HD Graphics

wows runs fine

What version, and really? I'm assuming on very low settings, my old 5870 had difficulty running the game above low/medium.

My new GTX 960 runs it fine on ultra/high.
