Why do Mutsuki only have 2 cannons?? Not that it matters that much in a DD,but from 1942 it had 4 as the picture in following link shows https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/17/Mutsuki-1.jpg

well ..... ingame Mutsuki does have 4 guns, you just have to not select the hull (the aa-ish-one) which takes two away.

That picture you posted is from ONI, which is US Naval Intelligence, and depicts a Mutsuki in pre-war state. Later in the war some Mutsukis were given more AA power (25mm mounts) in exchange for main guns. Some had 3 main guns left, some had 2.

 

 If you don't like it that way, you can keep the 4 guns with the 2nd hull.

Since many IJN DDs were being used as escorts in WW2, they found out that AA guns are more useful than (terrible vs air) main guns, so many surviving ships got their turrets replaced by more 25mm. You can see the same in the game with Hatsuharu, Fubuki and Kagerou. It was useful in real life, not so much in the game!

Some light cruisers and heavy cruisers also got the same. Takao-class Maya (Atago's sistership) had one of her third 203mm turrets removed for extra 25mm guns.

Most japanese destroyer underwent a lot of modifications during the war. Most of them got more anti aircraft defenses and radar until the end of the war. For that, on most ships, gun turrets were removed as they were not really very effective. As the picture says, it´s the mutsuki class. By the end of the war, no two Mutsuki class ships were the same.

Some had two guns, some had three, some had four ... some even had a torpedo launcher removed.

 

Actually, I found the Mutsuki in game to have quite effective AA. My most shot down planes in a single battle was in a Mutsuki...

The upgraded guns on the C hull fire more than twice as fast as the stock ones and have better turret rotation. So the upgraded ship may only have 2 guns but is in fact a more effective gunboat than the stock Mutsuki. For what that is worth.

I personaly use C hull and second guns and it is ok.
