I have a similar issue. Since Monday 19th October, after applying the 5.0.3 patch, the fps are really unstable, the sound is stuttering, mostly during gun fire and the fps are around 10-14 when in combat. Before the patch, it ran smoothly even on very high settings

Yeah there is something weird going on with the sound. It's rather disgraceful on WGs part to still have the fps problems we had many patches ago yet call this a released game.

For anybody wondering there are some threads that show some issues with the game and go into more details about a DLL that might be messing with performance

Same here, low tier battles used to run pretty smoothly....now its slows down massively when shooting happens to unplayable levels, 1-2 fps. Seems to be directly related to shooting which is ofc worse at low tier with all the machine gun ships with high ROF.

What is happening here is probably the new german and russian ships. This will force the game to load more diverse models.

The game works smooth as long as windows has enough RAM to cache all these tiny little files. Because of these new models it's likely that windows has to cache even more files.

This could mean (funny enough/schadefreude lol) that your system is now finally running out of RAM !

I am trying to find a solution for this problem myself for now no software solution found. (Though there probably is a software solution possibility).

For now your hardware solution/options are:

1. Install more RAM for more caching effects.

2. Or install/run WoW from an SSD to avoid Harddisk stalls/loads and so forth... not sure if SSD will be fast enough to warrent it... but some say it will help and is fast enough.

If you have any idea other ideas I am all ears ! ;)

(Personally I think all these little files should be stored in a big file... this will probably help a lot to avoid fragmention and wasting memory space).

Though the game is actually quite large 12 GB ?! or so ?!

So maybe some day this game might require 12 GB of RAM !;)

My system only has 4 GB and is 10 years old almost... so time for an upgrade of my system or a new system... though been stalling it for various reasons.

I would be curious to know what all of your systems RAM ammount is ?!

This could shed some light on what the RAM requirements are for this stutter/issue to happen ! ;)

It's probably a gradual thing... it gets worse and worse and worse as the system runs out of ram ! ;)

Though there could also be something inherently wrong with this game... it appears as if there is enough RAM even with just 4 GB...

Somehow this game is reading/writing/caching to/from disk unneccesarily... maybe a free/allocate bug...

It could just be some weird memory bug in the game.

Actually windows 7, 64 bit edition seems to have an issue where the cache will consume all physical ram ! ouch !

Well, SkybuckFlying, how do you explain that World of Tanks with a lot more of models works flawlessly in my machine on very high with no fps drops and World of Worships got messed up overnight? It's all in the patch! They messed up something in coding, and now thay'll have to figure it out. Let's just hope that they dont take forever to do it as i suspect that no averege joe will ever spend a lot of mney to upgrade the computer just for a video game!

Actually windows 7, 64 bit edition seems to have an issue where the cache will consume all physical ram ! ouch !

16GB works nicely for caching game date into RAM and after first round of matches I get everything ready typically with 15s left in match count down.

Unlike Windows itself and all programs bloating up memory used for file caching isn't "locked"/wasted memory.

At the moment anything needs more RAM Windows just overwrites oldest cached data with data of that program or makes asked size memory reservation.

While shipload of bubble gum&duct tape rigging Flash based SSDs require first clearing old data before new data can be written RAM (like HDD) can access location directly and simply overwrite old data without any performance penalty.

It's that Physical Memory percentage and bar graph/reading under it in Task Manager's Performance-tab which tells how badly bloated software is running on that PC.

Day or two ago had in one match fps suddenly drop for some time.

Besides that I haven't had any unusual unexplained slow downs either before or after the latest patch.

Well, SkybuckFlying, how do you explain that World of Tanks with a lot more of models

You could probably fit dozen tank models into one DD ship model.

Complexity is on entirely different scale.

Just had FPS suddenly drop to around 10fps during match.

Alt-tabbing/visit on Windows and returning to game cured FPS drop, but after that it was like client had serious network/sync issues with server with ship turns etc happening after delay... with ship on screen abruptly changing direction and even sliding sideways.

SkybuckFlying, i didnt mean to offend you, i'm a peasant when it regarts to programing or filling :p and im sorry if i did  any harm to you

Regarding the fps, well, if someone report the issue to de developers, maybe they maybe do something about it. But one thing is for sure, it's not as good as it was.

Now its a wait game

Best regards every one!

:)

P.s.: I tried to go to the report error page and it says: "website is currently unavaiable due to maintenance works"

Here is what I'd like you guys/gals to do to get to the bottom of this and get some more prove of what is going on with windows.

The next time you noticed an FPS drop, do the following:

Start-up Task Manager and then write down and post the following numbers (under physically memory):

Total

Cached

Available

Free

Especially the Free is interesting to know.

Also state which operating system you are using.

Especially the Free is interesting to know.

Free alone doesn't matter unless size of cached is zero or very little.

And after having had PC on for some time with use that "Free" memory should always be very low or caching isn't working.

(unless you just quitted very memory consuming program and released memory hasn't yet gotten used for caching)

And had same drop of fps also today after couple matches. (along with unstable sound)

After updating to 0.5.0.3 I've basically gotten some problems always after playing few matches.

I played a few matches today in windowed mode, kept an eye out on free and cached and such, also installed a dynamic cache service and such.

First game ran ok FPS wise... but carrier auto pilot completely failed it seemed... carrier ship drifting side ways and such... looks like a lag issue to me.

Also looks like game is falling behind with the rest/server.

I also wonder if it's an issue when too many players online.

Playing the game this way is no fun so I am thinking of quiting this game for a while until these bugs are fixed.

0.5.0.3 seems to have made things worse though.

Lot's of disconnects also happened.

It does seem to occur randomly and such... maybe it's an anti-bot feature lol... but a very bad one at that... bots will have no issues reconnecting ! ;)

For now I am guessing it's a multi-threaded issue, and too many data being pushed to graphics cards... then again doesn't really seem to be a gpu issue either...

Probably just multi threading bug.

Ok, I have an 8 core AMD 8530 or 8350, not sitting in front of it right now, the 4Ghz, one, a 960GTX, 16gb of ram and running the game from an SSD. Not had one drop in FPS yet. I have all the graphics at Max, except shadows. I think my FSAA is at 16x...will check later but it is at the highest as far as I know. I recall seeing and having problems a while back with WoT and drops in FPS until I maxed most of the graphic options, which seems counterproductive but it worked better at higher settings than it did at lower settings oddly enough.

Will check my settings and see what might be the key.

Oh yeah, I run the game in windowed mode because I have three screens and it just hasn't wanted to run full screen yet.

Ok, took a look, all my settings are maxed, FXAA max, Vertical Sync is off, triple buffering is off, Anisotropic at 16x, foliage quali at Medium.

I had some good matches in ranked battle, less ships, so less freezing I guess... So far played with my carriers only in ranked matches ! ;)
