People should at very least be able to see that you complimented them!

As much as I usually hate my team, I had a few n1 players in my recent games.

That was the Arkansas beta I shared AA with while we hunted and got that !"§$% rock-rat of a CV by going both ways around the island thanks to coordinaton.

That (french? if so something about and like: chouette! je fait tout monde merci  at toi, et cetera yeah my french is crap but you got the idea^^) CV guy who distracted and saved my cruiser-[edited]from the clutches of a determined BB by repeated attack waves when I asked for help

and so on.

I thank them in chat, but sometimes in the heat of battle you cant do that, while the game is still running.

I compliment them of course via that ingame thingy and  and since I usually run out of complaints way more often than compliments (and for good reasons!) I would very much like to at least see them that they got complimented.

If you want, make the origin of the compliments annonymus (and keep complaints completely hidden like they are now) but at least show them in some way to the recipient!

If WG wants to go out of their way in dilligance they can add the feature to share some of your xp, I would have done that with glee in that cases.

And half serious:

... and while your at it implement a feature to give up your own xp so sabotaging and not contributing "players" (can think of many other words here) leave the game with 0 xp and thus just a bill. I should be at the very least able to neutralize 1 or 2 of them per game and still get something towards the next ship, while not running a premium time ...

This has been suggested before, and I think it is great idea. Brings positivity, and makes playing more pleasant.

But then I have to waste a precious compliment on complimenting the complimenter, which in turn means that he/she will need to compliment me for complimenting his/her compliment! Oh, the horror, when will it stop?!

Nah, it is a good feature. If not by getting a message of said action, it would be nice to at least have some sort of personal overview in the stats, similar to the gold/credit/doubloon section.

Then I would hope such a thing is private, so that you can only see your own reputation, as I can otherwise see ways this could be abused a lot.

What if someone did horrible at the beginning for a while and then later became good. A poor reputation can follow them for a long time, just like bad WN8 and so on with XVM.

Ofcourse it could in a way also allow people to see who are framed for a lot unnessecary team damage/TK or bad conduct. But still, it is the whole issue on naming and shaming.

Can be good, but should stay private.

Positive reports could give you dolphins riding your bow wave, and negative reputation sharks circling, silly I know, but a few whales about would be nice too. :hiding:

Negative feedback should be hidden, and positive only notified to player, after game, or in the beginning of the next game. The only purpose of being to promote good/fair play.

As suggested, put in on the stats page. There are tons of more or less interesting stats there, but whether you are a nice, cooperative contributer to the team is deemed not?

someone on my team plays well or even when someone takes me down with skill, I think they deserve the nod and should know their play was noticed.

in battle you dont always have time to give someone a personal GJ or GG

I'd be for this

I said a long time ago I could live without XVM in wows if we had a way to see how his ratio would be of being complimented for playing well vs reported for playing poorly. I don't need raw player stats, I rather have people's opinion of a player visible ( even if that requires some system which removes the abuse possibilities ).

It will prevent a mod like XVM from being needed.

In DD it's hard to have time to write into chat and there's no post-match chat so would be nice to know that compliments are actually meaningfull instead of going who knows where/into devnull.

Except that all those stats are collected by neutral and unbribable software and not based to opinions of individuals.

So compliments would be sensible to show only privately.

You can already see that - right after the battle, when summary pops out on right side of screen, underneath there will be something like "Thank you for your role in supporting the community" message whenever somoeone compliments you. You can also check them out in notifications tab in right down corner.

Are you sure? I think they are rather for giving complaints and compliments yourselves ....

I do however see them quite often ...

Only times when I've seen those are when I have reported someone or given compliment.

What does giving a compliment actually do? Is there any reward for receiving compliments?

it adds line of text to your notifications tab

Is that really it?? Kind of pointless really, would be nice to recieve something? Even a small gesture like a random signal/money or xp

No... if YOU send compliment to teammate, YOU will get the line of text to your notifications tab. The person you sent compliment, never receives it, so yeah... it is 100% pointless

Compliments should be easily noticeable in the post match screen. Positive feedback is always appreciated. It shouldn't have any actual effect on the game, though. Because it can easily become a "scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" situation where people compliment each other just to get the rewards.

Supposedly WG either thinks about adding, or have added, a sort of karma system. Too much negativity and you get various negative results. A lot of compliments (so they outweigh the negatives a lot) and you might get some light benefits. The part about the benefits and penalties I'm pretty sure isn't in yet, but they might very well already track the overall values of each player. Who knows when/if they implement the reward system that some people get a huge stack of things because they have achieved a lot of compliments?

Oh well... Personally I would much rather prefer to just see it if I got complimented.

I think anonymous but you should have a tally of the number of compliments. I use it whenever appropriate so it would be good if there was a reward system.
