Hey,

Anyone else notice the Cleveland's turrets are weak and are prone to being penned and knocked out? O is this just me

You should see Atlanta turrets.

Once i got fired from two directions ONCE and lost ALL my turrets except one of the side-turrets.....And i have the main batterly mod...

Or perhaps i should stick the AA mod? since these turrets are also AA turrets?

And slow as F.

Rather than listing all it's flaws, It's easier to say that the only good thing about Atlanta is Rate of Fire and AA, everything else is just crap.

The damn thing is a machine gun! The only way to fight one is to get out of range, then return fire, whenever I see an Atlanta, I get a salvo off then run!

I've played most of my matches in an Atlanta.

It's an amazing ship. Sure it's weak and the firing arc is insane but it's so much fun to play and catches a lot of people off guard.

Your 46% winrate and 29k average damage with Atlanta is not amazing. It's crap. Because of posts like this, people get the wrong impression that Atlanta is actually a good ship. In average you do much better in your other ships. Atlanta is actually dragging your stats down.

Same with the Cleve. Still it it is fun to play these ships and rain fire on the enemy - even if they make no damage :bajan:

Agreed. Did 130 games in Atlanta myself. I had fun in some of them, granted, but purely from a performance- point of view, Atlanta is poor. Pisspoor.

You can bet on its fragility.

At best parts of it are lightly armored and outside those areas it probably doesn't have any real armor.

Yesterday detonated one with first salvo (from DD guns) which wasn't even centered but falling towards stern/rearmost turret... and actually making no direct contacting hit according to detailed report.

Apparently that blessed by RNGesus shell fell very tightly short detonating in water just outside magazine and punching through from probably unarmored below waterline side.

From my personal experience both the Cleveland and the New Mexico have weak turret armor and I get them knocked out sometimes (not as often as before though). I think it's a good thing for balance purposes. I actually don't know if they nerfed the Cleveland since the CBT, as I find it not as overpowered as it used to be and getting turrets blown contributes to that. I remember a while back there was this period where armor was so bugged that almost all games I had I got at least one turret blown off, and several games where I had all of them blown which was quite comical :teethhappy: I think the Clevelands turret survivability is balanced at the moment - if they were tougher that thing will be too powerful again.

When I give a flying rat's about my stats I'll take your advice under advisement, until then I play for fun and I have fun in that boat.

If people truly believe that just because someone else gets fun out of doing something, that they will. Then I also have fun playing on railway lines and sticking my tongue into electrical outlets. :)

imo they should balance ships my moving the up/down tiers, not weakening them =\

or they could have 2 or 3 max ships in a given tier. give people some variety

He's super wrong.

I'm sure he's a nice blunt person but we just look at fun in two different ways. He's trying to apply his way to me and that does't work simply because all he cares for are stats, where I enjoy playing a game with ships in it.

True. But they have said that the Cleveland will probably be moved to tier 7. But until then it's the only way they can balance it, and when they bump it up they will fix it's nerfs I guess

Well, if you would go back and actually read my post, you would realize that I did not even talk about how fun ship Atlanta is. I clearly stated how it is not a good performing ship, just to make sure that people don't get the wrong impression, throw their money at it, and regret it. I don't care about what kind of stats you have, I only care about how that ship performs, and stats are clear indication how it actually performs. You can not argue with numbers.

Tier 7 huh...............

Buff its armor by a bit and maybe up its ROF by 0.3 or so, otherwise i think it would get mauled

29k avg on a ship with 27.5k hp. So he does more dmg than he brings into the fight, which is anything but crap.

46% win rate doesn't mean anything in a game that's entirely dependant on what your "teammates" do without rewarding any form of team spirit.

Atlanta isn't crap at all, it's a gun boat with emphasis on the gun. It's not meant to sail up into the enemies face and torp them but it has the potential to do it if needed so bringing in torps as a factor on it is off topic.

It's best use imo is finishing off damaged cruisers or nuking the hell out of unfriendly DDs, it lacks prowess against BBs but can at least harass them a bit with mosquito bites.

In any case this thread was about the clevelands turrets, and yes they are a bit on the weak side of american "beer" but still stronger than the pensacolas (you have that to look forward to)

Hes super right.

Because no matter how much fun you have with it, on average as well as for the top players Atlanta performs more like a T4-ship. This means you dont win much with it, you dont do much damage with it and consequently you dont earn that much credits with it. For the cost of a premium T7 it is the crappiest of crappy deals.

Edit: Valerius: Atlanta is the worst performing T7 cruiser by far. It barely does more damage (cca 600) than a Mahan. A bloody Mahan! Also it wins much less than Mahan which is considered the worst ship in a class that is underpowered in general...

The only ship I have played that I deemed comparably buffworthy was the pre-4.1 Furutaka. It is so bad.

Thats more to do with people not knowing how to play it rather than it in general being a bad ship (I consider it average, not bad. Could do with a boost on the guns)

I see a lot of Atlanta captains rushing into the enemy and dieng in a blaze of glory which is just not the way to play it
