To WG: Is there anything being done about the essex/midway?

Just a yes or no or 'we're looking into it' would encourage me to keep playing. Because right now if I see a midway in the other team I feel so demotivated that I just want to press esc and leave the match. So, is there anything being done about that horribly OP vessel?

It was IJN CVs on mid tier which were nerfed. Midway and to a lesser degree  Essex contnue being the unholy beast they've allways being in the hands of a competent player.

It's not a CV vs BB debate, Midway and Essex can oneshot just about every ship ingame.

If I get a Midway and the Enemy team gets a Hakuryu I know I've just won the game by default.

Don't worry, Hakuryu will probably get buff vs BBs with the 5.1 patch

They havent fixed clickers in wot yet and it's been out for 5 years now. What makes you think they will ever fix skillships? It's EXACTLY the same story all over again.

 

Just do what I do and stay at tier 8 and below. All else is pointless as a Midway "player" (not sure if it's the correct term, since they don't actually play the game) can just delete your ship from the game with a click or two.

Everyone wanted mirror MM, so u see less cv, often enough not even CVs at all. I see so many BB in hightier, often enough only a very small number of cruiser. Whats the point to play american cruiser in hightiers without CV? the firechance isnt that great, the guns are not too bad but u need to get somewhat close first......then try to dodge montana/iowa.......

 

Too bad, that cruiser are meant to counter cv-attacks (of course not so much for IJn cruiser) In the moment u see only 1 midway its suddenly a huge threat, because without cruiser, which

 

 escort BBs the enemy cv can go for every of it as it pleases him.

 

The Hakuryu could theoretical do the same amount of hits with Torpedos, but its more diffcult since 1. they spread out on distance 2. the spread is already quite wide. 3. more difficult to manage 3 Torpedobomber than only managing 2. 4. The higher speed of torpedos means u need angle them to get maybe the chance for 4 hits on bigger targets (and only when they are moving with good speed)

 

 

Edit: OP seems to ve Zao, Yamato, Monatana, De Moines and seems to do fine with them. I dont understand

 

U are even grinding urself a Essex/midway (Dont tell me u only did it for the Lexington!)

Yep Arty in Wot totally OP, i mean they all ve 70%+winrate when playing arty:> arty in wot has different problems due to randomness of hitting/onehots

 

U played 0 battles in CV since open beta, maybe u ve played some in CBT - who knows. U seem to ve generally no expierence regarding what goes through the mind of CV captains.

 

Attackruns need to be planed, sometimes the easy target aint that easy as it seemed to be (unspotted cruiser close to target, enemy cv has fighter nearby) It will take some time  to make the next attack, after u made one.

Midways are literally immune to AA, We've had 3 Montanas and two CAs grouped up and although he lost a fair amount of planes he lost them AFTER he dropped a double torp spread.

Also DM's AA isn't that amazing.

Two clicks? At least that's one click more than BBs needs to delete CAs.

The only thing this shows is that there's no nerfs to anything not a BB, nor any buffs to BBs that will ever be enough to the BB mafia. They want to play a ship with no counters, with the highest and least skill dependent damage, both alpha and sustained, and the highest and least skill dependent survivability,.

Well, just by looking at the statistics, one can easilly see that Essex overperforms most of the tier 10 ships and Midway is almost off the charts.

Unpopular opinion from a CV player: High tier carriers are fine or even need some HP buff for the planes. Everyone has massive AA and seaplanes.

The problem lies on the relation skill-results that each class has. A CV unicum can achieve much more than a CA or DD unicum. BBs have gotten almost on the same level as CVs though, specially Yamato after all her buffs.

I had a tier 10 game in my NC today. Vs a Midway. My North Carolina is AA specced, but still has the stock hull.

I shot down ~35 planes. Yes, with a lowly North Carolina. I call [edited] on Midway being immune to AA.

I ctrl clicked on the squads and maneuvred to make him work to get me. He managed one proper drop on me, with 4 torps.

Surely you guys don't expect a CV to lose many planes if you give him the best approach angle and sail straight?

 

I own an Essex too and managed to sink a few Iowas without losing any planes, but in those cases they sailed straight and I bet they didn't ctrl click on the squad. Who knows if they were AA specced. Probably not.

I also had a few North Carolinas cause me problems and shoot down a lot of my planes. It can be done, just don't be a potato.

 

In conclusion, it's a l2p and upgrade/captain skills issue. Midway is powerful, but its targets are not helpless.
