It is probably Saipan which will be first premium CV in the game.  Saipan was in USN's tech tree tier 6 CV before Independence jumped to it's place and Bogue came to tier 5.

Based on some dev answers in a Q&A, it will indeed be the Saipan. But they don't feel good about it just yet.

I hope they will never release tier VI+ premium CV. Imagine the average Tirpitz player driving a  CV.... disgusting imagination. But definitely happy times for regular CV players.

Ill buy it IF WG sorts out the problem with the aimbot and their horrible PR Team.

Seems to be a pretty interesting prospect to play a premium CV, at least for me.

They once said they will make tier 8 USS Enterprise (CV-6). It will be either premim or reward ship for something. Tier 8 in hands of noobs can be bad, but I would really like tier VIII premium CV. But that's of course in the far far future in another galaxy :D

If USS Enterprise will ever come as premium CV then I'm going to buy it. And I think I would have fun after many USN carrier and IJN carrier battles :D

That's exactly their stated reason for not having premium CVs yet. They probably saw the Tirpitz and Atago results and said "this is going to be an even greater mess".

Having Enterprise as a gift premium might work out, though I can see a lot of rage on NA about it. And honestly, I can see a lot here too. Enterprise is just 'that ship' when it comes to carriers. And that's also why it is such a risky ship to add to the game for money alone.

Maybe as a regular premium that requires something more than just money? That could make Enterprise an option for experienced CV players, and others who wouldn't be total noobs in the class. In fact I'm slightly surprised there aren't any 'achievement' ships you get access to (either freely or opened up for purchase) by doing something ingame.

Let's say Enterprise as a reward ship for completion of special quests with CV should be OK, but hightier premium CV will bring only enormously hostile attitude towards the inexperienced players using them.

And just who are you to claim that only good players have the right to buy a Tier VIII CV ? If they bring it out for everyone the better then perhaps some people get to play CVs without having to grind for the sake of grinding.

I think it would be great having a t8 CV. Afterall every other player says its a no skill class so shouldnt be a problem

Where did I say noob = bad player? Noob is someone who has absolutely no idea how to play this ship and will randomly click to see what will happen if he does action "X" or "Y" - like me when I first played CV in the 2nd Beta Weekend. There are enough bad players in tier 9-10 CVs just because they played 500+ battles with CV, but they are still doing something because they know how CVs work and they've been in many situations. Good enemy in CV will outplay them giving his team big advantage (high tiers) but you see that daily and it's OK. The problem are players who will have 0 CV battles and buy it right away - that's bad. Requirement to unlock tier 8 CV in order to buy premium one is too much, but something like easy personal missions like WoT can be great. Complete some basic tasks in tier 4-5 CV to know the basics of CV gameplay and unlock the option to buy premium CV. In such case be my guest to buy it - there are enough "bad" CVs you see daily so there will be no difference and I never suggested only "good" ones should be able to get it. Same can be made for any tier 8 premium.

Obviously getting to Lexington or Shokaku would be an over the top requirement. Not only would it be a useless requirement from a gameplay perspective, but it would also be a bad requirement from an economic perspective. Very few players ever unlock these ships.

But yes, doing some thing in the low tier carriers, like having played 5 games, had at least one game with 4 or more torpedo hits and at least one game with 6 or more planes shot down (in the carriers of course). These requirements are not hard at all, but at the same time they do take a little focus to get. Basic mechanics should be known by the time you jump into T8, from there on in it is your own decision if it is worth it or not.

If they are afraid of introducing higher tier carriers in the game as premium vessels why not lower the bar and introduce a low-tier premium carrier first? I am thinking about the HMS Hermes for example, or the HMS Argus.

Both of these ships might consitute a T3-T4 premium carrier I suppose, and will probably be well-received by admirers of the Royal Navy. It would also be an opportunity for players to give carriers a try without having to unlock them or invest in a high-tier vessel.

Cheers, M

YES to low tier premium CVs. T3 wont probably be cos if I am correct regular CVs start on T4.

And what about not giving the mission before buy but after buy - "You have just bought wonderful seper dee duper hi-res HD hi-fi premium CV ™ since you havent perform on this class yet let us guide you through several training missions." - I think this can work

In my opinion most carrier players at tier 6 are still rather bad, so I don't see how a low-tier premium carrier can ruin the balance. There isn't much of it there right now.

Theres  been talk about a premium Cv coming soon tho not sure if its going to be this month tho i hope so hehe i wonder what could be uss or jap ?

It was mentioned here (thread) (there is no link to the original RU server article though) and as others have said it would be tier 6 carrier USS Saipan but "they just don't want many of the noobs to buy it as it will be bad for the gameplay (to have bad CV in the team as that's not small disadvantage".

That's also where they admit "account unification (gold, free exp) won't come in 2015" because... WG obviously did/do not say it would be available in WoWS; "World of Warships is part of the Wargaming.net Universe and share the benefits of the single Wargaming.net ID and Unified Premium Account Service. One account allows you to share your wealth across all three games and rule the land, air and sea."

I'd kind of like to see the USS Wolverine as a Premium CV  :D  Paddle wheels ftw!

Unrealistic?  sure.  But no worse than using 1920-30s biplanes on the USS Bogue that were all retired irl before the ship was even DESIGNED never mind built.

special ability, while slow it's paddle wheels mean it can practically turn on the spot!  :D

Tier VIII premium CV just sold in the shop would probably destroy MM on tier VIII and made all games on those tiers dice roll on "does you CV have any experience or not" for at least two weeks. The only way I can see tier VIII premium CV not killing a game is to release it with other premium which would cannibalize potential sales, but then again this is not very sound business decision.

Tier VI would be probably less of a death kiss, but even those require at least some game knowledge and know how.

Oh well, I just want premium [edited] moneymaker to have fun on VI-VIII tiers. Something unique and quirky. And those are only like 2 weeks of destroyed game so who cares. There are plenty of bad CVs already, even on higher tiers.

I would love to see USS Wasp on tier VI - VII, maybe with good ofensive setup (1/1/2 or 1/2/1) for example.

Adding new shiny premium will always bring some disbalance to the game. Atago and Tirpitz were perfect examples - but right now you can encounter average or good players in those ships much more often. In my opinion - bring it on! The more ships the better!
