I joined the OBT and has 1300 games and 3x tier 7 ships, but this game is starting to feel monotonous.

Started looking at the premium ships for some fun, and the recent Warspite sale is what finally pushed me into making this post.

If premium ships cost €10, or if progression past tier VII would be faster, it would be a different matter. This is my first WG game and came from League of Legends, attracted by warships and the same "free to play" accessibility of Riot's LoL.

But WoWs dont have the same "free to play" accessability, where you can buy lots of different stuff for a small or even modest amount of money. And grinding takes too frigging long aswell.

I can't imagine who would pay 20€+ for a ship. There are entire games on steam that cost less!

What is wargaming doing to maintain their playerbase and continue to make their game attractive?

Am I running a different budget than normal WG costumers?

Most of the friends i recommended WoWs have already quit again due to a bad UI, boredom and extorsionist prices.

If WG dont act soon-ish, I will be out of here too, and back to LoL and other reasonable, non-extorsionist game companies. Said as much in a recent survey they sent out too.

I bought a bunch of doubloons before I noticed this milking pattern of WoWs "offer" and now I'm starting to regret that. Since then, my wallet has stayed and will remain shut to WG.

ps: pardon spelling and grammar mistakes. English is not my native language :)

even though the game is officially released, i personally see it in a Beta phase.

Problem of getting tired of this game, is lack of content and alternatives, hopefully to come a little faster now ;-)

The learning curve is too short overall. Each game is more or less the same.

I've personally found the learning curve to be quite decent with a "cliff" tier around tier 6-7 where teamwork starts to become very important.

My problem is rather that once you hit this tier, it will take an obscene amount of games to progress (even with premium, i estimate around 300-500/tier) to earn the required credits and Xp to try anything new.

this is a good game to alternate with another game it's not WoT but it's fun to play

if you only play WoWs with current content you will get tired soon

How many matches do I need under the hood, before my voting would get called legit?

I don't mind that because I'm in the game for the long haul. A few games a day. New content is coming this very month. Who knows what the future after that will bring.

Funny thing is I don't seem to get bored at all. Every game is different and I have nine ships now in port I enjoy playing. The grind isn't what I am in the game for - although just as I am tiring of a ship a new one gets unlocked. So it works well.

I'm just as much enthused to play as I was in April. Probably because I've never played online MMOs before and playing with and against real people, in ships, is just fun for me. Plus I have friends to division with.

Might give WoT a go if I get tired of ships at all. But not planes :D

Shortly summarized;

-World of tanks had the perfect learning curve and was advanced enough to be massively successful.

-World of warplanes was too difficult for the masses.

-World of warships is too simple.

So the Goldilocks-zone is world of tanks...

To save world of warships i think we need a massive push in making the game more advanced. Clan wars, company battles and this sort of content should have been here at release as a bare minimum.

I'd say maybe 1000 games? And maybe having cracked the tier 7 meta shift cliff. :)

I planned to keep playing it for the long run too, but around tier 7 the grind just gets very monotonous.

Warships are awesome, so I guess i will take a break from November and maybe return ½ a year later.

Also it's great you enjoy a MMO and playing with friends. Its what I love about them too. :)

Grind new ship which is slightly different from the last one, pay to transfer captain, play more games on the same handful of maps with the same bad joke of a matchmaker...

Yeah, the repetition and lack of depth do get to be a problem.  I'd decided to take a bit of break from WOWS but I think it'd have to change drastically to tempt me back now, it seems I've been spoilt by going back to a normal (pay up front) game with a shedload of content.

I had the same thoughts, but I will be back when clan wars are finally introduced... Unless it takes so long that I have forgot entirely how to play with ships ;)

250 hours is good, but it could have rivaled world of tanks which managed to keep lots of players engaged for years and years...

I only got 591 matches. But I got the Pensacola.

But for myself about the game: I havent got tired of it yet. But I would still like to see more content (like high waves sea storm)

I stopped grinding when I reached Pensacola, because I have gotten bored of grinding. Also I dont have any premium account or premium ships, so getting credits and stuff takes a little bit extra time. Also with my studies and all IRL stuff, I can't play so much anymore. Which makes the grinding even further disliked for me.

If the game continues in the same pattern for the next two months, then I might get bored.

So I will vote "no" for now. And come back and rejudge my vote within the next two monts.

WoWs is a league apart from most games and because of its content has a more specific audience. I am only just knocking on 1000 battles in PvP but add that to my testing battles both in PvE, the ST, other servers and of course all battles previous to Open Beta I have done close to 5000 battles more like. Am I bored with it? No I am not, as soon as I get a little deflated I walk away for a breath of air and come back when my mood dictates. The problem is a lot of newcomers were expecting much more content and that is its biggest failing at the moment.

I grinded my way to tier 8 but now I just chill and play when I feel like it or I have friends to division up with. But I haven't got bored with WoWs, I'm just not playing it as much as I did earlier.

Sounds like burn out, just take a break! I got annoyed as well but took 3 - 4 week break and now maybe start to semi play again. By the time I might get bored with my current cruisers, there will be shiny new german ones so think I'm good for at least a bit.

Oh and haven't bought anything from store, played 1500 ish games so far. About 50/50 destroyers and cruisers, don't like battleships and carriers so haven't played a single game in one of those.

Not bored at all! Liking it since Alpha. Got the Ranger and Pensacola then.

Now I got the Cleveland elited, Hosho elited (and sold today), Wyoming elited and sold, Mitsuki, Wickes elited and sold, Kuma elited and sold, Myogi elited and sold, and grinding the Independence.

Having massive fun with credit grinder Murmansk, some with Sims, Arkansas Beta, Gremyashchy an stil got the St. Louis in port and some other Premiums and gifts.

Awaiting the RN though and Royal Netherlands Navy.

Way less then 1300 games and allready bored, i log in, i play 4 gattles, loose 3, log off and do other things. this game has no gold line. 80% is RNG and luck. I really enjoyd CBT and OBT, but since it is so called final i lost my fun factor.

Yes yes! Agree! Clan wars is coming I hear so at least WG acknowledge they need to add more than just more ships. At release? Maybe not. Most new players will be happy sailing what's there for a few months. "Release" is a technicality. This game is still a work in progress - and that's good because I want to see constant addition of content.

I don't think wows is too easy though. If by simple you mean incomplete/lacking then I agree

Having 1000+ games in CBT and now 1000 from the OBT, I can say that I'm not bored from the game but from others things that make me play less the last week, those things are:

  • MM (exept CV's) is way too bad, it should be a limit in each type of ships spcecially with the BB
  • Lack of teamplay
  • Playing moslty cruisers, I find Battleships a bit overpowered, since they are sitting in the back and they enter in snipping mode. Since the nerf of cv's, BB are the ruler in each game, also the buff that they recieved concerning the accuracy make me changing my gamestyle and I have now to wait a lot before entering in combat.
  • DD are underpowered, I really like them in CBT
  • New players bying premium ships (mostly T7 and T8) should not been able to join pvp match not before reaching commander grade 5-6

Whether you get tired of something is completely down to the fact you arent taking any healthy breaks from the game. If you are getting bored you are playing too much in my opinion.

Yes. I've played 400 or so games since OBT and I consider this a lot. I've played games to death before. Now I have cities (as well as a life :D) to keep me from overplaying ships. I've not played at all today :(
