Shhh, it's easier to claim that Halloween is non-existing in EU than implementing an event. That the 'Muricans have made it a shopping spree is another matter.

I think I'm getting more and more salty.

I think the most horrific thing is seeing pumpkins for sale at Halloween in Scotland, neeps are far more edible.

Conway did say there would be a Halloween event however, just later on in the month which makes sense.

I live in Norway, so Halloween is an adapted thing from USofA. SO that doesn't bother me. What does bother me is that apparently nothing is happening on this server cluster, except a small rise in WG EU community activity due to some new employees. And that is all well and good, but it is moving ahead slowly.

And the Halloween-event is here. And contrary to what could be expected, it is fairly comparable to the NA-event in terms of idea... Only that the EU-event only goes for 2h/day, and the NA-event did go for 5h/day. There is no word about the amount of players in the special ships, but it's fair to say the chances of getting in such a match will be way slimmer than on the NA-server (larger population, narrower timeframe, less staff to play the special ships... NA even had community contributers sailing them).
Also the premium bundle for the Fuijin is here, at €29.99. The NA also had that ship, for 38$ (boils down to 34.14€), with these differences:

EU: Ship + slot, 2500 doubloons, 20 Zulu, 20 ESC & 20 IBT flags.

NA: Ship + slot, 3 days of premium (equals 750 doubloons), 75 Zulu, 75 ESC & 75 IBT flags.

Still: it's a package, and it's still very (too?) expensive for what it is. And the EU again gets a package with useless doubloons, to inflate the price.

But then again, there's this... a creative contest for Halloween, and yes, it's (again) restricted for NA players only.

EDIT: something comparable across the entire EU is also happening

I'm starting to wonder if we'll see some specials (in the true meaning of that word, so not a lazy "x2") for the real events that are coming up:

1/11: Battle of Coronel* (German cruisers under Admiral von Spee defeat a British cruiser force off the coast of Chile; German victory)

9/11: Battle of Cocos* (HMAS Sydney intercepts and forces the beaching of SMS Emden; Australian victory)

11/11: Armistice Day (fairly obvious, isn't it) + Taranto raid (in which Swordfish torpedo bombers annihilated the Italian fleet at their harbour)

12/11: Guadalcanal*: 4 days of heavy fighting

17/11: The second battle of Heligoland Bight* (German & British cruisers engage eachother for the 2nd time at Heligoland Bight in the North Sea)

26/11: Battle of Cape St. George*  (American destroyers intercept the "Tokyo Express" and sink 3 Japanese destroyers.)
(* had ingame ships partaking in the battle)

Especially the Guadalcanal-campaign is worth mentioning, since it's one of the major naval battles that ever occurred.

OP is it just me or is the sort of.. layout/usage of the wow website template vastly different on NA vs EU?

like EU: https://eu.wargaming.net/shop/wows/?utm_source=global-nav&utm_medium=link&utm_content=premium-shop&utm_campaign=wows-portal

and NA: https://na.wargaming.net/shop/wows/main/

I read trough this thread at least once and updated when there were something worth mentioning as you edit the title, but I can't remember seeing something about this. Worth mentioning too there are two versions of the Fujin pack on NA.

Well, given that the last week-end did correspond to the Battle of Leyte Gulf - arguably one the largest naval battle ever (check the Wikipedia entry, great read!!!) - and that we did receive a x2 "Special" from WG EU for that, I think you should give up any undue hope you may have in reserve.

Still, given the fame of Guadalcanal Campaign in US there is a remote chance that WG NA will setup something, and then WG EU may setup a copy-pasted scaled-down version of it with an doubloons-inflated bundle of some sort... :sceptic:

Yes, the NA layout/frontend is vastly different, and if I remember rightly, the last time this happened the  EU eventually caught up.

Perhaps it is something to do with the way the NA teams seem to concentrate on the game-customer interactions and the EU team just do... something, I guess, but not sure what.

I think the NA team have given up trying to cooperate with the EU team on events/competitions. However, we will be okay as the EU team can at least copy/paste events... Oh wait... We're fubar...

Downside is that the NA now have made their contests exclusive for NA players (it's a part of the mutual understanding between EU and NA in terms of harmonisation of contests: no transfer of players allowed), which means that because WG can't cope with the demands and keep up with the pace at which the NA churns out prizes and specials, the EU playerbase gets shafted again.

And then there's this: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/35013-wg-please-stop-treating-us-like-brainless-cashcows/

a thread that has been skillfully moderated away, into the dusty cellar of the forums. Keep spreading these topics, make it go viral, on these forums and outside of it.

Viral? Are you serious? In wich forums are you exactly posting this stuff ?

The fact is, and here i must add that i agree with your points regarding the thread content all the way, that WG won't move an inch, the moderation, testing and the PR / Marketing teams in what concerns the EU location will remain to be poorly managed and the meagre bits that are given to us will remain just that, some bits to appease the peasants and keep things going.

This is by far one of the worst comunity teams i have ever seen and what amazes me is the fact that some of these same players that simply accept this crap in here are people that in a certain spaceship game just raised pure hell and got their demands and issues heard.

Lets face the facts, you have good intentions, i would like to see a premium CV personally or some unique ship with unique mechanics but WG are just not interested in making the players happy and attracting more people into this game, it was clear from CBT and from its transition into full release that there was no such interest, at least what concerns the EU comunity.

Even the SEA server are getting two bundles for Nickolai. Although neither are bare ships, one is a lot nearer to just a ship and slot than the EU bundle, but it also has premium time and flags rather than doubloons and flags.

Oh no, I am talking about a battleship - expect this thread to be moved...

Seems the RU server has it now, too.

Just leaves EU and SEA - last as usual, despite being second biggest and smallest servers, respectively.

I was hoping I could lay this topic to rest, but after today's bombshell, it turns out I can't (there was also this, earlier on). On a not related note, there's also the "Black Friday-saga".

So me now being a Reddit-user, I went there to sniff around a bit, and behold, what did I see?
alsorobots_zpskqapsnb8.jpg

Does that mean either:

  • A: The person managing the EU contests (of whom I've understand is not a participant on the forums, and is higher in "WG-rank" than Ectar, Brynd,...) is a condensed dimwit who just refuses to cooperate and acknowledge the unfair treatment of the EU?
  • B: The EU CM's are too chicken/can't be bothered to ask for decent specials & giveways at their superiors (sure would explain their sub-average forum participation)?
  • C: The "long awaited" semi-harmonisation of contests, specials & giveaways between the servers is a total joke, and was never there in the first place?
  • D: something totally else.

You forgot option E) The NA appartment has gone rogue and tries to bankrupt WG through freebies.

But this one is quite insane. I know we can't have something like this in EU due to several borders involved, but the effort of sending a pine cone on a chain to the NA headquarters is so little they could basically just give that package away for free.

1. Find a pine cone and tie a string on the top. If you have silver/gold spraypaint, apply that as well

2. Put in envelope and send to WG NA

3. Wait

4. Enjoy your free ship.

So that is more annoying than having to pay 20e for something you can get for 'free'?

Hey it's America. Money falls down from the sky. Well, not really maybe, but it feels that way for people living in southeastern Europe :D
