WG looks at commercial interests first, and at historical accuracy only later.

Why do you think that in World of Tanks there are Japanese never-were tanks and there are going to be Swedish tanks that never fired a shot in anger, while Italian tanks that fought for years have been held up for years? Because Japan and Sweden have large player bases, while Italy's is small.

Same logic.

WoWS is not historically accurate. It is an ARCADE game. With the next patch the Tirpitz will have a 109G on her catapult. Not even Donitz would have imagined it in his best dreams.

You can't see Royal Navy Ships because Wargaming hasn't implemented them yet. They will come and i'm confident they will rule the waves then.

And England built a lots of ships in WWI and WWII

Well, they stopped making decent ships after they built the Nelsons and the Washington and London naval treaties were put in force. So yeah, Britannia didn't really rule the waves during WWII, except through the sheer number of aging WWI era warships they still had floating about.

Not that the Royal Navy is the largest in the game period with the links to more than a dozen countries or anything.

Well after Napoleon conquered the British Island back in 1805 using the tunnel his engineers digged with prussian-russischan support, it was all over for the Royal Navy. :izmena:

Most ships where scattered or sunked and the brits where forbidden from having a navy larger then 10 ships. So the rise of the Russian and Prussian navy began as all the dockworkers and constructors went to mainland Europe looking for jobs. :amazed:

Take a history book or watch a documentation about that.

I finde most of the reactions curious at best. The OP is clearly meant as sarcasm.

Yes, it was too harsh.

I guess I was just overreacting to yet another "We want RN!" topic. And I misused the word decent, I didn't mean they didn't make good ships, they did, it's just that during WWII compared to Japan and the US the British fleet really seems either obsolete or underwhelming. They had many ships throughout the war, and that was their main strength, but their top notch never really was on par with Japanese or American top notch. And yes, I know there is a reason for that, to maintain the empire and contain Germany they didn't need a fleet to match the IJN or USN.

But still, those two fleets were their main competition (of sorts) in the field of naval power, and both before and during WWII both of these fleets eclipsed the Royal Navy in everything but numbers (and I admit i don't know for certain, but the Americans seem to have beaten them handily in numbers by the end of the war as well).

And to make it clear, I very much want the RN to come to the game, and I think they should have prioritised it before the Russians at least, but I don't have the numbers Wargaming has, so I can't be sure it would have been the right call.

Well that was a nice 5 mins on the international stage for you guys, we however went on to beat you in the end, start a maritime empire that covered most of the globe and achieve and maintain naval dominance for 150 years. And you guys? Well I guess everybody loves a visit to the red light district.

1) Britannia Did rule the waves, technology and was at the forefront with Naval innovation for quite sometime. In Fact the Royal Navy's innovation lead to its downfall due to leveling the playing field with HMS Warrior; then later still with HMS Dreadnaught

2) The Royal Navy is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, which is why you don't see 15th Century English Ships.

3) WoWs will never be historically accurate, and has never pretended to be so.

4) Historically, the Royal Navy went on the win the Atlantic Theater, the Mediterranean Theater and later the Pacific Theater during WW2.

I don't see how it lead to its own downfall; despite the periodical "scares" (which were more real in the press' anguished articles than in the actual truth of naval forces of the Royal Nayv and its likely opponents), the Royal Navy managed to hold on to the capability of outbuild any potential enemy, even after having to switch to new models of warships.

Moreover, it took time to build a sizable number of ironclad warships in the first case and of dreadnought battleships in the second; in the meantime, while the other powers were forced themselves to start from scratch, the naval security of the United Kingdom wasn't exactly shattered, as the older ships were not scrapped en masse. And on the long period, the British shipbuilding industry led to the Royal Navy always mantaining an edge in terms of capital ships.

New research from eminent historian A.J.Fluffnut now shows that the RN was not limited to 10 ships, but they were allowed to have as many ships as they liked as long as they paid for them with "doubloons" (an ancestor of the Euro, roughly equivalent to 1 ton of 24carat gold and only available in St. Petersburg). Other countries were able to buy ships with readily available local currencies, so they were able to amass larger numbers of more varied ships.
