Why is there no ribbon for non-damaging module penetrations?

That's just one kind of non-damaging penetration, in addition to hitting a part of the ship with zero HP, for instance. They happen so often that a ribbon every time would crowd the interface.

However, we get that these penetrations can frustrate players. We’ll do our best to solve this problem.

Will the matchmaking system ever take skill level into account, on top of ship class and tier?

We’ll probably try this for Clan vs. Clan battles. It’s not a good idea for the Random matchmaker, since it would result in everyone’s win-rate evening out to around 50%.

If you want a more skill-based matchup, keep an eye out for the next season of Ranked Battles.

Could you please make matchmaking ±1 tier? It's very painful to pit Independence against Tirpitz, or Ognevoi against Khabarovsk.

We aren’t planning on it. We get that it's hard to play against a ship of higher tier of the same class but, between classes, the difference is much softer. Destroyers are still dangerous for any battleship, cruisers dangerous for any destroyer, battleships for any cruiser, etc.

Why is there a new Premium carrier vessel coming (Kaga) when carrier gameplay is still being fixed?

We did some carrier improvements and fixed some annoying problems. Meanwhile, the community has long requested a Japanese carrier. There’s nothing in the current gameplay environment prevent effective play with Kaga. She’ll also be fine with any future changes.

The consumable for spotting aircraft seems kinda unbalanced in terms of flight time and cooldown. Why does it have such a short flight time in relation to catapult fighters, and why such a long reload?

The flight time of a catapult fighter is 90 seconds for battleships and 360 for carriers. Spotting aircraft have 100 seconds on all ships except Perth.

Spotters are good for finishing off enemies just out of normal range, or getting enemies behind islands, or spotting torpedoes, or more precise shooting at ships hiding in smoke. The current flight time is more than enough for these tasks and we don’t want the game to revolve around this consumable with long-range shooting.

Are there any plans to add trainable crew to a ship, such as a Chief Engineer or Tactical Officer?

Not right now. A one-unit crew (the Commander) is easy to manage. Plus, Commander Skills represent the abilities of the entire crew on top of the Commander’s individual abilities.

Can we please have those Iowa/Montana/Missouri citadel corrections that were promised for 0.6.3?

This correction requires more than one or two updates. It requires lots of testing because changing the ship layout is different than changing a couple of stats like concealment or rate-of-fire. At this point, that correction is ready for release in 0.6.6.

Any chance of getting a slight improvement to Gneisenau's main gun dispersion? With only 6 guns, it gets very annoying when a single turret shoots its shells at opposite ends of a broadside target.

Gneisenau has great AA, good secondaries, torpedoes and a well-protected citadel. With such set of merits, having less-than-ideal guns is justified. Gneisenau is well-balanced compared to Nagato and Colorado, which have powerful main guns.

Why can carriers only fly four signal flags when every other class can fly eight?

The main reasons were problems with signal placement on some carriers and some balance concerns. We’re thinking about changing this, but have no specific plans yet.

The matchmaker’s main goal is to produce good matches as fast as possible. The number of players within different tiers is determined by when they click the “Battle!” button.

Not necessarily. Consumables are only one of the possible options we can use to give a new line a unique feel.

Not RU but Trumpland: Bismarck campaign starts at 18th of May on the NA server, lasts 24 days and has slightly different conditions from the PTS. These 'new' conditions are only an increased number of stars per stage to unlock the following stage. Other than that the rewards (one container with two collectibles + special signal) remain the same. If one player does the campaign missions dedicated esp. for the hood, the container collects only one collectible but more special camos/signals)

WoWS: 0.6.6 Supertest Patchnotes

Thanks to everyone who made this leak possible. You know who you are! (Also thanks to syraku for translating)

PVE Mode:
– A new mode has been added.
– In this mode, seven players cooperate against AI enemies in various scenarios (most likely historical)

New features:
– Three new maps
– Four new scenarios/modes (!!?)
– New ships and structures added (most likely just aesthetical things on maps)
– A new destructible onshore facility has been added (Return of Bastion?)
– A new kind of division, “Extended fleet” has been added. Can accommodate up to 7 players.
– Voice chat function for the “Extended fleet” has also been added.
– Some interface improvements
– Added results at end of the season.
– New scenarios/modes for PVE added.
– Added a new “repair area” – you can recover ship health in this area. (more camping, yay)
– Chat BOT message display function added (patchnotes called it BOT too, not sure what it really means)
– To start a scenario battle, a target ship needs to receive a “command” that is granted every 30 minutes, and by receiving this “command, you will get ingame currency.
– Haifuri collaboration : New ships added.
– HSF Harekaze
– HSF Graf Spee

– New premium ships added. Permanent camouflages for these ships have also been added:
– Tier VI Russian cruiser Admiral Makarov
– Tier VI British destroyer Gallant
– Tier VIII American aircraft carrier Enterprise

 

Game logic improvements:
– When designating the target for AA, if Line of Sight to the aircraft is broken (i.e. the aircraft is temporarily out of detection range) and is then re-established, the focus command does not need to be redesignated again (i.e. the same case with secondary batter currently where you will still maintain “lock-on” on a ship that temporarily disappears)
– If a ship is destroyed when it is launching torpedoes, all torpedoes will now launch. (previous situation only dropped torpedoes just before you sunk, leading to 1-2 torps dropped out of the usual 3-5 salvoes.)
– Torpedo tubes included in “Switch camera automatically to each main gun” function. (Your camera will automatically switch to torpedo tubes in close-up if you switch to them from guns, previous situation only allows you to switch between guns.)

Sound improvements:
– Introduction of dynamic BGM (background music) consisting of two layers: As the distance closes between you and an enemy ship, more intense music will play. As you fight, it switches to normal battle BGM. This will only play if ‘Battle BGM’ is enabled.
– Weather during battle and ambient environmental sounds have been improved.
– Ship sounds have been improved.
– A new sound effect for all battleships has been added.
– Added and improved sound in Port.
– Volume slider for the main battery has been tweaked – you can no longer turn it off completely, only adjust the volume.
– Italian voices added.
– Added new BGM: Main theme, ‘Discovered’ (Detected) BGM comprised of several layers (the soundtrack has several component songs that can be layered over each other to produce different effects), pre-battle and battle start BGM, port BGM, dynamic BGM that changes according to battle conditions.
– ‘Ultra’ sound setting now available in Settings.
– New presets will be adjusted in more detail in the future.

Details of ‘Ultra’ setting:
– New gun sounds
– Post effect when landing (I really don’t quite get what they mean by ‘landing’)
– Added delay to sound effects such as explosions and landing sounds over long distances. This delay is directly related to the distance.
– Increased the distance where sounds can be heard (i.e. more sounds)
– Increased sound quality.
– Updated sound engine to WWise(2016.2.1 build 5995), sound files are now in .wem format.
– To create any sound mods for this version, modders will have to use this new WWise build.
– You can now apply sound mods of .mp3 format to voice messages (in-battle voiceovers, I think). The basic file structure and directories will remain similar, details to come on the forums.
– Steven Seagal’s voice is now available in other modes.
– When going into battle with Steven Seagal, the battle voiceover will automatically change to his voice.
– Steven Seagal’s voice will be available for players who have the ‘Steven Seagal’ captain.
– Steven Seagal’s voice can be selected in Settings.

HSF Graf Spee at 5100 doubloons


 

HSF Harekaze price is set at 8900 doubloons

-Harekaze is based on a stock Kagero, with identical stats to it, but has the bonus of being able to choose from the 12.7cm 3rd Year Type, the 10cm Type 98 from Akizuki or the long US 5 inch/54s
-The long 5 inch guns have heavier AP shells that can rival with Soviet DDs in terms of trajectory and higher penetration than 15cm AP on German DDs
-Special Captain for HSF Harekaze will be Misaki Akeno

World of Warships 0.6.6 Supertest: More PvE Details & USA BB Citadel Changes

Hello everyone,

 

More World of Warships 0.6.6 Supertest information about PvE Missions and a few other details. Big thanks to our friends from SEA-Group for sending this to me so I can share it with you guys.

 


Please note this is Supertest information subject to change before the final version is released.

 


 American Battleship Changes

 

Iowa & Missouri

 

  • Citadel volume reduced by 27.5%. Volume excluded is now considered casemate. Due to the casemate volume change, bow, stern and superstructure had their hit points reduced by 18%.

Montana

 

  • Similar changes to Iowa and Missouri. Citadel volume reduced by 28%. Bow, stern and superstructure hit points reduced by 24.5%.

PvE Missions

 

  • PvE Missions will have a limitation of one carrier per team, but other classes will also have limitations. Cruisers are now limited to four, Battleships and Destroyers limited to three per team.

Sound Quality

 

  • Players will be asked if they want to download the new sound quality before the game updates. A new logo will be displayed if you choose to download the new improved sounds.

Producer answered on many basic questions like:

How they balance ships..
How they make differences between nations etc...

He did mention that they are just WATCHING 0.6.3 CV changes and will need more time to gather informations ( Sub_Octavian typical answer :D)

Another intresting information would be, I will quote: "By end of year we might see Taiwanese premium ship starting with the letter C"

Also producer did repeat that they take in consideration historical ship infomations but they balance it, to make ship intresting to play. ( *points at Hood :D *)

Recap by getfun from a recent meeting with the developers in Samara:

1. Version 0.6.5 got balance by nations reworked. Have you noticed?

2. Carrier controls will be reworked in the future. Players suggested a unified attack mode instead of an automatic or a manual drop, but one that leave a role for player’s skill.

3. Manual control of the secondaries will stay as is.

4. Kiev and Tashkent are correctly tiered.

5. The mini-map will get the radius of the radar and that of the AA aura.

6. Personal offers will include elements of a tutorial. A first version of this is already in game and available to some beginners.

7. The medium term (next few patches) we see some PvE missions for clans.

8. A tournament functionality is coming in winter, possible with an Attack and Defence type of scenarios.

9. Version 0.6.6 may see a buff of Hydroacoustic Search for Lo Yang, Yugumo may get Shimakaze’s torpedoes, Nürnberg may get 360 degree rotation of the rear turret, and all German cruisers get a buff on penetration with HE.

10. No changes are planned for Grozovoi, her performance is being watched.

11. On average, twice as many battles where played during the Clash of the Elements event than before.

12. Official training room and replay functionalities are not immediately forthcoming. The people are busy developing other things.

13. In the summer will see changes to Quick Commands in chat.

14. The split of the US cruiser tree will definitely not occur this year.

15. The Russian/Soviet battleships are definitely not coming this year.

16. Smoke, shot and splinter/parts tearing off visual effects are being reworked.

17. Many players have purchased the top Hood bundle. Perhaps in the future, all bundles containing the same ship will be sold simultaneously.

18. The AA rockets of Hood are not the new type of weapon announced last year. This new type of weapon in being tested on the super test.

19. The next rank season will probably be on tier 6.

Not a major issue, but Sub_Octavian just posted on reddit to rebut some stuff currently on the 0.6.6 PTS.

Q&A with Sub_Octavian on the Asian forums. Here's a short rundown on the most important answers.

 

  • Not currently planning to add more port filters
  • WG experimenting with new strike armament and load-out rebalancing for carriers. May be introduced on Enterprise and other ships. No MM changes for carriers currently planned.
  • Clan membership limit will be expanded, but no ETA currently available.
  • Training room functionality is not currently being worked on, although improvements are desirable.
  • No nerfs to Saipan aircraft are currently under consideration.
  • A number of high tier destroyers might be getting deck armor buffed to 19 mm/16 mm in 0.6.6, allowing them to bounce 203mm shells.
  • WG may consider removing torpedo splash damage in the future.
  • WG is working on updating the radio commands/quick keys.
  • Skill based MM will not be introduced to random battles.
  • WG is not planning to nerf RN cruisers.
  • Old temporary campaigns are not likely to be rerun. WG prefers making new stuff.

"The staggered release (of Hood) has been met with utmost negativity, although we had such offers in the past. The players have been very negative about selling the most expensive package alone and for that price. I don't want to cover-up, we have apparently miscalculated, it was not the best decision to offer a bundle. I hope and will do everything so that nothing similar will ever happen on the RU cluster. We will sell new ships by offering a choice of bundles, from more expensive to bare-bones. We have learned the lesson by studying your feedback on the official forum and other online resources. We have understood that the bundle pricing strategy was erroneous...I consider it a personal error, and we do not plan vexing players in the future."

 

About the forthcoming premium ships:

 

1. Carrier Kaga will be sold in June.

2. Cruiser De Grasse will be sold in 0.6.5, but only as part of a combat mission with an XP requirement.

3. Cruiser Makarov will not be sold or awarded in special events. How it will be distributed remains a secret.

Participating developers: Sub_Octavian, kindly (CM), BadPreacher (game analytics), s_bogatov (historical consultant), Tarki_Tau (CM).

  1. Developers don't like the disbalance between IJN and USN CVs - one of the possible solutions is to rebalance all setups and add AP bombs an an alternative for USN, which will ravage straight-sailing BBs and overpenetrate anything without an armored deck.
  2. Balancing sub-classes (e.g. VMF DD/DL vs IJN in opposing teams) is complicated and it's not good to overload the balancer.
  3. No premiums ships higher than T8 are currently in development.
  4. The first versions of the tech trees aren't perfect, craphappens. Changes of the trees, as happened with VMF and IJN DDs are a lot of work that few people need - those who finished them already don't tend to re-play it, and there aren't many new players - so the only planned change to existing branches is the USN cruisers fix.
  5. La Galissonnière will be buffed, probably in the same patch when De Grasse is released.
  6. New Orleans is doing fine thanks to its concealment, Baltimore will be looked at, but overall these aren't AA cruisers anymore, since there are many new branches and the old roles don't work. Play them as support.
  7. Epicenter as a mode is fine, Epicenter on "Tears of the Desert" is not fine, the devs want to do something about it.
  8. There aren't many CVs on high tier battles - after the changes to credit calculation the dispersion of the credit gain became smaller (i.e. noobs lose less but unicums earn less, too), the unicums noticed it and started whining - but now the devs changed it again, they're still observing and want to do something about it.
  9. Something that would allow clans to play together is being developed - NOT team battles.
  10. There were too much signals from containers, they don't want to balance ships for them and to inflate signals' worth, so they had to cut the amount of signals that you get from containers.
  11. Cool flags in various regions are thanks to the regions' event departments.
  12. The UI department is overloaded with work, so they can't do everything on time.
  13. The devs don't like the smoke timer, it'll be replaced.
  14. Premium ships are meant to be historically accurate regarding the ship's looks in a certain period of time; tech tree ships can be a mishmash of different sisterships and it's ok.
  15. A new training mode was made, it's displayed as a special offer to 50% of the newbies. Later, the devs will check its statistics and decide whether to expand it or cancel it.

Also, the devs don't like the current CV attack/alt-attack situation, they want to do something based on a single principle, but skill-dependant.

JamesWhite in the last developer stream: The only forbidden modification is the aim assist. Consequently, everything else is allowed.

 

In particular, not forbidden are:

 

1. Rainbow mod, which shows the place of shell fall on the water surface, while the salvo is still in flight. Makes it very easy to dodge. The same exists for torpedoes.

 

2. X-Ray mod, which always shows the outline of all ships, even if they are behind islands.

 

The message showing screen shots of these two mods have been removed from the RU forum, hence I give a description only.

 

A probable reason for not banning these mods is the inability to reliably detect them.

 

PS: This information is important for several reasons. Obviously what can be used without sanctions in game, but also what can be discussed without sanctions on this forum.

So French BB Jean-Bart will arrive quite soon?  Nice.  I still wonder in what version she will appear... the planned 1940 version or the actual completed 1955 version? They already did De Grasse in planned 1940 version so I guess, no Kutuzof-like AA BB for French Navy is likely to come to us, alas...

Another thing worrying me is: no news from British BBs yet?  Sounds fishy.
