New Aim Mod (No, realy, this one is new)

Was playing BB and CV, but looks like I have to specialize to CV, since playing BB is completely pointless from now on... Only CV and DD require any skill now...

Wait what? CVs require skill? They require a brain cell or two but I would hardly call them the most complex thing in WOWS. CV players aren't under pressure from the heat of battle.

You really went off-topic.

Prove?

How can he prove if all links to it get deleted by the moderators. We had a thread with a link today, now we don't...

I'm undoing my happy dance, already felt a bit fishy last couple of days :(

edit: and you already had a pm ;)

edit2:

But, since it was killed last time and it took quite a long time to come back, I trust WG will keep braking this cheat in ways which will be harder and harder to circumvent.

I'm postponing my position on this until I try it tomorrow but if this really works this would really be BLACK FRIDAY.

I already changed my avatar to reflect the state of WoWs lately but I'd have never guessed it would become even more apropiate.

Just the same as viruses really. Code is code. You can always find a way. It just needs to get to the point where the effort is too much for it to be viable. That or draconian barriers to modding.

I really am at the point where I'd say that what has to be has to be... I would miss certain mods a lot though, but rather that then having aim assist for cheaters.

I need to remind you  - no links. If you want to get WG`s attention, send them to support.

What if we don't want to draw their attention, for that has been proven useless countless of times in the past, but want to warn our fellow gamers of the new exploit? And what if, being reasonable people, these fellow gamers demand a proof? How can we deliver?

Just encountered a good player in a Mogami, sitting behind an island and shooting at everyone, always hitting. Yep, definitely there´s some good players out there

Corrected that for you.

The powers that be are fully aware of the mod in question so please tell me why, 'warning' fellow gamers that it exists? It will not help whatsoever will it? Putting a link up was the most idiotic thing that could have been done as it would aid those that want to 'cheat' and had not known about it before, understand? You speak as though WG are not aware about it but they are so let them work on a 'fix' and not keep shouting about it.

So, correct me if I am wrong, for WG staff, depending if it suits you or not, sometimes the forumites are an important, representative part of the playerbase, and sometimes just a small, non-representative, and non-important percentage of the playerbase?

Just meh.

Are you not (possibly) abusing your supertester title with this statement? As far as I know, no official message has been given about the aim assist or that the developers are working on a fix, so by uttering that as a fact, you are misleading people who do not know that supertesters are limited by NDAs. Or have the rules changed and you are now allowed to give out information that has not yet been officially released? I apologise in advance if I have missed something.

In any case, there is both a downside and upside to spreading the link, though I do not approve of it. The downside is obvious, while the upside is that it applies more pressure on the developers, effectively hastening the solution (if possible). Let's be honest, if simply one person were using a home-made aim-assist, there would not be a response from WG. I still remember how they initially handled the first "crisis"...

why do they even allow implementations in their game code from third parties in the first place is beyond me, alterations of software beyond cosmetics should be a bannable offense period

Ok, first thing, I am not abusing my title by stating what may not be obvious to some. There is no need to make 'official statements until something concrete has been achieved - a fix. All I am saying is to use a little imagination here, developers are made aware of an issue that is being heavily complained about and is affecting morale. Would they ignore it? Of course not. The fact nothing has been said does not mean they are not aware and are in working on it.

Your last statement in stating that giving the link out, is in fact detrimental, as it will give a wider audience an opportunity to use it.

I assume you can't comment on the bundle-o-rama that has been happening on the EU server in particular? As it is now, it appears that it'll never stop untill the game has a serious player drop-off. Which coincidentally these bundles can cause in the worst case scenario.

Regarding the first paragraph, excuse my scepticism, but WG's track record for reacting to cheats, bots, etc. is not exactly stellar. My gripe was that you wrote "they are working on it" as a fact, while it most likely is true. Combine that with your status and you would get the illusion of inside knowledge. Not that it matters much, as I also believe that they are trying to find a solution which disables the aim-mod without impeding the approved mods.

As for giving out the link being detrimental, I never stated the opposite. I merely wrote the (possible) effect such an action could have. Even in my original reply, I voiced my disapproval.
