Agree, WG should be told that this isnt a promotion at all. Customers with basic buying skills can tell if a deal is good or bad - this is aimed at newbies.

Greetings,

in the german area of the forum we have the following thread and I would like to point this out in the english section aswell, because the "offer" ´with the 4 harbor slotts is not realy an offer:

http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/30694-premiumshop-angebot-ab-1792015-liegeplaetze-premiumzeit/

The calculation by Eisenkarl is:

So... 250,77 Doublons per Euro does sound "ok", right? Well, lets compare it to the regular 2500 Doublon package wich costs basicaly the same:

2.500 Doublons / 9,95€ => 251,26 Doublons/EUR

Or in other words, do not buy this "offer", since you will get better value for your money by using the standard package for basicaly the same ammount of money.

If you want to get 7 days of premium and 4 Harbor slotts, get the basic 2500 gold offer instead.

Jesus thats borderline scamming.....

I thought this was going to be a regular rebel whine thread, but you are completely right.

WG always made crap special bundles, but this is just stupid.

Can we get a comment on this from the community team before it spirals out of control?

This is beyond stupid, a launch without any special offers like the Warspite or a big sale. Not even a patch, any content or events (outside of money grabbing Twitch streamers).

Even better lets look at the wording

Captain's Primer;

For all the captains that are just coming on board, this package is the best way to get you up to full speed and catch up with the rest of the fleet. One week of Premium account to get your feet wet and 4 extra Port slots to expand your fleet. Welcome aboard!

Hi new players! To celebrate you trying out our new game we are going to scam you out of more money.

Well that just about tops things off for their launch day.  They hardly publicise it, there's no new content apart from ranked battles and then they try to scam their customers with a pitiful "special" offer.  I swear you couldn't make this sh*t up, it just needs their servers to go offline for 24 hrs to make this an epic fail.

Hello customers! To celebrate the launch, we prepared a shiny new scam for you. Enjoy!

This deserves headlines in some gaming press.

We shall give them a little more time. Henceforth, back to the pub to wait to see if this day can be redeemed at all.

Feels like shopping in a supermarket and seeing special offer with lowered price which is actually higher than regular one. People doesn't compare prices, just buy "discounted" because it says: special offer.

Marketing 101.

Thanks for the calculations and comparison. Not that I'm going to buy anything but few folks may open their eyes.

Damn....that's brutal. "Fraud is theft with a smile"

If only we had a system where we paid for content depending on how much we think it's worth and not how much developers want it to be worth.

Not too mention 7 day of premium is more expencive per day then 1 month. So they make you buy a pretty expencive 7 days of premium. Pfff

Ahh so that's the kind of publicity they had planned through this cunning strategy of theirs to do nothing.  I guess it's free publicity, which will appeal to them.  :trollface:

Um... is it actually legal to call it a special offer if it is de facto more expensive than the regular offer?

I'm not a Lawyer, but they didn't put a "6% savings" or similar in the description, they just said 10 days remaining. So it probably is legal, yes as they made no claims to it being cheaper, they just said it was a special offer.

Ethical, no.

Yes, it's legal, it can be done the way they did it, but if it gets found out, there can be big issues for them on the community side and then the news and such, not good for their image.
