How would you describe the launch of WoW?

At first I thought that the lack of almost any pre-launch activities were deliberate with the aim to make a bigger impact on the launch day with specials and so on.

Now I understand that it was due to the absolute lack of idea or effort to make a good launch.

I guess WGEU marketing people should seriously consider pursuing some other career or going back to school...

While I am a big fan of WoWs and believe that in general WG does a good job, this is by far the lamest and laziest launch any developer could have done.

Shame on you WG!

It seems that the most effort is centered around some giveaways through streamers. This would at least be a little something if WG have not chosen some of them (which I will not name) who have basically no commitment to playing WoWs.

In other words, trying to advertise a game via a streamer who actually does not particularly like the game and hoping it will bring new players, is wishful thinking to say the least.

Maybe, just maybe WG will try to do some "damage control" in the coming hours and days, but I am afraid that it will be "too little too late". Speaking about the wasted opportunity...

Actually this is a totally normal launch (your pic not WoWs' launch).

The text in the gif are the reference to how devs treat us :)

For the first time I'm worried. I seen all the threads about "This will end like WOWP" and dismissed them, surely WG don't want another flop? That can't be good for business? But after today's non event I'm officially concerned.

The official launch? Utterly abysmal, so underwhelming and disappointing that it's removed my desire to play this evening. They've really really flopped on this one, good grief. Now they want us to watch live streams with a 1/100000000(?) chance to win a ship? No thanks fellas, that was incredibly shortsighted on your part. Watching people spam, beg, etc in the hope of winning a ship in a competition which leaves most participants totally disappointed is not my idea of the way to launch your game WG, loool!

I had bullied several of my work friends into trying out the game, telling them the game will be released today and they can get all sorts of bargains/promotions to start them off in the game (you know, like all other games do)... even saved a little cash to spend myself to snap up some launch bargains   :teethhappy:

And to the morons stating 'It isn't a big deal, it is only the games official launch' ....   Well, as working in marketing myself, it IS a big deal and there should be promotions galore  :izmena:

That would be because the average player IQ on weekends was overtaken by single cell organisms.

I've found that weekday evenings are far more enjoyable.

Regarding the "launch". Well... Enough has been said. Underwhelming at best.

Been concerned for a while now. From CBT to OBT something hasn't been right. I'm wondering if the WoW team has been rushed, in CBT the game seemed to be going at a nice steady pace and in the right direction but since OBT the game has been rushed and not heading in the right direction. To me the game seems a mess, the communication is dire. The events are dire and now on open day, it's like WoW just sank. Something aint right but maybe it's just my suspicious mind.

Lack of communication...  and i bet they will do some thing at the weekend to do damage controll but instead of saying sorry guys we messed up and getting respect for that. They will pretend that they was all ways going to do some thing on the weekend instead.

Then they could have delayed release until tomorrow and nobody would have been any the wiser so that BS won't wash if they try it.

After the latest "communication" on the announcement thread I am officially in the "no desire to play" catergory.

I am seriously wondering if WG have internally decided to focus on Tanks and to just make a stab at the other games for the sake of appearances and then sabotage them so we will go back to their cash cow. Everything from the Warspite fiasco to this seems to have been designed to piss us off. And now we see contempt oozing out.

If that's their goal then I hate to shock them but WOT is an old game that's just getting older and frankly its just not that enjoyable most of the time

I like this game. But [edited], I'm regretting the money I've spent on it. Thanks be to God I resisted the Tirpitz temptation.
