When I played it on the test server, the games weren't decided by Clevelands. They were decided by DD's because the gametype design is idiotic.

I am still deciding between 0/1/3 Ranger and 2/2/2 Hiryu. But will probably go for Hiryu as it is just more flexible. I will even try out the Myoko as I am exping it right now.

So the calculation you used initially is totally wrong. The fire chance reductions affect soft stats in the background, not specifically the shells fire chance, correct me if I'm wrong.

The true order of events would be 12% to start fire, if true, roll for hull vulnerability to fire with captain skills modifier, (For arguments sake .75 - .12 = 63% chance of fire for example). So it's 12% chance gated by another 63% roll, depending on ship type and possibly tier. In this case you're right, the two percent increase isn't going to make a huge difference and it's just arbitrary and stupid enough to be a more believable than diminishing returns to ensure no 0% of fire.

Im not sure if I understand you correctly, but as far Ive read into the whole matter it goes like this:

1. Check base fire chance of the Shell/bomb that hits you, lets say it is 10%. This 10% are a reference value that is true when you hit a stock Tier 1 Cruiser with it that has 0 modifications etc. All calculation revolve around this base- value.

2. Calculate targeted ships inert fire resistance. This is assumed to go rather linearily from T1 to T10 with the T10 having a 50% reduction of chance of getting set on fire. There might also be other hidden modifiers (f.e. last patch Myokos chance to burn was increased by 7,7%; no one knows whats happening behind closed curtains, lol). However, lets say our ship has a 30% "natural" reduction. ->10%100*70 = 7%

3. Check modifiers of targeted ship and captain. Lets say with the -7% skill and -5% module it is a total of -12%.

 >7%/100*88 = 6,16% per shell

Pyromania-skill would add a flat +3% on the shells base-firechance before other calculations. If (and I dare to doubt that) the devs posting is true nowadays.

Oh I see, the fire chance of the shell is multiplied by the ship resistance. After reading it I had somehow come to the conclusion that there was two separate rolls, one for the fire chance of the shell and one for the fire chance of the hull itself. Rereading it I don't know where I got that from.

Poll results:

1. Cleveland

2. IJN BBs

3. Some other ships

Myoko and New Mexico got good numbers. Colorado... Er less!

Cleveland it's a must have with  advanced firing training skill. But i think Fuso with 20km range and Gun fire control system modification upgrade, firing 12 AP salvos   can obliterate any tier 6 or 7 crusier in game (the problems is Fuso maneuverability :sceptic:).

Fuso with paid upgrades, flag and reasonably trained captain (intendent & cooldowns) can shrug the fires off easily and eat those Clevelands alive. Even more true for Nagato which should prove all its worth against tier 6-7.
