LeshiiY Beta Tester 6 posts 2,970 battles Report post #26 Posted September 15, 2015 regarding the viability of the top tier DDs...ask any top tier NON CV player what scares them the most in the game. they WILL say it's the enemy DD. i'm mainly playing DDs.when i get into the game and see the setups i am afraid only of 2 things, enemy CV or a DD.if the match has no CVs then it's pretty much free reign. if there's no CV and ENEMY DD in the match, you're god. and with the amount of BBs and CAs in the top tiers atm. DDs ARE SCARY here's some screens of what happens when the enemy team lets the DD play uncontested

alalos Players 170 posts 847 battles Report post #28 Posted September 15, 2015 (edited) To support your idea: http://www.warshipstats.com/shipleaders/ Global/Japan/Minekaze to Kagero/Damage This is the global server stats. Minekaze at highest 75k average damage Mutsuki at highest 59k average damage Hatsuharu at highest 56k average damage Fubuki at highest 67k average damage Kagero at highest 72.9k average damage This isnt caused by lower rate of torpedo fire this is caused by 12 seconds reaction time. You do have another account or how you know that ? There are a few factors bc of that. - reload - speed ( dd ) - maps - torp spread but the most importants are... up there.. a few people did learn to play. Most likely enemy BB´s wont go straight for 1 minute... a real played crusier will miss maybe the first salvo.. but not the second. You get most likely hunted by other good DD Cpt... and you will be the main target. CV´s will spot you NON STOP if they are able to ( thanks to the update they have to care about the other CV too.. not like before and they were lucky ). You will stay at your CV if your close and no cruiser will protect it.. for the smokeing if needed. You smoke your team much more... i don´t need that at tier 4-5.. why should i ? Iam a predator at that tier level. The dd gameplay changes with tier 6.. i had to learn it the very hard way... Edited September 15, 2015 by alalos
[POPPY] Khitan Players 110 posts 25,911 battles Report post #29 Posted September 22, 2015 The success of a DD should not be judged on damage done alone. Map control - you can lock a map area down denying the enemy. scouting in front of your BB vs theirs, very effective if they dont have a DD screen Holding a flank all by yourself by spamming torps at them Speculative torps early game into lines of approach to main battle areas can disrupt the enemy giving your team tactical advantage.. Torp runs dont have to hit to be effective. If an enemy ship is avoiding your torps he is not shooting, nor is he going the direction he wants and you are disrupting his battle position - all of which gives your team an edge. none of these result in great stats other than WR - but nevertheless I would argue are more important than a torpedo hit.
