Sure she's slow and her range is pretty lacklustre but the firepower is awesome and she can take one hell of a beating. I got 173k damage in her and I don't think I'll beating that for a long time. The Aoba is a brilliant all rounder but she doesn't really excel anywhere which makes her less exciting I guess. People see the insane RoF of the Cleveland and don't really notice the Aoba's punchy 203mms and torpedoes. I am used to IJN cruiser - if this thing doesnt constantly loose rudder from HE _misses_ around the stern I am in heaven allready. New Orleans seems to be the turd tough ... Together with the Fuso it is currently the only ship I kept instead of selling it while moving on with the grind. And between those two it's the Aoba I take out most regularly in random battles. The lack of guns being partially negated by a higher rate of fire, it's small, quick, nimble, just cheerful around. I especially love the gun arcs and generally having 66% of your firepower head-on, and equal head-on firepower to say even an Ibuki, it is the broadsides that make later IJN Cruisers be valuable, and without that the Aoba is better than pretty much any of them (at least better than Myoko and Ibuki on account of it's higher rate of fire!!). Funnily enough the ship itself isn't performing overwhelmingly good (unlike the Fuso or Amagi for instance) but it's just so damn fun to play!! 10/10 would recommend to anyone. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
