[HAIFU] Karaya1 Beta Tester 211 posts 9,178 battles Report post #6 Posted September 9, 2015 Wait time before match should be increased. Indeed. Just upgrade to SSD is nice and all, but im Poor. So its not going to happen anytime soon, and sometimes especially in certain classes like DD and CV i would like to use the first seconds (up to a minute at times) to get into position/launch my planes earlier. Also i sometimes noticed that the loading bar disappeared as though its finished but at bad days i can still wait more than 30 sec to actually be placed in the game. That is only for the first battle on a specific map though.

I tried it on 2 PCs and 2 laptops, it is nearly impossible to get into battle in time without SSD. If this is working as intended, SSD should be mentioned in minimum harware requirements. Leif_GG_Persson Beta Tester 130 posts 4,963 battles Report post #12 Posted September 10, 2015 I don't have an SSD and I always load in 10-20 seconds before the game starts. The first game each day loads slowly, though, and sometimes I miss 10-20 seconds of the game. After that, every game loads quickly. At any rate, the solution to this problem is definitely not to make the countdown longer. If there is a bug that makes loading take so long that players don't make it in in time, then that needs to be fixed. Leaving it in and just making the countdown longer is not the way to go.

If it were possible to fix it sure, but as a stopgap measure it would be better to just increase the countdown by say...15 seconds ? Thats not too long and it gives a fair chance to load for everyone until the fix arrives.
[OFFA] BlueRuby Players 11 posts 2,820 battles Report post #14 Posted September 12, 2015 Pre-4.1, i could get in 20 sec before game starts,or 20 secs after, depending upon the map. Now, its a pretty constant 10 secs after. My machine is pretty middle-of-the-road...it should work better than this...particularly as, as already mentioned, often fully one third oof players join after game start

KRBeC Beta Tester 263 posts 4,301 battles Report post #20 Posted September 15, 2015 Well the fact is that first game (for every map separately) is loading hell longer than I would consider OK (playing on laptop with lowest graphic settings). Wonder how will it improve with new laptop, still I guess first battles will take longer time. What I would reay like to know is how WoWs works with memory and/or whther it will be possible to make some "preload" of maps before I will even try to join game, so it will be possible to avoid those excessive loading times for first battle on map. [SV] Berrserkr Supertester 85 posts 15,279 battles Report post #22 Posted September 15, 2015 One thing one can try if you can't replace the system disk with a large SSD is to get a smaller SSD and set it up as a cache for the mechanical HD. This way recently used applications and files will be on the SSD and thus load at SSD speed but still seem as large as the mechanical disk. I know that Intel got software for their SSD but I guess that other manufacturers do too. I'm using a 3rd party software for my two 3Tb data disks and a 240 Gb SSD as cache. Almost all of the files I work with regularly fit in the SSD, with a hit rate of 70-80% the large disks act pretty much as a 6 Tb SSD which is quite nice

[ENUF] Ze_Reckless [ENUF] Players 2,532 posts 23,427 battles Report post #24 Posted September 22, 2015 I had the same issue. Long loading time when starting the game, when going to port or clicking on my ships. (I have WoWS on SSD.) What helped: I did deinstall and install the game again. Good as new. So HDD / SSD is not the problem.

But who cares in a game, where we're technically still in beta because 0.xxx versionsis are unfinished products, at least in respectable software developing companies.
