DJ_Die Players 930 posts 9,329 battles Report post #76 Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) Imho Aoba is a much better cruiser than Cleveland except when it comes to AA and survivability because Cleve has almost nonexistent citadel I dont know about your idea of fun but mine doesnt include being hopelessly outclassed most of the time because using your torps for t6-7 US DDs is often one-way trip and even if you do survive you sure as hell can't do it again unless the enemy is utterly stupid which unfortunately doesnt happen all that often in high tiers I dont see how Bogue is superior to Zuiho...I have played both, have you? Funny how you should say Ranger is only slightly worse than Hiryu because Ranger is just crap compared to it American fighters are mostly comparable to IJN ones if you have equal numbers of them...and while yes one US squad is better than one IJN one theres a reason why IJN get more of them not to mention better loadouts until tier 8 when things get more or less equal And yeah i do agree Midway is better than the IJN T10 CV Edited October 19, 2015 by DJ_Die Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
jonasnee Beta Tester 172 posts 11,436 battles Report post #77 Posted October 19, 2015 the hiryu is a joke compared to the Ryujo even before the nerf. aoba vs cleveland is a question that comes down to many things, the aobas guns are better (more accurate, lower angle of attack etc.) but it has half the number of guns, and the dmg is more or less the same from what i remember, its secondaries to are better having 6*2 while aoba only has 4 single turrets., the aoba have torps but frankly it is a rarity to use them, and for AA cleveland is the absolute biggest thread to carriers at those tiers. if your using the cleveland you should get into a 7-9 km range where your superior firepower overmatch the long range potential and the torps of the aoba. the shokaku isn't even better than the hiryu btw, same number of planes and the same load outs, it would be better balanced if it got 1 more torp squad in its deck. about fighters it deppends, i can wipe american fighters in the air but i also use hold and cut tactics, a thing most carrier players don't, my 2 squads are only barely equal to 1 of my opponents squads. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
DJ_Die Players 930 posts 9,329 battles Report post #78 Posted October 19, 2015 and even then Hiryu still owns Ranger which one is the bigger joke? sure Aoba has half the guns but theyre 8" so they are imho pretty equal except Cleveland sucks at any range over 10km because any half-decent captain will just evade the parachuting shells so yeah Cleveland is not OP at all in fact Aoba is very good as well And thats the problem...Hiryu has the same loadouts as a T8 CV while Ranger has the same loadouts as a T6 CV yeah your 8 planes are barely able to kill 6 enemy fighters you get what....3left? also if the enemy Ranger has AS loadout your FPs cant beat him but you can effectively interdict his FPs and still strike anything while he cant do jack because he gave up everything just to get those 2 FP squads....oh sorry not everything he also gets a couple of DBs of dubious utility....seems ok Im not saying Hiryu needs a nerf mind you....Ranger should get a buff Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
