Flip DD torpedo reaction times around

Make low tier DDs torpedos spotted from a much greater distance or slow them down. This will help prevent those DDs OP threads and allow players to actually understand how to avoid torps at low levels. As it is now, they have barely even time to see the torps. Yes they can be easily avoided, but we are talking absolute beginners here. They need some hand-holding.

 

Make high tier DDs torpedos be spotted from a much smaller distance or speed them up. Right now the reaction time increases, along with player skill. Which means that DDs become exponentially less effective in higher tiers. This is completely wrong. High tier players know what they are doing and if not, they deserve to be sunk by another player who knows what they are doing. So at least make it a challenge to avoid torps of DDs past T6.

Yes I have proposed this several times as well, but mostly as part of DDs OP! or DDs UP! threads, not as a seperate thread.

I've been noticing the playstyle of Shimakaze players: they know their torpedos will be seen from a long distance, so they just blanket a region with many enemy ships and pray for a hit.

 

t4 IJN DD is the new Minekaze for me. Got Fubuki researched, but it's not worth the 9mil, at least not with my funds.

Play few battles in DD and they may understand how to deal with torp. If they rush up like some do in wot they will not learn anything no matter how much you tried to help them.

DD is suck because they too fragile over to fire anything except DDs and force to spam torp which unreliable weapon and fcking easy to dodge in high tier and plane is everywhere ,The most cruel time for DD is tier 6-7 which you have to face cleav everywhere which ready to blow you up  and your torp sucks)    idk why wg can't figures out

WG doesn't want DDs to be competitive at high tiers. They said they want CVs and BB to dominate high tier gameplay, while CA and DD usually just for support.. DDs are there just to make CV and BB's time easier.. so they have more fun at your expense, and to punish bad BB players at that tier.

So then they should just make Kitakami the T10 of both DD trees, because that seems to be exactly the DD they want, right? (I'm not being serious)

They said they wanted CVs to dominate high tier gameplay and then nerfed the crap out of them?

If anything Destroyers, especially at higher tiers need some kind of buff. Like maybe a passive speed boost when moving towards an enemy ship?

I will quote myself - what DDs need is:

  1. Planes not revealing them completely, just showing their outline on the minimap - this gives counterplay for everyone who pays attention to the minimap, without ruining the DDs life
  2. Planes revealing torpedos from a much smaller distance
  3. Weaker torpedos with less reload time at high tiers - so they can threaten BBs more often with torps, not just 5-6 times a game
  4. Flip the goddamn reaction times

i'm a one of CV fan but after the nerf patch (which almost got my tear) CV still can do a dmg and still be good support compared to DDs which worse than CV many time, Imagin that you use auto drop from 10 km aways ......

Only mid-tier CVs were nerfed. Look at Midway, still the most OP ship at tier 10.

I agree; I think the quality of torps (via damage and lower revealing radius) would be more fun than quantity of torps (spamming a lot with a shorter reload time although lower damage).

sad things im on mid tier IJN CV  and seem too much Defensive fire there on tier 10 which my hakuryuu 's spread suckz:trollface:

High tier DDs shouldn't be spammy.. they shouldn't throw away torps and hope something will hit, but to plan your attack ahead, calculate, take a risk, and if you done it right you should get rewarded with a high damage hit. The reason why you can't do that now is because of the spotting of torps is just too big. They need to be stealthier for that to happen.

That is like the most important one on the list..

 

We only have 2 nations. I remember that germans and british dont have much high calibre torpedoes. Germans use 533 all the way and british evolve from 480 or something. You will get to do spamming in those. Just like the way it is in wot. Diffrent nations diffrent abilities

The thing is - 90%, hell maybe even 99% don't enjoy sitting in a boat, hiding, only to fire torpedos every 2-3 minutes! And then pray they hit something. I certainly don't. I rather spam torpedos all day long and when they hit it hurts, but isn't a nightmare. This way I actually get to really interact with something, which is kinda what makes a game a game.

 

This has little to do with tactics and skill, but with boredom. Doing nothing for several minutes in a game is really stupid.

Exactly this. Torp detection should be tier flipped, so high tier DDs can do something, and noobs stop to cry "DDs OP, nerf!" At lower tiers.

seem you need a radio control torpedo like german's bomb to interact with :trollface:

Maybe 1.0 - 1.2 fire rate with same dmg is ok

I havent seen one person that complains about long torpedo reload and played in big maps. The high tier maps are really big. It never makes you feel like the reload is long because you travel a long distance. The biggest map in game is 50x50. Trust me these north and such maps are 36x36.

1. CVs are still by far the most powerful ship in the game and clear outliers. They just actually need some small amount of skill where previously they needed none. Utter baddies used to effort-free farm and getting only exp comparable to good BBs of same tier now though, which appears to feel bad when you're using to effortless domination of the game.

Which is still ridiculous, and skilled CV players still dominate utterly with no peers on other ship types.

2. Top tier CVs were left completely untouched in terms of nerfs.

3. Proper destroyer engagement is you moving ahead and away from enemy ship while putting torpedoes into his path, not facerushing and getting 1-2 shotted by a BB with even a shred of a clue.

I can only speak for myself, but a major reason why I stopped at Sucksuki (Mutsuki) is because I had to wait 90 seconds to do something. It was so boring, I felt like I should play a second game next to WoWs, simply because most of the time I was simply driving. Cruise Ship Simulator basically.
