So the Colorado is a bad ship, huh? You guys are cute.

It was bad now its just average.

Im nearly doing twice as much dmg as you in my Nagi, but as I havnt yet even gotten the NM I cant comment on the rest of the US line. Hell im doing more dmg in my NY (which I hate to play) than you are in your Colorado so when I get Col it might be equal to Nagi.

Can other players see the skin? They can't right? I wish! :D

Colorado (latreral) dispersion is actually exactly the same as NM.

I suspect the bad reputation of the colorado is due to it's the loss of the 3rd gun.

No they would have to have the skin in their res_mod folder to see it or just look at the pic lol

I don't have the Colorado, but I have talked quite a bit to ppl playing it as it has been considered a "turd-ship". My impression is something have happened lately. I suspect a ninja-buff from WG. Anyone able to confirm this?

It wasnt a ninja buff, it was a well announced buff. First of all the RPM got increased pretty dramatically from 1.7 to 2.0, also the turrets now turn 33% faster (captain perk doesnt benefit from that, so the actual increase for most players is a bit lower - from 3.7 degrees to 4.7 so 27%.

You can make Colorado work, if you don't go too far from action... here is my Colorado results from last seasons ranked battles, where there is a lot of brawling:

I hate it. I have 65% plus success in RB's with my other BB's - this one 30%. I lost 9 battles in a row and now will only play it in Co-ops. Slow (usually torpedo killed, can't get to action, can't escape), inaccurate, short range and not fun to play. Moving up the IJN line instead. Some success as escort / guard for cap and carrier - but not my style of play. Worse ship I have played by miles.

the only horrible thing about the colorado is its stock hull

ever since i upgraded it my winrate with it is increasing (i had a realy bad streak with it its one of my cursed ships...)

while im not to fond  of 8gun (4x2gun) BBs the colorado is pretty good its is reasonably accurate  you can maintain a good angle while firing 8 and a verry good angle while firing 6 guns

it is slow but thats noting new to usn captains.

good aa and good turn ability.

its a solid ship.

Fully agree on the stock hull, similar to say a Fuso the ship becomes so much better once you install some upgrades. I think the main issue is most people don't understand the role of the Colorado and hence dispense it as a bad ship. It's not, just not.

- Its armour, particularly its belt armour, will keep you alive very well if angled properly.

- It has fantastic AA for its Tier, cutting through whole swarms of enemy planes if they don't pay attention or act in an overconfident manner. It's like having 1,5 Clevelands bolted onto your hull.

- Its guns are fine if you fire from 10-12 km away where the dispersion won't bite you too much, the trick is to get into that position without drawing too much attention to yourself.

The Colorado is a brawler AA support BB that has excellent manoeverability and can turn on a dime. Get into the fight, angle properly and enemy ships and planes will want to get away from you asap.

Yep, stock hull is horrible. I wanted to grind to B-hull in coop games vs AI but got discouraged by an Iowa that one-shot me through the front at max range. So I spent Free XP. Colorado B was somewhat playable, C-hull is a Tier 7 beast. Accuracy is pure randomness - either it hits like a railgun, or it spreads like a shotgun comparable to New York and New Mexico, but there is nothing in between. However, side armor is very good and at this tier there are only few ships that can penetrate the central citadel. It is more likely to take citadel hits through the bow/stern or upper deck so showing broadside is not too much of a problem most of the time.

i love the Colorado, reason?

because it puts you to the test on 3 things

1. endurance (the grinding part)

2. your sanity ( you'll figure it out)

3. your desire for the North Carolina (for fame and glory :D )

your not a man (or a BB captain/pro) until you grind past the Colorado...

Hehe. I got past the Colorado. Got a fully upgraded North Carolina, and decided I like Colorado better - so just play that :-)   Isn't some kind of syndrome whereby you can get a real emotional attachment to your torturer?

After having played North Carolina for like +100 battles I've had the same sensation. Now that I just finished the grind I've noticed Iowa has the same dispersion as NC, and I've had enough of that, so no more US battleships for me.

I'll probably sell NC and buy the Colorado again. I'll have to retrain the captain, but I'll probably have more fun than the boring tier X battles.

People say colorado sucks because they are fools who have never tried it and just say it sucks because it has a bad reputation... True, stock colorado is horrible, but when you upgrade it it becomes one of the best BBs in the game....people say it's worse than the nagato...at what exactly? If you know anything about angling you can turn its armor into a very powerful one, it's a lot more accurate than the nagato, turrets rotate faster and it has better aa...the only thing that it does have worse is its speed and range....it's armor accounts for the loss of hp.

Yesterday, two salvos of 32k to my nagato at 12k. Died in 5 mins. Yes, Colorado is bad ^^

I usually do that to nagatos in my colorado(although ships tend to die a lot faster than in 5 minutes in it)...I guess nagato sucks

On a side note.. I recently tried a bit of a re-spec with my Colorado. Replacing AA modules for secondaries, and trying out the new T5 captain skill for targeted secondaries.. Only really tried it in around 5 games so far, but it really does seem like its not worth trying to buff them on this boat. Seeing a lot more carriers at that tier in game too, now - and losing so much AA to get this build is really hurting. Will try a bit more and let you guys know - but I'm already thinking of going back to an AA-heavy setup (now that there are planes to shoot again!).

The reality of this ship:

  • 1k cruiser AP hits
  • occasional cruiser citadel
  • 1k destroyer ap hits
  • 0,9-1k destroyer he hits
  • 0k destroyer he hits
  • slow as crap = you end up alone because everyone is faster
  • you have to comit where the game spawns you
  • 8 inch cruisers hit for 3-5k every salvo

Conclusion: infinite fun ship. 100% working as intended.

That's what angling is for

I have quite enjoyed the Colorado, in one game took out three cruisers one after the other firing long distance and each had one salvo each, but looking forward to going to the next tier of BB

I hate the colorado, New Mexico is better for my playstyle, and the North Carolina aswell. Seems like it could use a buff when it comes to penetration or so.
