abkack Players 148 posts 6,306 battles Report post #1 Posted August 30, 2015 I often see captains firing their guns right after the start of the game. [COSTS] Hanszeehock Alpha Tester 3,692 posts 5,958 battles Report post #2 Posted August 30, 2015 Because they are a bit silly ? Not only can they get spotted, but ammo costs credits, so it's a stupid thing to do. Will they learn ?

[BLOBS] StuntMan0369 Beta Tester 923 posts 4,848 battles Report post #5 Posted August 30, 2015 I believe what they are doing is 'clearing the barrels'. This means they are firing off the ammunition they have loaded to make way for new ammunition (usually switching between HE and AP). Now, this would make since in real combat, but in WoWs, if you double tap 1 or 2, it forces you to load the next ammo without firing. My guess is they just don't know this and they think it's the only way to switch between ammo type. It does get them spotted early and whilst most ships don't have the range to capitalise on it, it's still an indicator of which way they are travelling. Either that or they are attempting that one in a million shot
[TRYIT] wremise Beta Tester 263 posts 3,333 battles Report post #6 Posted August 30, 2015 you know that useless artilleryfire in wot at the start of the battle? im sure some of the players like it, and they want to create the same feeling in wows too, and cause there is no artilllery in wows, they just fire there main guns!
ThatOneDidntGoIn Beta Tester 304 posts 2,142 battles Report post #7 Posted August 31, 2015 Because people are bored waiting for the game to load and are fidgeting and press the mouse button when they shouldn't. I've done that a few times. Kids who like to hear things go boom. People who don't care if they are spotted 30 seconds in to the game because its utterly irrelevant if someone sees you then or not. People thinking they can get a lucky shot in. I think it has happened when I say a destroyer rush in.
Strikes_from_nowhere Players 1 post 37 battles Report post #8 Posted September 1, 2015 Well, I wouldn´t call the artillery fire useless. E.g. my daughter knows typical arty positions quite well and, surprisingly often, takes an enemy arty out right at the start with a lucky blind shot :-) . [KV] Appadang Alpha Tester 31 posts 4,312 battles Report post #10 Posted September 2, 2015 Sometimes I shoot at the start because....well...."boooom" However - in a game called NavyField, players usually fired at the start of the battle to see " their max range" to make it easier to hit stuff later. Perhaps some people still play with a NavyField mentality....I dunno...
[PSYC0] Psychlist Players 3 posts 7,502 battles Report post #11 Posted September 2, 2015 Is some of it down to mishitting keys? Using a laptop I very soon switched my "Fire" button to the space bar from the mouse click as it would often misfire when using the touchpad to change view angles. Can't do that on WoWs (yet? Please sort it out WG!) so have to be VERY careful where my guns are pointing at all times!!!
Devantejah Alpha Tester 1,049 posts 2,356 battles Report post #12 Posted September 3, 2015 I admit I have done some accidental discharges due to a silly habit. It's never done intentionally though. Basically waggle the aim and click to get three points "clicked" between where the guns are aiming. Might be some mild OCD.
DeckMastersReturn Players 1 post 444 battles Report post #13 Posted September 3, 2015 i think it is a case of WoT players fever they just cant help themselves they want to hear that gun go BOOM..personally i loved the sound of the tier 3 German arty...what a noise..lol
riulassher Beta Tester 55 posts 401 battles Report post #14 Posted September 7, 2015 There is also a possibility that it is a battleship firing at the target outside your rendering range and you forgot to check the minimap. There is at least one low tier map where a IJN BB like Kongo can reach into enemy spawn right from the beginning.
simonmd Players 801 posts 1,673 battles Report post #15 Posted September 7, 2015 (edited) It's because they want to advertise the fact that they are NOOBS and that they have no clue what they are doing, it's kind of like a warning to stay away or risk getting hit by 'friendly fire' later on...... Well, that's how I interpret it anyway. Edited September 7, 2015 by simonmd
[CDS] San4311 Beta Tester 17 posts 2,480 battles Report post #16 Posted September 10, 2015 Probably inpatient captains that are very triggerhappy Or just like in WoT, they try to recreate a scene of a KV-2 / arty / T49 /anything with a derp gun/ that hits a target right from the start of the game across the map. But overall it is a silly thing to do because it costs you credits, and may get you spotted and hit by BBs.
