Bloodymaster Players 20 posts 945 battles Report post #1 Posted August 12, 2015 (edited) Good evening, I have seen that we have plenty of forum, for Eastern , Western Europe. Therefore I would like to see is it possible to make Serbian speaking forum ? Balkan languages are Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, Macedonian and even Slovenian. We all can understand each other and it would be nice if we have place to dicuss somewhere. If WG Staff need some help like moderator/admin for that part of forum , we can talk about it. I am sure I have enough time and expirience for those roles. Bloody Edited August 12, 2015 by Bloodymaster

Figment Beta Tester 3,801 posts 10,499 battles Report post #3 Posted August 13, 2015 Do you honestly think that's a good idea? :/ From some other games (particularly history centric games) I've noticed there's some lingering sentiments and a lot of moderation needed if the wrong history subject pops up. Subjects less likely to pop up if you're in a more international environment. Plus it separates communities more, creates far more topics on the same things (and doesn't create others) discussed elsewhere, etc. making it generally harder to find the information you're looking for. Plus, how many would actually post there? There's also no Italian, Dutch, nor any Scandinavian forum and each of those outnumbers the population of former Yugoslavia iirc. Around 10 million in the Balkan republics total vs about 61 million Italians, 24 million dutch speaking people, 9 million swedes, 6 million Danes, 5 million Norwegians. We're all using the English forum and think mostly everyone's happier for it due to it being easier to make new acquaintances, gain support for critique on WG policies, etc. Not saying you don't have a right to ask for or get it, just wondering if it's all that practical and needed. Isn't there a secondary trade language your countrymen might make use of and feel comfortable enough with, while getting in touch with other people from further away in Europe? English, German, Russian, Italian? When I was in Croatia last, German (read: Austrian) seemed to be the main secondary language anyway.

People from former Yugoslavia need place on the forum to discuss and talk about game., make a divisions , clans etc. in our native language. I don't think that we are asking too much. When you open forum you see something like this English Speaking Forum Deutschsprachige Community Polska Społeczność Česká a slovenská komunita Communauté francophone Comunidad de habla española Türkçe Topluluk why not add one more : Serbian Speaking Community Edited August 13, 2015 by Tyson981

[-5D-] Hannibalurg Beta Tester 950 posts Report post #11 Posted August 13, 2015 Giving own language forums does nothing but poison the community, everyone should speak english and all other languages should be banned. I am not native english speaker, but giving into segments nothing but make sure germans speak german, french speak french and klingons speak klingon. Horrible way to solve it.

I'm always ashamed when I see my fellow countrymen speak their native language in game, I think its very rude. We need more unity, not more seperation. Why gimp yourself by blocking out the rest of the world. To each their own I guess.

[1UP] Ectar_ Alpha Tester, Players 676 posts 922 battles Report post #15 Posted August 13, 2015 To nip this conversation in the bud before it gets heated with people saying something they regret... Any new language sections are added to the forums based on player numbers. Not on residents/population numbers of the country. We currently have English, French, German, Czech, Polish, Turkish and Spanish sections as those are the languages which are fully supported by our European office. That means we have community teams for those languages, content teams and customer support teams. Along with the supported language sections, we may also add what's called "unsupported" language sections to the forums. This is a forum section for people to speak in their native language. It doesn't mean however that we then will have community, content and customer support teams available for that language. This only happens when there is a clear need for it due to forum/portal visits from specific countries and also if that country/region has a high percentage of people who don't speak an additional language. As an example, it's highly unlikely we'll ever have a "Scandinavian" forum due to the variety of languages in that region and the fact many Scandinavians speak English as a second language (and speak it very well). We won't add a Serbian forum however it's likely we'll add a Balkan section like already exists with World of Tanks. One very very important thing to remember is that we have nothing against any country or language and any player trying to claim that as a reason for us not adding a language section needs to wise up. We add new language sections only when there is a clear need and only when it's supported by the player numbers in that region. It's impossible for us to have fully supported language sections for every EU country and I'd like to ask players to seriously think before they ask for a language section for their country and to think about how many other games out there that they play have multiple different language sections (and if they do, have more than roughly 5). Yes it's good to be able to speak your native language on a forum, however the more language sections we have, the more diluted and fragmented the forum becomes which isn't always a good idea. *Edit* I should also add that any new language sections won't be added until open beta is over.
[T_N_T] Admiral72 Beta Tester 12 posts 4,492 battles Report post #16 Posted August 13, 2015 Thnx Ectar. I think it's what OP meant. We're aware that an official section for the Balkan region would be a long shot, given the numbers.
[-5D-] Hannibalurg Beta Tester 950 posts Report post #17 Posted August 13, 2015 Ectar, my demand was very sarcastic, I have the opinon that it's 2015 and everyone should speak english rather then beeing segmented up and taking huge chunks of the community into own sections. Funfact: All Scandinavians understand eachother, Scandinavia consists of Norway, Sweeden and Denmark. (not Finland and Island as many belive)

I think this sentence nails it down. I don't mind communicating in English as I use it in my life on daily basis. But there are others that aren't that comfortable writing/reading in English so it's great that there are forums for other languages too. And like Ectar said it's good to have those forums but having too many is not what we need.

[1UP] Ectar_ Alpha Tester, Players 676 posts 922 battles Report post #25 Posted August 13, 2015 Can you explain me please, why we need to wait that long for forum? Short and simple answer is because we say so. Content on the forums isn't a player democracy and making demands for stuff is not a wise course of action. It's on the cards to be done but it's not something that needs to be done urgently.
