Trigger_Happy_Dad Beta Tester 6,753 posts 7,907 battles Report post #1 Posted August 12, 2015 (edited) Teamplay, supporting newbies, accurate firing while steering and getting a higher winrate? Impossible? No! ;) Take a look at this example: Replay update: higher quality vid! Spoiler In the beginning I encourage the team to attack west eastwards: "Attack westwards! " (should ofc have written eastwards...) "Good luck guys!" ...and ask the CVs to follow: "CVs follow please!" One of the CV players acknowledges and a Kongo-player writes: "I am trying hard but it's hard to get shots on target, and vulnerable to torps too" Instead of writing "Noob, L2P Kongo!" I write the following: "Will escort you!" "Got quick firing guns vs DDs n stuff!" ...and sail towards him... After the first attack by enemy torpedo-planes the Kongo player steers more and more towards the map edge...I write: "Please don't sail at map edge the whole time, need to turn towards enemy" The attack begins and nothing can stop us! ****************************************************************************************************** In the replay and the video you'll notice my "casual way of firing while steering". I aim in front of the target in "sniper-view", then click and HOLD the Right-Mouse-Button AND click and hold Left-Mouse-Button to fire. This way the camera zooms out and I can see my ship, it gives me a better overview and enables me to change course while firing, making me a difficult target. ****************************************************************************************************** And yes - a player who encourages the team to attack together, supports newbies and changes course all the time while firing will have a higher winrate than a player who doesn't do theses things. ****************************************************************************************************** [ DD = Destroyer, CA = Cruiser, BB = Battleship, CV = Carrier ] [ ] Edited November 14, 2015 by Trigger_Happy_Dad

Change the title to : "How not to suck in WOWS" +1 The title is fine. Your suggested title not so much. That's how most people communicate with others in this game. Telling them they suck and calling them noobs. I expected more from a supposed supertester!

Trigger_Happy_Dad Beta Tester 6,753 posts 7,907 battles Report post #7 Posted August 12, 2015 (edited) Thx for the nice comments guys! Here's another good example for teamplay, this time with the Aoba: Replay In the beginning I wished my team "good luck!" and asked if we should attack over the eastern flank - and so we did! I encouraged the guys to focus fire and pinged on targets to quickly take out one after the other, worked like a charm! ;) Although I noobed around firing HE only I scored 6 torpedo hits on two enemy battleships and sunk them both, gg. ;) Edited August 12, 2015 by Trigger_Happy_Dad

Damaged many enemy ships by firing over islands, 100k damage, sunk 3 enemy Omahas. Replay Edited August 13, 2015 by Trigger_Happy_Dad

Trigger_Happy_Dad Beta Tester 6,753 posts 7,907 battles Report post #11 Posted August 13, 2015 I only discovered that "firing from the hip trick" recently, and I thought I'd better share it to prevent new players from "playing in sniper view" for too long, because that's where a lot of mistakes come from, like colliding with ships or islands, or firing a full shell / torpedo salvo into a friendly ship next to you etc. ;) With some practice this "trick" is really nice, you avoid more incoming shots and make less mistakes while steering your ship. ;) And it's really nice to play as a team, everybody in the team benefits from supporting each other, and for me and hopefully many others the "game feeling" is much better than standard ego gaming. ;)

[TOXIC] Always_ChatBanned Players 49 posts Report post #16 Posted August 15, 2015 Please enlighten us, why would it not be true? I mean as in, you can do all of those things to hope and get a better winrate, but essentially it all comes down to what kind of teammates you get. No matter what you do, you'll still lose with donkey teammates on your team.
Trigger_Happy_Dad Beta Tester 6,753 posts 7,907 battles Report post #17 Posted August 15, 2015 I mean as in, you can do all of those things to hope and get a better winrate, but essentially it all comes down to what kind of teammates you get. No matter what you do, you'll still lose with donkey teammates on your team. Just an example, 2 equally skilled players, same ships, same mm, 1000 games. Which of the two players will have a better winrate? The guy who plays for the team and for the win or the guy who just plays for his own personal fun? Imho the guy who plays for the team will have a better winrate after 1000 games..... ;) Here's an nice example what you can do if the team does NOT listen to any battle plan: Na, das Problem hat man doch aber leider bei jedem Online-Spiel, Leute die einfach ausrasten und andere beschimpfen obwohl sie selber Mist gebaut haben.... :/ Replay I suggest that we attack over the east side, no one answers, only a few sail east, 3 of our BBs sail west without any cruiser support, enemy team has 2 CVs.... I drop the "attack over east" plan and escort the BBs, kill lots of enemy planes, get almost killed myself and support the team until the end, when I kill the last enemy ship by firing from the hip over an island... ;) I also could have chosen to just sail east, but that way we would have lost all those BBs in the west pretty quickly and would have had even less chances to win. Trigger_Happy_Dad Beta Tester 6,753 posts 7,907 battles Report post #20 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) Another nice example for teamplay: We agree on attacking together, over the western flank: some doubt this tactic, but we do it anyway ;) soon though we notice enemies coming from 9/10 line towards our base Me and another guy turn back to base to support the other 3 team members in the defense, 7 press on with the attack in the west. We crushed all enemy opposition except one DD and achieved victory by working together. ;) Replay Edited August 16, 2015 by Trigger_Happy_Dad
Trigger_Happy_Dad Beta Tester 6,753 posts 7,907 battles Report post #21 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) And another example of how a simple team tactic can lead to victory: update: higher quality vid! Attack together towards the east, crush the enemies there and then turn north / north-west to defeat the rest of them = victory! ;) I basically fire from the hip all the time, again hitting enemy ships behind islands and evade many incoming shots. Here's another good example what you can do when the team does NOT communicate: update: higher quality vid! Replay I just sail my Myoko to where I'm needed most to support my team. ;) And again I fire from the hip quite often to keep the opponents under fire while evading all the time to make it harder for them to hit me. ;) btw .... Myoko + "Sierra Mike" flag = 37 knots, feels like driving a fat DD! ;) Edited August 16, 2015 by Trigger_Happy_Dad
