they could have the current one as a new and final upgrade

I like the Kongo, giving it an extra upgrade would be nice (Myogi has 3 hulls!)

Just started to play my Kongo again after playing tier 8 matches a long time. Kongo at tier 5 is a beast. You can outrange anyone and the guns are good for Citadel hits. Also the armor/surviveability is great at tier 5 level. It's a joy to play after the quite stressfull tier 8 matches :)

As far as I can make out, the model in game for Kongo's upgrade hull is actually the IJN Hiei.  Which had a tower bridge intended as a prototype for the design later made for Yamato.

Kongo and the other members of the class, Haruna and Kirishima had a different style of pagoda built over and infront of a tripod mast.

I could have

ots a Kongo class ship, not directly the kongo, who knows maybe wg will do specefic hull upgrades or options ( skins) for each ship of that class

During CBT, it was officially admitted that the in-game model for the Kongo-class is that of the Hiei and that, at some point, it will be changed to the Kongo.

Well it just irritates me that only 1 out of the 4 Kongo class ships had that bridge, and they've chosen to use that one, rather than the one all the others had.  And the ship's not called Kongo class, it's called Kongo, specifically.

That's the case for every ship except premiums at the moment though, WG's just dropped "-class" from all the ship names, hence why the Tatsuta was renamed Tenryuu. More than one ship has modifications that the class name ship didn't have, but one of the sister ships did. (Premiums tend to be one particular ship).

I want the Kongo's full historical AA-complement!   :D

118 x 25mm...

Only if I can have KGV's full AA suite when Brits come! :P

On a serious note though, I see no reason why not, well, except for maybe the fact that it would put the dps from the 25 mm guns alone to 216 taking the Kongou's 25 mm dps (rather than the later BBs')... Besides, 118x 25 mm guns is Haruna, isn't it?

As far as I can make out, armaments of each ship at the time of their loss were as follows (NB; I could well be wrong, my sources are a little patchy, so I may have missed part of a refit on the ships, or maybe even an entire modification):

Kongou, 4x2 356 mm guns, 8x1 152 mm guns, 4x2 127 mm DP guns, 58x1 25 mm AA guns, 8x2 25 mm AA guns, 19x3 25 mm AA guns (AA dps would be either 264 or 417)

Hiei, 4x2 356 mm guns, 14x1 152 mm guns, 8x1 127 mm DP guns, 10x2 25 mm AA guns, 8x2 13.2 mm AA guns (AA dps would be either 89 or 112)

Kirishima, 4x2 356 mm guns, 14x1 152 mm guns, 8x1 127 mm DP guns, 10x2 25 mm AA guns, 4x2 13.2 mm AA guns (AA dps would be either 75 or 98)

Haruna, 4x2 356 mm guns, 8x1 152 mm guns, 6x2 127 mm DP guns, 24x1 25 mm AA guns, 2x2 25 mm 30x3 25 mm AA guns (AA dps of either 252 or 390)

If anyone was interested, King George V ended the war with 64 40 mm Pom-Poms, 10 40 mm Bofors, 36 20 mm Oerlikons, and 16 133 mm DP guns, which by my reckoning is a minimum of 498 dps (the pom-poms were radar guided, so we may be looking at up to 530).

War Thunder is getting the IJN Kongo 1944 refit and it looks absolutely stunning. It is like the exact copy of the real warship especially if you using the Ansel free camera, it is like you are aboard the historical ship !

Spoiler

Kongo model needs to be updated in WoWS, it looks like dog poop. And WG will need to step up their game with the ship modeling. WT models are on a completely different level.

WT is also considerably smaller in scope and thus more focused on detail. A Kongo is basically the largest ship you can get in WT, for WoWs it is somewhere in the middle. Though I want US/IJN remodels as soon as possible. The models WG makes are high quality, but the older ones are very dated. And they refuse to model sister ships as unique like for the Littorios.

Agreed, although they occasionally did in the past, e.g. Tirpitz - Bismarck. Same case as Roma - Veneto, but no reworked model. Really sad, especially because we know that the people creating the models almost always do a great job. Too busy with tier 11 and submarines, unfortunately.
