Happy owner of the Mogami, I suppose that the Atago has the same game-play which in my case is mainly based on guns, and occasionally on torpedoes. However, many Atago players have the tendency to launch their torps ASAP and in the blind, even from second or third line, resulting in catastrophes and what can be seen in the screenshot. All -1 were done by "accidental" torpedoes. Note as well the interesting MM layout that also helped a lot the final result. I've witnessed such TK and "accident" quite often, not saying each game! Why would that be in your opinion? I think an educational video on how to play Japanese cruiser might be useful. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Most of those Atago pleyers, if not all of them probably haven't fought 20, no 10 battles ... If this very morning is old, then the screenshot is old indeed ;) The MM unfortunately is very current, one of the most odd I have witnessed however. Yep I have an atago and sometimes fire blind but thats only when I know its safe to do so and I do get some hits. p.s Atagos torps are secondary to your HE which is what you should be firing most of the time (well I do). (i.e you hit a bb cause a fire aim at another...fire...then u see a cruiser...get him on fire..then switch back to the original bb who has used repair...rinse n repeat).((bit of an annoying tactic I know)). And the Atago is quite weak for it's tier. It would be a OK tier 7 ship, but it is a tier 8. It is almost the same ship as the tier 7 Myoko only with a lot slower rate of fire and a little bit more HP. Just because you had a game like that doesnt mean every Atago' is a burden, and personally ive never seen an issue with any that ive seen. There is one good thing about the Atago and that is the high amount of credits it will make you. The Atago is, except possibly in armour profile, which I have no way of checking, strictly better than the Myouko. She has a better RoF (3.8 vs 5.0), better turret traverse (29.0 vs 45.0) and better torps (quad spreads vs triples). It also has a slightly better firing arc on the reverse facing turrets (probably 35°-40° vs about 45°) and a much better torpedo arc. Indeed most of its stats are slightly better the Mogami with the 203mm guns, although its probably worse than her with the 155mm's. Point is - its not the ship that sucks, it is the inexperienced players using it in t8 matches Probably it will be the same when we get the Tirpitz in Premium shop. With a Myoko you can be pretty sure the player knows what he is doing and that's more than you can say about the average Atago player. XP-wise the Myokos usually do a lot better. Figment Beta Tester 3,801 posts 10,499 battles Report post #24 Posted August 10, 2015 @OP: The problem you're refering to is the same as the traditional not contributing tier 8 premium heavy tank liability in WoT: People with no experience buy random high tier units (where premium units are usualy equal to stock units of the same tier), thinking they are smart and skilled enough to instantly win lots of exp and silver without having to grind there. They simply make the mistakes other players might (might) make in tier II-IV. They don't know about torpedo range, how to avoid friendly fire, or even what it is, don't know what ammo to use on what at what distance, etc. Nothing new, simply Wargaming not tieing the possibility for an account to purchase premium warships to already having a minimal amount of experience before allowing the purchase of a high tier vessels. It is the same marketing team that realises a lot of (inexperienced / not too bright) new players prefer to spend money to skip a grind and jump into high tier battles, that currently allows players at Gamescom to jump into tier X and go afk.
