PhroX Beta Tester 210 posts 1,190 battles Report post #51 Posted August 7, 2015 Not exactly the same sort of WTF, but I still think it counts as such a moment. Take note of the ammo selection, the range and the ships in question. Heh, I had a game where my Clemson manage to get three HE citadels on a Myogi. Two of which were in the same salvo of...two shots.

Gremlin got powerfull 130 mm guns, which when firing HE can pen 21,6 mm of armor. Now HE can't bounce and armor doesnt get enhanced thicknes because of angling. Finally Myogi got 19-25 mm deck armor and 19-203 mm for the citadel (and I bet the 19 mm here is the armored deck above the citadell) So .... not surprised at all. [SPUDS] Unintentional_submarine [SPUDS] Beta Tester 4,052 posts 8,765 battles Report post #53 Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) Haha, that's pretty epic. The Myogi and the Wyoming appears to have a really wonky citadel hitbox. I mean in my case, my HE shell hit somewhere with around 21mm armour or less, covering the citadel. That can't be right. Besides HE shells don't really travel through the ship. So the citadel was right up against said armour. havaduck, on 07 August 2015 - 12:50 PM, said: Nope, just WG @ work. If you go to the gamemodels3d site, you will see that the Myogi has 19mm underwater protection, and the forward and rear decks that doesn't cover the citadel. Obviously it was a hit to that underwater belt, which by itself it pretty odd. The armoured deck covering the citadel from above is 25mm and is rather deep in the ship, no chance my HE could reach it. [RACHE] St4n Players 137 posts 955 battles Report post #54 Posted August 7, 2015 Start of the game, north spawn facing south. Question which side came up and than some: left, no right, sorry left... So I asked from what perspective, minimap or our facing. And why they don't use east/west... And than someone started to slander me for not knowing what left and right is. A harsh explanation that there is no common perspective and according to our facing "left" is completly opposite to "left" according to minimap was my reaction. He tried to tell me that everyone knows what "left" is. After 2 or 3 comments from me he finally got what I was talking about and suddenly got very defensive. (Yeah, hard to admit that you are wrong after spouting [edited] all over the chat.) And than his comment... : "It's a game." As if that would change how left/right work... I told him that and he started to insult me for beeing a DD and some other nonsens. I just took remarks onto his intelligence and laughed about him. In the end he just threw standard insults arround. As I was dead I checked his stats and asked in chat how someone can have 43% winrate. The answer from someone feeling smart was: "you need to know math, it means 57% lossrate" And I had the second: Offcourse, our mentally challanged friend laughed not even comprehending that it wasn't what I asked and even than beeing proud of 57% lossrate... yeah. The game ended and I lost some IQ-points just talking to people like that.
havaduck ∞ Players 2,989 posts 11,824 battles Report post #55 Posted August 7, 2015 HE shells can't travel under water, they detonate as soon as the hit something, as stated by wg - only AP can. Even if they could, lets give them the 1/6 gun diameter because they also said thats what HE alway pens (albeit on armor) ..... thats 21,6 mm water, and then there is still 19 mm of hull armor ....... at least thats what the site says. btw: great site. Ive been searching for something like this..... until now I could make only do with fragmented historical and x-y mm armor ratings. hava a +1 from me. But .... now that ive seen this armor scheme I cant figure it out. The internal armored deck should get and withstand any blast even if a he penned the 19 mm infront and aft of the casemate guns. The site is great, but they have made T7-10 a pay-thing. Not entirely sure they can do that with WG property, but I guess we will find out. What I'm thinking happened is that the waves created a small depression so the water didn't cover a very small bit of underwater belt. The armoured deck however, doesn't cover the underwater belt. On the armour model you can click the various thicknesses on the panel and see where they apply. The 25mm deck doesn't protect the sides enough. Very interesting info you can find there. Talladega_Night Beta Tester, Players 497 posts 5,412 battles Report post #59 Posted August 8, 2015 I had a WTF game in my Hosho last night. Everything started normally until the enemy started showing up. I watched as a Enmy St Louis rammed a Myogi on his team causing both of them to ground themselves into an island, I promptly send both by torp squads to them and promptly kill the St Louis and heavily damage the Myogi. So that's fine. Around 8 min later s sneaky sneak Furotaka flanks my Hosho but rather then waiting to launch his torps for my broad side he launches them while I am pointed his direction cleanly avoiding everything he fired, This is where a big WTF moment happens, Just as he fired his torps, the enemy langly attacks me from the same vector with his torp squadrons right in the path of the Furotaka. They all hit him sinking him instantly. and I am able to carry on doing more attacks and sinking more things. Was awesome to watch everything unolfd.

TheCinC Quality Poster 1,695 posts 9,500 battles Report post #62 Posted August 8, 2015 (edited) Okay, I just had yet another memorable game.. St Louis, Big Race, Tier III game. Ended up one the edge of the map with a few ships in front of me. Started pouring fire onto every enemy ship I could see, and there were plenty. Somehow, they completely and utterly ignored me and instead focused on the ships in front of me, as my St Louis once again gave a nice demonstration of the awesome firepower it can wield. It has so many guns and reloads so quickly, you can basically keep up a continuous barrage, so you're constantly busy aiming and firing, don't have much time for anything else. As a result, I wasn't paying attention much to anything except shooting up enemy ships, so ended up drifting along the edge of the map without noticing, almost ran into an island, then accidentally hit a friendly as he wasn't minding where he was going either and had come right alongside of me and even rammed me. I was doing a lot of damage, but even a Kawachi that was right in front of me didn't pay me any attention until I had pumped almost 50 shells into him. By the time he tried to target me, it was too late. I got confederate, for the first time in Open Beta, but the game wasn't over yet. I would need to watch the replay to confirm, but I think they briefly held an advantage in ships. Briefly. I tried to turn towards the base, which was being capped, but enemy ships kept approaching me one by one,That suited me fine, as I sank them one by one. With help from my allies, I ended up sinking 6 ships, damaging three others, for a total of over 60 K in damage. I scored 134 hits, 8 incapacitations, sank 6 ships, set three fires and scored 2 citadel hits, both on the same ship and successfully defended the base. We won by sinking them all. I took about 1.6 k damage from a total of 3 hits. Three. Hits. I guess they really misunderestimated me this game. Edited August 8, 2015 by TheCinC

Testokan Beta Tester 47 posts 332 battles Report post #64 Posted August 8, 2015 1st game in the Murmansk: 2-3 Minutes in the game, I see some Torp bombers. So I go; "Yeah, Murmansk, stronk AA!". I try to attack the bombers before they reach the BB's. The bombers decide to torp me instead. As I had an island next to me, I had to turn away from them. Now I was driving away with 5-6 torps chasing me. I decided to let one hit and let the others pass. All worked fine, except the torp hit my rudder and my ship turned into the remaining torps. Boom. Sunk. Didn't fire one single shot, but took 2 planes with me.
