Making BB grouphealer?

Just had an idea concerning teamplay, and what might help players stick together somewhat more then how it is now!

How about making the BB's "healing" ability an area skill, reaching out maybe 4-5 kilometers? That would make escorting abit more interesting for cruisers, and done right quite beneficial for the team.

Please don't go flaming me now:)

Would be a cool feature to repair some percentage of ships around the BB.

Doubt it would be implemented.

Well, battleship and vessels interested in "healing" would have to stop, then BB could activate consumable to heal ships in 2km vicinity. That way you couldn't heal on the move, but it would be useful for regrouping.

That could be for an new type of ships like escorter with supplies and spares.

I'd like to replentish my bombers mid game :)

As a DD Captain I whole heartedly endorse this proposal.

Battleship players would not like it.

It would make their class even more first Target for everyone who is able to kill them fast.

They would be flamed at in ingme chat because everybody would think he is in control over when the BB has to use this ability

 

All others won't like it:

Because the BB Noob in my last battle did not use his healing ability when I needet it.

Oh and because of:

Why does the Battleship get such a cool ability and classxy (fafourite class of the perswon complaining) doesn't?

 

Good Idea (Realistic thoughts aside) but it would require more teamplay than can be expectet in Random.

Leading to even more Chat "Problems".

 

No Group abilitys in a game where 95% of the players are, in their own eyes, the one that matters most.

Won't work.

For gameplay it does sound cool. But is does stray away from the authenticity that this game is going for.

Why dont we give cruisers a laser shield of 4 km so no shells could penetrate it for like 30 secs?

 

Lots of them already have it, permabuff called agility. Then you activate the "skill" mode and voila.

Then BB player activates his "skill" and voila, citadel penetrations and in worst case "Detonation" achievement.... Zig zaging is not a problem for a skilled BB captain and some RNGesus on his side.

Sounds like a cool idea, especially with the need to stop for repairs limitation. But I'm a bit worried what would happen to the balance if one team has several BBs more than the other, like 3 vs 5. That's the biggest difference I've seen so far. I don't know how big difference in the number of BBs can be, but I've seen 1 DD vs 5 DD matches.

While I do like the idea of repairing other ship and giving power to your allies and overall dedicated support units, I do think that this skill in case of BBs would be a bit too much.

 

It doesn't even fit into the feeling of the ship. BBs are supposed to be big, scary and powerful. They are tanks, they are pushing the frontline, their guns command respect. How does AOE healing fit into it? It doesn't.

 

Aoe heal would fit much better for the specialised crusier, which theme is "jack of all trades". They are by nature versitile so support skills fit them. Would love to see full support crusier class ship.

It sounds like a great idea at first but there are quite a few problems, first of all, If you were in a Battleship with this ability then people would start to blame all the defeats on you even though it may not have been. No only will it make people stick as close as possible to each other causing collisions and even Boarder camping. it would be a good idea if it was nerffed, I.e Each battleship gets this ability for a 1000 HP repair and they can only use it once, but this will only cause Battleship spam and people would constantly heal the battleships, for example imagine a full team of battleships with this ability, pretty much everyone would just sit at the back of the map camping the health regeneration button. Once you've fixed all these problems you still have to find a way to play the objectives as this will totally force both teams to stick together like glue and forget about the objectives and maybe even the time.

Dislike this idea 100%. The game is arcadey enough without more arcadey features.

 

+ realism - arcade.

 

The game is meant to be "Arcade-y" thats how Wargaming.net intends it to be. But I can see your point of view. They tried it with World of Tanks and it didn't really work, but that doesn't mean to say it cannot be fixed/improved so I agree and disagree with you.

Dont get me wrong I dont hate arcadey but there's a fine line between it being cheesy nonsense v arcade/realism+fun.

 

I am all for the right mix between the two. Having group heals is crossing the line in my opinion.
