Banestalk Players 21 posts 2,213 battles Report post #128 Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) The other day, I was fighting a Myogi at point blank range (torpedos on cooldown) and discovered that those super duper 200mm guns that are supposed to make the 45s traverse worth it can't even penetrate a one tier lower BB at 2km. They will cheerfully overpen an Omaha if you miss the citadel, though... So now I'm thinking that the Furutakes actual problem is that AP ammo is still pretty wonky. Since the penetration values aren't even shown, I suspect there's still some fudging going on under the hood. edit: My Cleveland otoh will penetrate (and make mincemeat out of) a Wyoming with her puny 152mm guns - at twice the ROF. wtf is going on here? From what I've seen; overpen does exactly 10% of the shell's max damage, non-penetrating hits that cause spalling can do just about anything up to ~15% (never seen much above 500 in the Furutaka though), penetrating hits do ~30-60%, citadels do 100%, ricochets do squat. I'll admit, I've not tried to use AP at close range against battleships, but at long range (so 11 km+ for the Furutaka) the AP shells penetrate the Wyoming's deck armour, though I'm yet to citadel one.
