I don't know if it's just me, or if i'm just having a run of bad luck; or if it's just contained to World of Warships.

 

The amount of hostility and people talking s*** to each other is so bad, it becomes funny. Compared to Warthunder (the closet comparison I can think of) I very occasionally saw a troll or idiot trying to talk s*** to other people.

 

Nearly every game I go in it's almost the same thing. People have to talk s*** to each other, others calling other people noobs, lemmings and others calling out others for "hacks".

 

Anyone else find this?

Generally curious s'all, as it seems like quite a hostile community from what i've seen so far.

Yes. In the last dozen games or so I've been called "jew" by some guy who I sunk with torpedoes, and "botting aimcheater" (or something like that) by another one who got sunk in his straight-in-a-line destroyer by my Phoenix. Another one refused to play (for reasons I couldn't quite decipher), parked his carrier at the edge of the map and spent the rest of the game insulting everybody (both teams).

 

I hope WG does something about it, unlike WoT. If not, at least give make it possible to turn off the chat.

The level of conversation appears to have sunk lower with OBT release.

 

My favourite so far has been "F**k arty noob tomato clicker" - Tells you everything about where the majority of the bile is coming from.

In about 160 games since open beta, i think i had 4-5 in which there were some really hostile/obnoxious/insulting people. Maybe 10, certainly no more than that (things were much better in CBT and Alpha)

In general, I would say my experience here is on par with WOT,LOL, Warthunder and other F2P games

It's not just the large majority, it's like 95% of all matches I play will have idiots on either team trying berate everyone else for reasons X, Y and Z.

I just wish people wouldn't be so hostile, and ya know, play the game

Sound like you've had better luck than me, lol.

95% of all my matches always contain people going at each others throats for whatever reason

Indeed it is.

 

I was just quite surprised is all. Coming over from Warthunder, I barely saw anyone berate each other during the match. It still happened, but no where near as much as what I experience during matches here :p

Things were much, much, more polite during CBT. We also had the advantage of knowing that we were testing and that stats/ships were going to be erased during reset so no one cared about win/losses. Of course the player base was only 10% the size it is now and full of dedicated e-sailors.

WoWS is pretty neat. The hostility, in my opinion, lets the game down. Considering it's a team based game, there's so many matches we could have one if my team had actually worked together and communicated, rather than just having to berate each other for every little thing anyone did.

Oh the CBT era was a Golden time,you always found a friend in the teams,especially late at night,which was probably the best time to play.

 

 

All the filth i hate from WOT came to spread their cancer in WOWS....

 

And im sorry if i enrage anyone but i see that most of them are Polish and Hungarians....

 

No offence to any polish or Hungarian,but 80% of your playerbase sucks big time

When someone insults you, just ignore them or say something like "i'l take that as a compliment", they will definetly be quiet after that.

 

Except for the bad guys, there are also a lot of nice new players.

For example: yesterday there was a player in general chat who accidentally said that he was going for the CV of the enemy team, what followed was a lot of chit-chat between both teams. It was absolutely hilarious and people started complimenting each other after kills, great sportsmanship.

This is what I want to see, and would make the game so much more enjoyable for me. I think i've seen this happen, two times? Sounds like you've had better luck than me so far.

I haven't played much since OBT but I find it less then expected. Most games are free of toxic players, and when you do meet them it's clear their vocabulary is really limited to kinda easy to ignore. If it's to bad I would report them.

 

As RUMIRUMI says I seen plenty of examples of both fun chat, and effective coordination through chat. 

 

It's not that bad, well it hasn't for me. I always try and start a game with wishing every good luck and to have fun hoping people will have a more positive mindset, maybe it's helping?

Yeah, even though it does exist (Welcome to dem internetz!) I see more positivity than negativity.

 

Have actually used the compliment feature more than the report - although I'm not sure what that does exactly.

Try to take the initiative, there is always one guy on your team who is willing to work together, heck, i have even seen a cleveland who stayed with our CV the whole game far away from the action just to support him against the enemy cariers.

Lasty i give every friendly player a "notification" to look at their GODAMN MAPS INSTEAD OF CRUISING AROUND,LIKE WORTHLESS PILE OF CRAP THEY ARE,OH IM SAILING A BOAT,OH LOOK AT THE BEATIFULL SEA,LOOK AT THE HAPPY SUN AND LEAVE THE IDIOT IN THE KONGO WITHOUT ASSISTANCE AGAINST 7 ENEMY SHIPS!

A few days ago I was playing my Omaha when I rounded an island and came right under the sights of a New York at 8km. He wrecked me in his first salvo and sunk me with his second despite my desperate evasive maneuvers. Rather than raging in chat, I complimented him on his excellent shooting because it was a thing of beauty and skill.

What people got to realise is that for good sportsmanship and chitchat to happen more often, they themselves need to start doing it.

 

Even if it is just GLHF at the start of the battle in all chat, every little helps.

I find rational arguements the funniest. I ask questions of the rager and get amused by their lack of logic.

 

Today's went:

Him: "Omfg report (2 enemy players) plz

Me: "why?"

Him: "camper noob bots"

Me: "how can they be camping when they've just pushed a flank on their own and are threatening our base?"

Him: "can't shoot straight noobs"

Me: "why then do they each have 2 kills and you have none?"

 

At this point the game ended (victory for us), and unsuprisingly the 2 that the rager wanted reporting were first and second, with 4 kills between them. The rager was of course second from bottom.

 

So I used the compliment button for both of them - that is what the rager wanted right? Me to report them for good play :p
